Thanks for this terrific review, Carol! So glad you had a great time! And do come back! Just a note for possible future renters: our Seattle Urban Retreat isn't a condo but a house on its own lot. Laura

About the neighborhood
Seattle Urban Retreat is centrally located at the cusp of Washington Park/Madison Valley, across E. Madison Street from the Arboretum with its Japanese Garden. There is a shopping area less than a half block away with day spa, chocolate, teriyaki, French desserts and take-home meals, wine and espresso. A new pizza place is just across Lake Washington Boulevard. Madison Park's shops and restaurants, children's park with play structures including a zip line, and Madison Park beach are a .7 mile walk down hill to the east, and Madison Valley's shops and restaurants are .5 miles walking west.. You can whisk down town easily from the bus stop across E. Madison, and our proximity to the Highway 520 East entrance makes trips to the eastside (Redmond, Bellevue, Kirkland) and the Cascades, a snap.
Getting around
Metro Transit Bus #11 takes you downtown (line ends at 2nd and Pine) kingcounty.gov/depts/transportation/metro.aspx for current bus information. Catch #11 to downtown across Madison (north side) Metro Transit Bus #8 takes you to Seattle Center. Stop is across Madison opposite Essential Baking Company (good coffee and pastries) about 1/2 mile from our house towards downtown in Madison Valley.
