It is architecturally unique and interesting with its arched doorways and doors. The original structure is intact with very few changes to the original design. There are original wood floors and ceramic tiles which have been beautifully restored. The long center hallway serves as the perfect photo gallery for Eliot's photos. The raised front porch and the front courtyard-style patio is wonderful and a great place to just sit and do nothing. The corner lot offers a beautiful view of the peaceful surroundings of the neighborhood. Guests can enjoy City Park's Museum of Art, botanical gardens and new walking park. Laura and Eliot Kamenitz have owned and resided in their home since May 1995. They are the fifth and current owners of this 1924 raised cottage-style house. They both have professional careers; Laura is an Engineer and Eliot is a staff photographer for the New Orleans Advocate local newspaper. Ranger is the resident cat whose main job is to do nothing when he's not sleeping. There is plenty of on-street parking and there is off-street parking available if needed. We provide a continental breakfast consisting of croissants, muffins, orange juice, coffee/tea. Three cats reside at the Laurel. Ranger, Billy and Koshka (Siberian kitty rescued from Russia!). The Laurel is licensed with the City of New Orleans and has been in operation since 1996. Member PIANO, Professional Innkeepers of New Orleans. Come join us and enjoy the experience of being "At Home in New Orleans" with Laura and Eliot. Tourist License / Licencia de turismo N °: 250616

Nice area, beautiful home.
Love this place! The house is in a quiet area, and they are great hosts! There's a private entrance and close to bus stops and streetcars, a long with some decent food and city park! The decor is beautiful and I absolutely loved the little sun/sitting room. It was a nice retreat after some very busy days exploring NOLA!

Perfect location to enjoy New Orleans
We stayed four nights and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. It’s located within minutes to the trolley. The room was made up nicely with an awesome sun room attached. It was nice to have a private entrance. The porch and patio was an added benefit to enjoy time outside and out of the sun. Will definitely be back!

Perfect stay
Laura and Eliot made us feel welcome and directed us to some great places. The room was large and comfortable. Laura was up with us every morning searching for directions to what we could fill our day with. Their home is beautiful and full of amazing photos both local and around the world. Everything from the City Park to the trolley stop is close and convenient. My friend and I are already planning our next trip back!

Quiet retreat with beautiful garden
This B&B is located in a quiet, beautiful neighborhood, nestled a couple blocks from City Park and the bayou ... you have easy access to both. This B&B is for one set of visitors only: 1-4 people. The guest area is to the back of the house, and you have both a large bedroom and a separate sunroom. The hosts, Laura and Eliot, and very friendly and are helpful with any special requests. Most of the house is shared space, and it is relaxing to sit inside, on the porch, or out in the garden/patio area. There is even a melodic water fountain in the garden which amplifies the zen. This B&B is perfectly situated for both the Jazz Festival and the Voodoo festival

Wonderful Stay!
Spent three nights here in very charming and spacious room on a comfy bed. There is a brightly lit sunroom attached to the bedroom with a small fridge. A great house situated close to city park, and an oasis from the bourbon street madness. Loved the gardens, decor, breakfast, and friendly help from Eliot. He recommended an excellent place for Jazz brunch and was personable and interesting. We will definitely return to The Laurel on our next trip to NOLA.

Nice quiet location
If you want a nice, quiet place to catch your breath and relax after a busy New Orleans adventure, then this is the place for you. Laura and Eliot are lovely hosts and provided useful information on restaurants and sites not to be missed. Streetcar conveniently located approximately 3 blocks away and takes you most places you want to go. Get the day pass on the streetcar and take all of the lines It was such a pleasure coming home to the sound of the fountain. You really get a sense of tradition in this home that has the most unusual antiques, pictures and photographs that you think you are in a museum. Don't expect a hot breakfast, but what you do have is wonderful coffee, fruit and pastries to greet you every morning. Don't miss Santa Fe Cafe for dinner, just across the bayou.

Sehr angenehmer Aufenthalt

Friendly home in a nice neighborhood in New Orleans near City Pa
We stayed at the Laurel Bed and Breakfast for the Rock 'n Roll Half Marathon in early February. Eliot was a fantastic host - having breakfast ready when we woke up every morning. His hospitality was a+ and he helped us out when we had a taxi not show up before the race - definitely did far more than was required running a B&B.; The location is a couple of blocks from City Park - a huge and well kept park on the north side of the city with 24 hr beignets. The bus and trolley line was also two blocks away. Definitely recommend for travelers wanting a quiet place with easy access to city happenings.
