Perfect apartment in ideal location
I booked an extremely last minute trip to New Orleans for Mardi Gras 2019 and found this accommodation literally 2 days before we flew over from London. I thought for the incredibly reasonable price we paid, especially at such a busy time of year, that the photos would be too good to be true, however I was completely blown away upon arrival at how beautiful the apartment was. All furnishings, appliances and decor were to such a high quality and as it was an apartment rather than hotel room it really did feel like a home from home. The accommodation was so large and spacious with very high doors and ceilings and loads of large cupboards for storage which made it feel so roomy. We had a comfortable sofa which pulled in to a bed, a large modern kitchen area fully equipped with everything from pots and pans to chopping boards to coffee machine, large dining table, large flat screen smart tv in both bedroom and living area, washer/dryer, modern bathroom with hairdryer/towels/amenities included and a comfortable bed with tonnes of cupboard storage space for our luggage. We were sent a text message a day prior to our arrival with instructions on how to enter the main door and our apartment door with keypad pin numbers. I also downloaded the app so I could chat to the 'front desk' if I had any questions, all staff who I encountered virtually via the app were beyond helpful. I managed to secure a late check out for no extra charge and I was given a number of options of places where we could store our luggage before our late flight home. 10/10! The location of this apartment is absolutely superb. We got a taxi from the airport which was a flat rate of $36USD and the drive was around 25 minutes. It's a 5 minute walk to Canal St, 10 minutes to Bourbon St, probably around 15 minutes to Jackson Square and a 5 min Uber to Frenchmen St costing around 5 dollars. There is a bus stop directly behind the hotel which an airport bus is meant to come to however we waited a long time for it to arrive so ended up just getting an Uber back to the airport. Uber had hiked their prices up because of Mardi Gras so it was over double what we paid a few days prior, the bus would have only been $2 so it was a shame it didn't show but according to the local people we spoke to this isn't uncommon in NOLA! The only slightly negative thing I would say about the room was that the windows are only single glazed and its right on a main road with traffic flowing by constantly and police sirens at all hours of the day and night which could be heard very easily. Luckily I had read similar reviews and packed ear plugs so it wasn't too much of a problem! Also our bedroom was at the opposite side of the apartment which was helpful. Another thing I would say is that, it's really helpful that the building provides luggage lockers to store your luggage upon check out ($6 per piece for unto 15 hours), however there are only 6 lockers and on the day we needed them only 1 was available. I found a 'bag bnb' round the corner which was the same price so wasn't an issue however maybe they could do with a few more lockers to avoid trying to find somewhere else! All in all, a perfect location for such beautiful, well thought out accommodation with all the mod cons. A home away from home with very helpful staff. Will 100% use again in the future!
