Amazing home and wonderful host! Worth every penny
Paul is an amazing host and was very accommodating to our needs. The house was beautiful and spacious, with a great location. We were a large wedding party staying for 3 nights, and Paul was very responsive leading up to and throughout the weekend. We had a brunch party on a Sunday morning in the garden of the house, for which Paul prepared an elaborate spread for a very reasonable fee. The manor is also lavishly decorated with beautiful artwork, which we took multiple tours of throughout our stay. We had a great time and the space was perfect for our wedding party.

Mind blowing property with world-class host
This month, relatives and I stayed at this glorious mansion while in town to spread my father’s ashes. The weekend was intended to celebrate his life in a way that would have brought him great joy. Said another way, we wanted everything to be perfect, and we were not disappointed. Beginning with my initial communication with Dr. Paul, our host. Over the two months after making our reservation many things changed. The number of guests, arrival and departure times, some special needs, etc. His communication was quick and always helpful. I’ve airbnb’d many times, and all I can say is that Dr. Paul is the most generous, flexible, kind and compassionate host I’ve ever encountered. Although others in my party did not experience this communication, everyone commented on how wonderful Dr. Paul was. The location itself was too amazing. Even after three days, we could not appreciate everything the place had to offer. Each room had its own personality and the furniture and artwork were magnificent. I arrived earlier than most guests and watched as new guests arrived. Their reactions were priceless. We were in awe the entire weekend, with new discoveries happening almost constantly. The special touches were too voluminous to mention, but I’ll share a few highlights: Dr. Paul helped us find the perfect places to eat, even contacting a friend to ensure the restaurant would accommodate our large party. Clearly, people around town know and like him, so explaining that we were staying at his place was helpful in getting help for last minute reservations. We arranged for Dr. Paul to prepare breakfast for us (an extra charge) on our first morning there and he made a beautiful spread for us. While he was preparing our food, he entertained us with stories. He even sang two beautiful, tear jerker of a songs about honoring and saying goodbye to each of our parents. Dr. Paul has a gentleman, Marcus, who helps care for the property and lives in an attached apartment. Marcus was always helpful when we needed assistance with anything and always with a smile. We also enjoyed the premium linens, seating areas in most of the bedrooms, and private bathrooms. The commercial fridge was huge and accommodated our mass amounts of food and beverages. My family and are so very grateful for the amazing experience at the Mansion. It could even become an annual thing. Two considerations for large parties. First, the beds are all authentic antiques and every one of them is beautiful. Most of the full beds have both head and foot boards and are quite high off the ground (though a step stool is provided for easy entrance and exit). This could make it a bit challenging for people who are really tall or young children. Second, although you have the entire house to yourself, be aware that both Dr. Paul and Marcus may occasionally enter through the house doors to access their private residences. We didn’t mind this, but having owned multiple vacation rentals of our own, I’ve learned that this could feel intrusive for some guests who prefer total privacy.

Exquisite Ecclectic Mansion
I am blessed to be part of an organization who meets here regularly. The environment is beautiful, neat and clean. Groups are able to use this facility for vacations, retreats, and family gatherings. The host is cordial, personable and welcoming. The mansion is filled with African and Jewish art. Outside amenities create a pleasurable outdoor experience, so relaxing on the property is available. It is located in downtown Baltimore, making culture and nightlife easy to access. Staying at 4 E. Madison is a wonderful experience, in and of itself. I recommend it highly.

It's like a night a the museum--in the arts and cultural district.!
Madison House is special and unique and is like staying in a museum. It is a classic, town home restored to its original elegance in the best and perhaps most walkable downtown neighborhood of Baltimore. Filled with antiques, oil paintings, wooden furniture, sculptures and other rare and unusual objects of art, it is a reflection of the tastes and sensibilities of the owner--and all accessible to you as a welcomed guest. We stayed there on two cold winter nights and were comfortable and cozy.
