About the neighborhood
Sandyhills is a small settlement on the Colvend coast and boasts the best beach in the area. Stretching out to the west lies stunning coastlilne of cliffs and inlets visible from the coastal path leading round to Rockcliffe. To the east a mixture of cliffs and at Mersehead RSPB reserve there are flat wetlands with managed lagoons for the wildfowl and a long stretch of sand dunes. Inland lies forested hills - a mixture of broad leaf and conifer. Colvend golf course is on the edge of the bay and Dalbeattie 7-Stanes mountain biking trails stretch through the woods almost as far as Sandyhills.
