Stunning
Absolutely beautiful! This cottage is nestled among the trees at the waters edge - so private and quiet - only thing you can hear is the water lapping the shore. The sunsets here are amazing - best ever!

A Mesmerizing And Magical Getaway
When you come from a congested county of nearly a million people in Florida, you want to get away. You have to get away. Sea Dream Cottage, nestled on the waterfront hillside on amazing Orcas Island, is the perfect escape. From the moment you wake up until the time you shut your eyes at night, all you see is water and endless beauty. Whether you're on the deck sitting in a chair reading a book or enjoying your favorite warm or cold beverage, or inside the cottage, the view is unsurpassed. Watch the sun sink below the horizon in the evening or watch the clouds light up in the morning with the sunrise. There are amazing hues of orange, pink, purple, you name it. You have a front-row seat to an array of birds, including a hummingbird who visits multiple times a day. You won't hear cars, people, the sounds of any city. All you will hear is quiet. Peace and quiet -- except for the lap of the waves and the playful chatter of sea birds. If you get chilly in the Pacific Northwest air, a fireplace indoors is the perfect recipe, with an ample supply of wood provided. You can cook all the meals you want at home to enjoy the view while you are there, or you can drive 20 minutes or so to the nearest town of Eastsound to grab a bite and shop at the mixture of stores there. More delights are located elsewhere on the island -- but you can stay here and never leave and be quite content. We like to vacation in beautiful places with very few people, because we have enough people in our daily lives. Sea Dream Cottage was the perfect escape, and we hated to leave. Quite simply, it was paradise, and we can't wait to return some day.

Perfection!
This is a very special spot on a very special Island! The location is stunning! Right on the water and nestled into the trees. It’s so peaceful. The cabin is beautiful. All the comforts of home, but not home. We enjoyed the wood burning fireplace in the evenings and often first thing in the morning. We found the tranquility of this spot and the unbelievable vistas good for our whole soul!

Magical and Private cottage right on the water
We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 nights at Sea Dream Cottage. With all of the big windows looking out over the water, the view was magnificent. Bring your binoculars to better see all the bird activity, the occasional seal, boats and all the distant layers of islands. Being winter, the fireplace kept us warm and cozy as well as providing great ambiance. The owners provided firewood and even brought us some extra when we had used up the provided supply. The full kitchen had everything we needed, even some cooking oil and spices, some local coffee beans and ice in the freezer. When we arrived, there were 2 champagne flutes set up with a bottle, music was playing, the cottage was warm and inviting, and the fire was all set up to be lit in the fireplace. How nice to walk into such an inviting little cottage. This place is very private and very comfortable. Bring your slippers as the floor was a bit cold but we were there in January. This place is a bit remote which we loved but you should be aware that the town is about 25 minute drive away so bring your groceries. For us, this was a good escape from the world. Orcas Island is a beautiful place, very low key. There are amazing places to hike on the island. Staying here felt as if we had entered a magical world, beautiful, quiet and simple. Oh, and the sunsets are amazing!

Thank you for reminding winter guests that ours is a shoe-less environment and that they would be happier if they brought warm slippers.

Breathtaking
This is the perfect romantic getaway for outdoor nature lovers. The view is absolutely breathtaking and the cottage could not be anymore charming. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and will be planning to come back in the future. We were there three nights and were wishing for one more our last night. We loved having all the windows and being able to hear the waves in the evening while also enjoying the glow and warmth of the fireplace.

Memories of Sea Dream Cottage
This cottage is truly a dream location for a peaceful getaway. The view and sunsets are spectacular. We arrived during a gentle rain to find hummingbirds outside the window, the stunning view, and a fire ready to be lit. We experienced almost instant relief from the stress of our long cross-country journey. The cottage is comfortable and designed to meet all of the needs of the host’s guests. The locally roasted coffee beans and coffee grinder provided by the hosts inspired me to put up my k-cup machine and to start using my coffee grinder.

Isle Dream, Pros and Cons
The “Isle Dream” cottage has some charming characteristics, but also has some troubling issues, ones that prospective renters should be aware of. The views from the deck and the cabin are great: you can see Eastsound and Crescent Beach to the north, as well as Mt. Constitution immediately to your east. And the location is a prime eagle watching area since the vertical slope provides views of eagles flying past at eye level. Additionally, the head of the bed is surrounded by windows that give the occupants beautiful views of the sound. The owners also provided a nice bottle of sparkling wine from Spain—a very nice touch. However, there are some definite problems with this property. First, you do not park next to the cabin but at the head of a trail about twenty feet above it and 150 feet away (not “100 feet” as the ad claims). The path is also fairly steep next to the parking pad, so at the end of your stay you will be carrying or rolling all your gear and luggage and supplies up this curving trail to your car. Isle Dream is thus not handicap friendly, and access is tough if you have arthritis or other ailments that affect your mobility. Second, despite what the brochure or other reviewers say, the property is not all that private. There is a neighboring house about 10 yards to the south, and all its windows (and deck) look straight down at Isle Dream. Moreover, this property’s owners have loud, barking dogs, and they are building another sleeping cabin even closer to Isle Dream so it will be even less private once that additional building is up and going. Third, some of the windows have screens and some do not—this omission is a real problem if you need air flow but don’t want bugs. We had to open all the windows and we soon had a massive moth invasion. All the windows should have screens—why would any property have some with and some without screens? Fourth, the deck furniture needs some serious upgrading. The existing bench and chair were serviceable but not comfortable, and the two Adirondack chairs were simply too rickety to even try. A great deck demands furniture to match. Finally, other items need attention. Only one of the two burners in the propane BBQ works; the shower pressure is very low, and the shower heads are not very good; and, speaking of water, it smells of Sulphur—a fact you don’t hear about until AFTER you have paid! According to the brochure and email there was supposed to be purified water there for renters to use, but we never saw any. If this unit’s rental price was $150-$175 a night one could live with such problems, I suppose. At that price, such weaknesses can become quaint subjects for future stories. But considering this property rents for $358-$378 a night, one expects far more; and it is clear that Isle Dream needs some serious maintenance by the owners. But as it stands now, this property is significantly over-priced for what you get (or don’t get), and prospective renters should go into the transaction with their eyes open and armed with facts, rather than reviews given by starry-eyed folks who use the word “magical” every other sentence.

Thank you for your thoughts. We appreciate feedback like yours because it gives us an opportunity to look and improve. Having said that, we are honest about the hillside nature of this property. We ask future guests to consider this before booking.

Perfect for a relaxing stay in a beautiful spot
We absolutely loved staying at Sea Dream and visiting Orcas Island. I was looking for a cottage or cabin with a private deck where we could sit and look out at the water, and hopefully see wildlife. That was the main criteria, and I was very happy to find Sea Dream. It was everything we wanted and more. The view from inside and outside the cottage is just beautiful. You see sparkling water, a few boats going by, islands near and in the distance, and gorgeous sunsets. Evidently the people who stayed right before we did saw Orcas from the deck! We didn't, but we enjoyed watching the seal that was always there. I even got to see him catch and eat a big fish one morning! That was really something else. (I watched him through binoculars that I brought with me.) The cottage is perfectly comfortable and well-appointed. You can tell that a lot of thought has gone into making it comfy. When we arrived, they even had the lights on, soft music playing, a bottle of champagne and two glasses set out, and the table was set, complete with blue hydrangeas in a vase. (Coincidentally, we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, and blue hydrangeas were the centerpiece flowers at my wedding reception.) It was such a warm welcome. I've stayed in many vacation rentals, and often there are things missing, like no tissues or plastic wrap for leftover food. Not so here. The kitchen is well stocked with all the supplies you need, and even olive oil and salt/pepper. They even provide whole coffee beans from a local roaster, and everything you need to make coffee. The owners were very kind and helpful - answered all my questions leading up to the trip. We really loved driving around the island, hiking in Moran State Park, kayaking and spending an afternoon/evening in Eastsound. What a charming little village! I wasn't expecting it to be so "polished", but it has some upscale little shops and restaurants, while still having a very down to earth, laid-back island vibe.

Great views, steep uneven steps and steep way to rocky beach were disappointing
We stayed 8 nights in May. The cottage is nice for two people. We cooked our meals and found the kitchen adequate, but you won't be making gourmet meals. The bed was really comfy. The bathroom really needs an upgrade and a deep cleaning as does the whole place. The water views and sunsets are spectacular. We were excited that the advert is at the waters edge, but it is a 20 foot drop and to a rocky beach. As kayakers we thought we could have the ease of launching from the cottage, but that was really difficult, as the beach is mostly rocks which could only be floated over at the highest tide. We thought the flagstone steps were tricky and wouldn't recommend for seniors.

About the neighborhood
Orcas Island is one of the most popular destinations in the San Juan Island chain located NW Washington State, USA. This beautiful island has something for everyone. It is a mix of arts, culture and history as well as an abundance of natural beauty - lush forests, glasslike lakes, bucolic valleys. Hike, bike or rent a kayak and paddle along its shores where the trees meet the water's edge; visit the charming villages all with their own character and sample the quality of our restaurants, boutiques and art galleries. At All dream Cottages, you may, if you choose, sit still and drink in the beauty of the surrounding property and views all while seeing various marine life (seal, otter, dolphins and occasional Orca whale), sea birds (gull,
Getting around
Orcas Island is 57 square miles BIG; It is the largest island in the San Juan Island chain in NW Washington. Because of its shape, it also has the most waterfront. In order to appreciate all that it offers, we recommend guests have a car. Most guests rent a car and drive it onto the ferry; for those walking on, rental cars are available on island. Foot traffic inter-island is free so that guests can explore the other islands cruising on the ferries. Guests have also brought bicycles and kayaks (both are also available to rent on island) to explore the nooks and hamlets as well as the surrounding sea.

How to get there
There are several modes of transportation to Orcas Island. Most often, people fly into Seattle or Bellingham, rent a car and take one of the iconic Washington State Ferries from Anacortes to the islands. Shuttle buses are also available to take you to the ferry landing. You now have the ability to make a reservation on the ferry for your car (walk-on passengers don’t require reservations.) It’s suggested to make check the website for Washington State Ferries and make reservations for your trip to Orcas, and your return to Anacortes. Visitors can also come by private boat, airplane or seaplane (including Kenmore Air) directly from several locations depending on the season.
