Our chalet offers holiday accommodation for 8 to 10 people. It has a warm, welcoming feel and is ideal for both family groups and groups of friends for week long skiing and snowboarding holidays. Our Chalet Catering: As said the cuisine is something we specialise in, what with the owner being a chef with 20 years of experience having worked in some top London Restaurants before he moved out here. We provide a good wholesome breakfast, with a variety of options, to set your day off to the right start. After a day in the mountains you will come back to sumptuous afternoon tea with a variety of homemade cakes and cookies At around 19.00 we offer drinks and a selection of canapès, in front of the fire, to whet your appetite for dinner. Dinner consist of 3 beautifully balanced, gourmet courses, carefully prepared with fresh ingredients. With dinner we offer selected red and white wines (all wines have the classification appellation controlée). Please note that Canapés and dinner are only served on 5 nights, Breakfast and afternoon tea on all 7 days Please also note that we need to know about any special dietary requirements in advance in order to offer you the best alternative menu. (should you only wish to go out on one of the two nights that Jerry does not cook, then for a fee of 200 euros ( 8 people ) he is more than happy to provide a simple reheat main course and dessert - Something like Lasagne and salad- Mixed berry cheesecake- OR fish pie and Apple crumble and homemade custard, ideally we would need to know before the week starts) The chalet occupies 3 floors. On the ground floor there is a large double bedroom (ideal as a family room as it can accommodate an additional single bed and cot), a private bathroom and a living room with tv and sky freeview. On the first floor there is a large living/dining room with a log fire and comfy chairs, in which to relax after a long day on the mountain. On the second floor there are 3 bedrooms (2 double ( on of these doubles can actually be a twin as well)and 1 twin) and a mezzanine (twin), sharing two bathrooms. In the main living room there is a i pod docking station. We have a good supply of books and games for your afternoon and evening entertainment and the chalet has high speed, WIFI internet access. The views from the living room, balcony and bedrooms are truly amazing, looking down over the valley and up the mountain to Meribel. Outside there is a heated ski boot room with boot warmers. Ideal for drying your boots and all of your outdoor clothes and for storing skis and prams. Please note that we have a no smoking policy throughout the chalet. Regarding Pets, lets talk, if you tell me your little pooch is the most well behaved animal ever then we would love to accommodated Ski Chalet Location: Our chalet is located in Le Cruet, a typically rustic French hamlet. The chalets in Le Cruet all have individual character, giving the hamlet a unique feel. Le Cruet has the advantage of being only 5 minutes drive from Meribel and we offer a twice DAILY TRANSFER to the main lifts in Meribel, so you don't have to carry your own equipment about. In addition there is a red piste running behind the chalet on which you can ski back for most of the season and a regular free bus service to Meribel not far from the chalet. Should you wish, we are happy to take guests up to Meribel after dinner (you will have to find your own way back but we can supply you with numbers for taxi companies or you can get the last bus). We are only a 10 minute walk from the small village of Les Allues, with its local shops and restaurants. We operate a daily transfer service to the main lift area and a pick service. It is possible to ski back to the chalet (conditions permitting) down a red run.

Perfect hospitality
This is a wonderful chalet and managed by Jerry, who is a complete gent. He is an exceptional chef proving a great morning cooked breakfast, an amazing afternoon tea and the most perfect evening meals. The chalet is run most efficiently and the private van journey to the piste each day means that the chalet is better located than many in the town of Meribel. Our family had a most enjoyable stay in this lovely chalet full of warm hospitality and would love to stay again. Thanks to Jerry and Bettina.

5 Star Experience Food & Service
A group of 6 Canadians landed on the door step of Chalet BARTAVELLE....upon arrival we were greeted by owner/Chef Jerry with a warm welcome and afternoon Tea. Bettina arrived shortly after. We experienced a covid delay the previous year and we were all pleased to finally begin our Ski holiday. After many emails it was nice to put a face to the people we were in touch with. The accommodations were comfortable, clean & cozy. The food was amazing.....best chef ever...every meal was a work of art and couldn't wait to see what we would be served next. The views from the Chalet were fabulous and walking trails accessible. The shuttle service by Jerry to the slopes each day were always set up based on our time there & back...Jerry was extremely accommodating. I wasn't able to ski on this trip (injury) but I had many a good conversations with Jerry while he was preparing for the next meal. We all enjoyed our stay and I think we are now spoiled and hard pressed to find a better vacation spot in the future. If you're on the fence and not sure about booking I strongly recommend Jerry & Bettina as your hosts. All amenities are as stated in their website and they go above & beyond for service. Jan 2023

Michelin Quality Food, a Cozy Chalet & Amazing Hosts.
We had a fantastic family Christmas break at Chalet Bartavelle in December 2022. Bettina is so well organised, everything was arranged in advance of our arrival making for a relaxing, stress free break, Jerry is an exceptional chef, his delicious food really made our holiday, we've been skiing in the French Alps for many years and have never had such delicious food. Jerry was very accommodating and did everything possible to make the logistics work ! We will certainly be back ! Thank you Jerry and Bettina !

Too good to be true
If you’re reading all the reviews and thinking oh they’re just being nice, you would be wrong. This is an amazing chalet with amazing hosts. From the start to finish Bettina & Jerry made our family holiday the most relaxing we’ve had in a long time. Bettina was great in sorting all the information for ski passes, ski hire & lessons, they even organised a airport transfer meaning we literally stepped off the plane to start our holiday. All was taken care of before our arrival and waiting for us when we got there. The fitting of ski hire took place the evening we arrived before our aperos which Jerry excelled at, alongside an awesome three course dinner with flowing wine - just what a weary traveller needs. The food is SO good, Jerry is a fine chef and you will feel like you are fine dining every night and his amazing breakfast will definitely set you up for the day. The rooms & beds are extremely comfortable with lots of storage & hanging space. The added bonus of having a drop off & pick up from the slopes every day at a time to suit you was just fantastic. I could go on & on with praise but go & find out for yourselves, you will not be disappointed. We can’t wait to go back! Thank you Jerry & Bettina

Lovely chalet great food
We stayed with another family over half term. Jerry was an excellent host . As a group we had a long list of foods to avoid and he was very accommodating. Breakfast and dinner each night were excellent... with an early seating for our kids. Jerry was also took the strain out of our stay . We had our ski passes waiting for us on arrival, he picked up packed lunch items for us and kindly went out of his way on our last day when one of our group fractured his collarbone..... dropping here, picking up etc. Thank you Jerry we had a lovely week . We hope to see you again at some point in the future .

Incredible food, beautiful location, excellent proximity to the slopes, flawless host
The entire experience was delightful! From the moment we arrived Jerry (owner, chef and man in the know) could not have been more helpful. The party arrived, slightly disheveled form the voyage, in the mid afternoon. We were greeted by a warm, comfy and immaculate house with a fire lit and warm cake (as an avid eater of cake I can assure this was good cake!) and tea waiting for us. Jerry suggested a ski rental and directed us to the nearest town. After arriving back from collecting our skis we were able to store our boots and skis in the heated boot room - warm boots, something not to be taken for granted, a luxury. Jerry informed us that drinks and canapés were served at 7pm and then dinner followed at 7.30pm. Jerry never over sold his food or was anything other than extremely modest although he had ever right not to be! The food he served every night was amazing - three courses of deliciousness with nicely matched wine. Jerry then left us at 9.30 to sit full and a little tipsy in front of the fire. The rest of the days merged into a tranquil ski and glorious food bubble! Jerry would drop us off at the slopes in the morning once we had eaten a cooked (or not) breakfast. He would then collect us and bring us home for fresh cake and tea. There was then time for a shower and nap before dinner - heaven. I can't put into words how much i enjoyed our time there i would recommend a stay there to anyone! Should you want to venture out of the chalet there was excellent bus routes and Jerry was very helpful in directing us anywhere we should want to go. Thanks Jerry

Just a note on Ski hire we try to get guest to use a local online company that deliver and fit at the chalet, Fantastic equipment and an amazing service, we get you all discount and it makes for such a more relaxed start to the week than going into a busy shop. Another fantastic week at Chalet Bartavelle
This was our third fantastic stay at Chalet Bartavelle. The chalet is situated in a quaint alpine village and has delightful mountain views. It’s really homely and very comfortably furnished; in the evening with the log fire burning it’s even more cosy. What makes staying at Chalet Bartavelle truly outstanding is Jerry and Bettina’s fantastic hospitality and great attention to detail. They’re super-efficient and go the extra mile to ensure we have a completely hassle-free holiday. They arrange transfers, equipment hire and lift passes. After breakfast Jerry drives us the short distance (less than 10 minutes) up to the slopes and returns in the afternoon to collect us. I haven’t yet mentioned the food; all I can say is YUM!. Breakfast includes a tempting cooked option, and irresistible homemade cakes await when we return from the slopes. Evening meals are the culinary highlight and Jerry’s menus are always creative and absolutely delicious. Every week we’ve spent at Chalet Bartavelle has been really special and memorable, and we’re already planning our next visit!

Every need catered for all you have to so is ski and eat.
Or stay at Chalet Bartavelle was wonderful, hosted by Jerry who is unruffled, friendly and efficient. Jerry and Bettina looked after our every need from ski hire, and piste advice to booking taxis etc. He is a superb chef making mouth watering, tasty dinners with well thought out complex flavours and the hearty English breakfasts got us zinging down the slopes. Not many reviews mention the beds, they are really comfy and the bedside light is bright enough to read by. The apres ski experience in the lounge with open fire is superb

Chalet Bartavelle - fine food, good company, great skiing
Chalet Bartavelle is tucked away in the snowy, alpine vista of the Savoie region of the French Alps, which we discovered through word of mouth from close friends. Ideally located to ski the three valley’s ski area, the Chalet is owned and operated by Gerry Mant, a qualified chef who spends a lot of the week, in a friendly but unobtrusive way, whipping up gourmet, après ski, 3 course banquets from fresh local produce, in a varied and flavourful weekly menu. All this while describing the history and culture of the area and most importantly the best places to ski. Chalet Bartavelle is best shared with 6-10 people who enjoy skiing. Gerry provides flexible minibus transfers to lesser known and uncrowded skiing drops offs. Passes, ski hire, taxis and other services magically appear from the surrounding villages via a network of connections. The Trois Valliee’s ski field is vast and new runs are continually discovered even after 5-6 days of skiing. Most lifts have blue, red and black runs in parallel, allowing skiers of differing abilities to ski together happily at everyone’s appropriate level of competence. On sunny days the views of the French Alps are unsurpassed and we shared a magnificent view of Mount Blanc, the highest mountain in Europe, at the top of one chairlift. I can’t recommend visiting the 3 valley’s highly enough for skiing, but the open fire, beautiful food and great company at Chalet Bartavelle was the secret ingredient that made the holiday such a success.

Fantastic week
I can not recommend Jerry and this chalet highly enough. The chalet is really cosy and homely with views to die for. It is situated in the pretty hamlet of Le Cruet where there are still proper farms and locals with time to speak. 5 mins to the slopes by Jerry’s minibus in the morning but light years from the busy centre of Méribel. The food....Jerry is one class act. Well thought out and well delivered food show his background of cooking in some serious culinary establishments in both London and internationally. He displays a relaxed charm that belies attention to detail, care and passion that makes a stay in this chalet an absolute joy If you like great food, great service in a lovely chalet with easy access to one of the world’s great ski areas then I would unhesitatingly recommend a stay in this chalet with Jerry looking after you. Can I find a fault. Honestly, I can’t. Would I recommend it? 100% yes.

About the neighborhood
Méribel boasts a wide range of activities other than skiing. There is a sports centre built for the 1992 Olympics with an ice-skating rink, heated swimming pool, sauna, Jacuzzi, steam room and bowling alley. A Cinema, numerous shops, restaurants, bars and nightclubs combine to make up the superior facilities of Méribel. Le Cruet is a typically rustic French hamlet. The chalets in Le Cruet all have individual character, giving the hamlet a unique feel. Le Cruet has the advantage of being only 5 minutes drive from lively Méribel, with its many activities and night life and being even closer to the small village of Les Allues, with its local shops and restaurants. Le Cruet itself is peaceful; the perfect place to relax and enjoy the amazing views. In the mornings we will take you up to the lifts in Méribel and pick you up again in the afternoon. In good conditions it is possible to ski to the door. There is also a bus service, which runs between Meribel and le Cruet, in case you should want to come back early one day. Should you want to go out in Méribel after dinner, we will be happy to take you up there and make sure you have details of taxis to get back home again. SUMMER Summer in Méribel is something everyone should experience at least once. The scenery is beautiful, with numerous sporting activities for the energetic, such as walking, hiking, mountain biking, white-water rafting, parapenting, tennis, horse riding and much more. If you like your holidays more relaxed, why not come and just enjoy the beautiful surroundings and fill your days with gentle walks and lunches in Méribel, Les Allues or in our garden. You could also swim in in- or outdoor pools and perhaps take a daytrip to the historic and beautiful town of Annecy with its nearby lake. For the golf enthusiast, there is the Méribel 18 hole golf course, described by Peter Allis, as one of the best golf courses in the Alps. Why not come and stay with us in the beautiful hamlet of le Cruet, the perfect setting for unwinding in a proper French village. We will be happy to help you organise the holiday to suit you, whether you want to relax or fancy an action packed sporting holiday. We offer a number of options to suit your needs. You can choose our fully catered option, where we will provide all your meals (excluding lunch), so there is no need to worry about shopping for breakfast or dinner or spend your energy cooking. Jerry will put together a delicious, light, summer menu for you and as an optional extra, he can prepare you a fantastic picnic, to take with you for your day’s activities, so you don't even have to worry about lunch. Alternatively you can choose self catered or bed and breakfast. On both of these options you can order a 3 course gourmet dinner with wine, giving at least 24 hours notice).

It is possible to sleep an extra 2 people in our mezzanine and for this we charge a small supplement of €450 per person per week. AVAILABILITY FOR SMALLER GROUPS For certain off peak weeks we are now offering smaller parties the option of staying at Chalet Bartavelle with other groups. Our chalet sleps up to 10 people and is normally sold as a whole but for off peak weeks we are offering smaller groups the option of sharing our charming chalet with other groups, so if you are a couple or small group don't miss this opportunity to stay at our lovely chalet and enjoy the gourmet cooking.
