Our home is a tall, old town house slotted into the bend of a quiet side street. No two walls are at right angles, so modernising the interior was a challenge. What we haven't done is change the character of the house. What we have done is made it really comfortable, put in three new bathrooms and given you a great base for your holiday. NEW FOR 2019: We have converted the original kitchen into a modern, downstairs bedroom looking on to the private courtyard. It retains some of it's original features, like the pink marble sink, and chimney breast, and has a new en-suite WC. It's a great base if you enjoy walking, trekking or riding in the valleys and mountains. We have had some big parties of friends and family here—the house takes 10 easily (12 if you are good friends), but we have also been really comfy as a couple too. There is a large dining room and two very different sitting rooms as well as a private courtyard and terrace.More

The owners of the property were extremely pleasant and helpful during our phone and e-mail dealings, and we were met on arrival by the housekeeper, who spoke perfect English. Prades is a small but bustling town, approximately 30km west of Perpignon, and set against the...More

We were a party of 8 adults and stayed for a week in this house. The house itself has authentic old-world charm including a roof-top terrace and spiral staircase that connects four floors. It was plenty spacious for us. The table in the kitchen and...More

Just returned from two weeks in Prades. We'd agree with almost all of the previous reviewers' comments. We were blessed with lovely weather and ate every meal on the roof terrace except maybe two. Amazing mountain views, ever changing as the sun moves round and...More

This is an interesting house but would challenge anyone with mobility problems as stairs are quite steep & there are 4 floors. We loved the roof terrace with its fabulous views and ate up there often or just relaxed. Prades is not overly friendly even...More

It certainly is an interesting house! It is, and always will be, a work in progress for us. The kitchen was the very first thing we worked on over ten years ago now. Last year we spent a large amount of money restoring the whole...More

We loved this cool shabby chic house with four floors and a fabulous view from the roof terrace - where we spent each evening absorbed with our very own mountain. It is so very french feeling with its shutters and sprial stairscase. (The stairs might...More

There are cafes, brasseries and restaurants as well as a good range of shops all around the town square. There are events and festivals throughout the year. Spanish cellist Pablo Casals fled to Prades during the Spanish civil war, stayed and established the festival that now bears his name. The Catalan summer school takes over the town for two weeks in August, and there is dancing in the square every night. Mediterranean beaches are 30 minutes away. There is some great walking, as well as fishing, windsurfing, climbing and other outdoor activities available nearby. In winter the nearest ski resorts are just 45km away. There are pretty town...
