Good location in pleasant village, suitable as base for mountains and coast with short drive to restaurants and shops in Prades

We had a great stay in the beautiful 'river apartment' and loved every moment of it. The building is a lovely old French house with a wonderfully grand entrance hall and all the character and charm you would expect to find in a period French building. The apartment itself was perfect for us. Original tiled floors in the bedrooms, stripped wood floors in the living room and a fabulous fireplace with a huge wood burning stove, perfect for cold evenings curled up in front of the fire. The main bedroom has its own private balcony over looking the river below and we enjoyed sitting in the evenings with a glass of wine listening to the flow of the water. It is set back from quite a busy road but we didn't have any problems with noise in the apartment and it was extremely handy for trips up into the mountains. There are several ski resorts all under an hour away which we made the most of during our stay! Andorra is also only an hour and a half too. You can also take the 1 euro train from the village into Perpignan, an absolute bargain and much more relaxing than taking the car. There are great picturesque walks you can do from the apartment including a nice easy walk into nearby Prades or up to Villefranche de Conflent for the slightly more adventurous! The hosts, Patrick and Catherine are brilliant, so friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. They often left us little surprises such as fresh bread or cakes, which was a really lovely touch. We absolutely loved our time in Ria and couldn't recommend it highly enough. We will be back!

This area of France is very scenic with scope to sample many things. Andorra is about 1 hr 45 mins away and a great place for an overnight stay with fab duty free shoping, had an enjoyable ski lift ride also! About an hour and a half away is Roses in spain - a nice marina resort with lots of interesting "gin palaces" to oggle! In the very near locality is many interesting places to visit, ie Villefrance, Eus, and superb beaches are to be found nearby at Perpignon. Apartment itself was spacious and light and the facilities very good. The welcome from the owner who lives nearby was excellent and very friendly, cooked us dinner on the first night and shared several of his bottles of wine with us, our holiday so busy we did not get to repay the nice gesture - however if you are reading this Padraigh - thank you very much!!! Weather was fab 32 -39 degrees every day - was a shock to come back to England which was cold, drab and grey. Will definately go back to this area of France again and would have no hesitation in staying at this apartment again - a very enjoyable holiday!

Although waiting for local mayor to approve renovation of the outside, the inside has been finished to the highest standards. Everything you could want on a holiday and some more. The Private balcony is a great way to finish each day, looking out over the village. Plenty to do and see in the area, well worth a visit.
