Berryville, Virginia
John Wayne, the namesake of this quaint guest house, was among many esteemed guests to the Rosemont Estate during its rich 200 year history. The John Wayne Lodge, built in the early 20th century, is surrounded by rare, historic trees and is just a stone's throw from the battle lines of the Battle of Berryville, fought in September 1864. A three-bedroom, 1.5-bath guest house, the John Wayne is situated on a secluded, partially wooded two-acre lot located within the Rosemont Estate Grounds. Fully furnished with living room, dining room, full-sized kitchen, hardwood floors, and Fijitsu heating and cooling inverter. Utilities included. Screened-in side porch. Plenty of parking available. Sleeps up to 13 (two queens, two singles, one set of single bunk beds, two queen sleeper sofas, one single sleeper sofa).

The guests houses are available for rent if the main Bed & Breakfast is not rented out for an event. The staff was extremely friendly, the property views were gorgeous, and the house was clean and well kept and offered a private setting. Highly recommend this hidden gem!

Management response:

We appreciate you being able to spend a weekend with us. The three guest houses --the John Wayne along with the two Civil War Confederate and Union Officer guest houses are also available during the week for daily, weekly, or even monthly rentals. Please come back and visit again! William Genda, Owner

The John Wayne House is located on a former US Senator's property. The property is historic for the people who stayed there over the years including Winston Churchill and other notable people including John Wayne. It is said John Wayne stayed in this one of several houses on the property. It can accommodate at least 13 people. There are two upstairs bedrooms, one downstairs and sleeper sofas to accommodate the rest. Very comfortable, very modern updates and very quiet. There is a John Wayne autographed poster as the centerpiece in the living room. As a caution, assign members of your party who have no trouble climbing steps to the rooms. The stairs are steep as older steps are and handrails should be extended. I highly recommend this place for family reunions.

Management response:

We are glad you enjoyed your stay! I will take your recommendation to heart and have the handrail extended in the next few weeks. Thank you for your input. William Genda Owner
