Our totally private and fully furnished home in France is 200 years old and once belonged to the Chateau of Portes perched above. The property has magnificent views over the far side of the valley and large natural grounds. The whole house would be yours - it certainly isn't a property that has been split up into several gites!

The fully-equipped kitchen/dining area has a table and chairs, and leads to the very comfortable sitting room, tastefully furnished with armchairs and sofas and with a log burner. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one kingsize and one with three single beds, a shower room, and a loo. On the lower ground floor accessed by outside steps is our Games Room with TV, library of books, table tennis table and various games.

If you enjoy outdoors exploring, walking, cycling, fis... We found Le Mas des Grailles a comfortable and well-equipped holiday home, spacious enough to accommodate two couples but not too large or impersonal. The two terraces on opposite sides of the house enabled us to make the most of the weather and to eat outside on many occasions although our holiday was quite early in the year. The old...

5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We stayed for two weeks in June 2015. Previous comments about a badly surfaced track into the property no longer apply - it's been repaired and our Audi estate had no problems at all. We've been renting gîtes in France for decades and this is one of the most comfortable and well-equipped we have found (wi-fi and tv included). The...

Management response:

Dear Jean & John, Many thanks for your kind comments. Most of all I am delighted that you had an excellent holiday…after all, this is the aim of renting Mas des Grailles ! You would be most welcome back any time. With best regards, Maggie

This place could be very good if more care and attention was focused on it. The problems start with the drive down to the house. About a third is a driveway, the remainder is a pot holed track. The regular drive back and forth over a 2 week stay caused damage to the bottom of our low estate car. The...

Management response:

We fell in love with Mas des Grailles, set in the magnificent Cevennes National Park, surrounded by stunning scenery. It is neither overlooked nor visible by another property. The grounds are left natural (as described in all advertisements) in order to encourage as much wildlife as possible; deer, hares and wild boar are frequent visitors – perhaps one of the...
