Cabin
At this cozy rustic mountain retreat you are perched near top of Pine Mountain, yet minutes from dining and entertainment Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg offer. On a clear day you can watch sunrise over the mountains without leaving warmth of the king size bed. The traditional Appalachian style cabin is ideal for two people. Additional two can be accommodated on sofa bed downstairs. It's possible to hike to the top of Pine Mountain. It's a 20 min hike from the cabin but it can be tricky getting to the very top because of fallen trees. Exercise caution and you will be rewarded by panoramic views of the area. The short drive from Pigeon Forge to Gatlinburg takes you through the forest along the rushing mountain river. It's lovely any time of the year. After exciting scenic drive to the cabin you will keep going even higher as there are 33 log stairs from the driveway to the cabin entrance. Most people love this but it may not be for everyone. In late spring and summer lush foliage obscures distant views making it feel like you're deep in the forest. Don't worry if you're snowed in - there is WI-FI, Apple TV, and a small DVD library at your disposal. What to pack: Pigeon Forge is in a semi-dry (restricted alcohol sales) county so pack accordingly. We leave candles around the cabin when we visit but they may be used up so pack a few to use responsibly. Same goes for coffee, sugar, oil, salt & pepper. Hiking boots are always a good idea in the mountains. Bug spray is useful in late spring and summer. You don't need to pack soap, sheets, towels, or hair dryer. Cabin is fully equipped with cooking pots and pans, utensils, cups and glasses and all important wine opener. Coffee maker and toaster are provided as well. Please see driving directions I posted even if you are using GPS. House Manual Well behaved pets are allowed. Do not leave pets alone in the cabin. $50 pet fee +$25 for each additional animal. TV/Apple TV: For cable, set input to TV. Make sure TV is on channel 3. We added the Apple TV to the entertainment options at the cabin. To use it, with Xfinity remote in TV mode, set input to HD. Then change Xfinity remote mode to AUX and press OK button to turn on the Apple TV. If you don't see the main menu, press menu button. Contact me if you have any difficulties. You can also use your iPhone or iPad as the remote by installing 'Remote' app. Trash: It's best not to take trash outside until last morning before departure because it may attract forest animals. Fireplace: Fireplace can be used from October 1 through May 1 only. Firewood is not provided and can be picked up at the base in Kroger, Exxon gas station, or at many other locations along the way. Firewood at the cabin is not seasoned and is not for use. There will be $50 fee if firewood at the cabin is used. If you would like to pre-order firewood for longer stays I can arrange to have it waiting for you for additional fee. Please keep in mind that the minimum amount that can be delivered is a rick and prices range from $75-100 depending on supply and demand at any given time. Hot Tub: On rare occasion the digital temperature control crashes and hot tub is not getting hot. This requires a reboot which is done by flipping the breaker switch off and on. The breaker box is located outside at the rear corner of the cabin. Switch it off, wait few seconds, switch it on, and the issue is resolved. Grill: Charcoal grill is available and can be used year round. Charcoal is not provided. When disposing charcoal ashes, please sweep them into the metal can. The area around the grill can have dry leaves and twigs. If you drop any burning coal from the grill use some water to extinguish it. Do not pour water on the grill. Misc: - The jacuzzi tub jets are switched on in the kitchen using the switch labeled Spa. Please do not turn this switch on if there is no water in the tub. For best experience follow the instructions posted above the switch. - If you are at the cabin during winter months and freezing temperatures are expected please contact us for additional instructions to prevent water pipes from freezing and leaving you without water. - Switch labeled 'Stairs' turns on the outside flood light that illuminates the stairs leading to the cabin. It's a motion activated light that switches on after dark. The switch should be left in on position at all times. - Because of its location high up the cabin uses a septic system. Please be aware that excessive water use in short period of time can overwhelm the system and cause backups. You don't have to conserve water - only not let it run needlessly. If you notice a leaking toilet that doesn't stop when flushed again please notify us so we can address as quickly as possible. - During summer months there are lots of flying insects in the forest. The deck housing the hot tub is screened in. At night it's best to enter the cabin from the screened deck to minimize the chance of insects getting inside. More

This cabin was the perfect couples getaway. Everything was as described, but still exceeded my expectation. Really clean with modern amenities in a rustic cabin. It is within minutes of Pigeon Forge and about 20 min from the Sugarland Visitor Center or Gatlinburg. Even thought...More

This cabin was smaller than I expected so I recommend it for couples only. There are also quite a few steps so I don’t recommend it for those who are elderly or disabled. It was clean and cozy and very quiet despite other cabins being...More

It's unfortunate you didn't read our description to see if our cabin is good match for you (stairs and size). That ends in a mediocre stay for you and unnecessary 3/5 review for us when 99% of our guests rank us 5/5. The cabin in...More

Our stay was wonderful. The cabin was everything that the pictures showed. Very clean and the owner checked in to see if we needed anything. Can't say enough how much we enjoyed staying there.

About the neighborhood
We would like you to be 'five star' happy with cabin's location so here is more information to help you make informed choice. Pine Mountain peaks at the elevation of 1850 ft above sea level and is the highest point in immediate surroundings of Pigeon Forge. The cabin is uniquely located near its peak in peaceful and quiet setting yet within Pigeon Forge city limits and only minutes from the Parkway. In the evenings, especially during late fall and winter when foliage is down, you can see the panoramic view of the city lights of the Pigeon Forge and surrounding mountains. If you're looking for best of both worlds, this location is a great choice. If however you would prefer either complete seclusion or staying in town proper, you should keep looking for something better suited to your needs.
