Well I guess there’s a flip side to every story and as this is the first thoroughly negative review we have received over the last 8 years I feel obliged to offer some explanation . This party of 4 were our first guests post-lockdown and we were only permitted to let the property under strict regulations . When they invited an additional four adult guests to share the space with them on Saturday evening I felt I had to remind them that the chalet only caters for four people not eight . The leader of the party said he understood and asked that they just have a barbecue outside . Rather than spoil their evening I said this would be ok but that guests had to stay outside . Half an hour later I noticed smoke coming from the deck area of the chalet and had to ask them to move their disposable barbecues away from the all-wooden , dry and flammable chalet to the designated fire pit area complete with logs , grill , tongs etc . At the same time I asked the leader of the party to make sure that the fire was out at the end of the evening before retiring . I have to say at this point that I was concerned and when I took the dog out at around nine o clock I did a quick check to see if all was well . I found the fire still burning outside and everyone else inside the chalet despite them being specifically told not to share the internal space . I knocked the door and reminded the party leader and his wife that this was not permitted and that their 4 guests would have to leave . The leader then became belligerent and accused me of ruining their holiday . When I pointed out the Covid regulations his reply of “yes but who will know ? “ tells you all you need to know about their regard for rules and regulations . I contacted Trip Advisor the next morning and they sent a warning to the leader pointing out his obligations as a guest in the property . They also said I we were perfectly within our rights to terminate the holiday on the spot . It was however the party who decided to leave of their own accord next morning and and I would respectfully suggest that rather than blaming me for ruining their holiday that he should perhaps look at his own part in events leading to this point . We are not in the habit of monitoring our guests in any way , one of the things people really appreciate about the space is the seclusion and peace it offers . We generally only interact with guests at arrival and I think they appreciate being left to enjoy the space on their own . On the plus side the chalet was left beautifully clean and tidy the next day .
