The Coach House This enchanting house once stored a horse drawn cart and provided quarters for a farm servant above. We have converted it to provide cosy accommodation for two and the photographs will show you what to expect. The downstairs comprises an open plan sitting room, dining area and fitted kitchen. There is a “Clearview” wood burning stove and the floor is Welsh Slate, also sits a large wool rug. Full length windows looking onto open countryside. The bird feed will keep you well entertained. On the first floor there is a double bedroom with a separate shower room, toilet and wash hand basin. Outside, a barbeque, table and chairs all within easy walking distance of the kitchen. Facing south, allowing sunshine all day. , The spacious grounds surrounding The Coach House exten...The Coach House This enchanting house once stored a horse drawn cart and provided quarters for a farm servant above. A perfect couple-sized rural retreat, in beautiful countryside with the sea close by
This is an ideal, traditional property for two people. It has been lovingly restored and sympathetically converted into a very attractive, relaxing cottage by the owner Maureen who is on hand in the main farmhouse to welcome you on arrival. It is very well equipped and furnished and has a brilliant wood burner which made our stay in February extremely cosy. The property is secluded and very quiet, but Criccieth and the coast are only about ten minutes drive away. There is a good choice of walks on the coastal path or inland and this is an interesting and beautiful part of North Wales, with numerous places of interest within easy reach. We will look forward to booking this cottage again when we next decide to visit the area.

Perfect, peaceful, paradise
The property was situated along country lanes and very secluded. It is set in the garden of the owner Maureen. The garden is amazing with so much bird life to watch. The property is an ample size for two people and very well equipped with everything and more that you would need for a holiday. The bed was the most comfortable that we have had in a holiday property, and we have stayed in a few! There was a never ending supply of wood for the log burner which we enjoyed lighting every night. Maureen was available if we needed her but also was happy to leave us to ourselves. This has been a truly wonderful stay in a little piece of Welsh paradise.

Criccieth Stay
Stayed in the Coach House which was very comfortable if somewhat small even for two people. But still worth the money. Location is a bit remote, but the wildlife just outside the door made up for all that. This is definitely for those who want a peace and quiet away from it all place to stay. Wi-fi is available but somewhat sporadic due to the location. Would suggest that a shaver socket be fitted in the bathroom.

Roger and Deidre...Thank you for 5* accolade. I'm sorry that you felt the Coach House was small, but in the visitors book you wrote "perfect accommodation" just a little confused. We are only a ten minute drive away from the nearest town of Criccieth. With regards to WiFi connection, it is not the location but, (thank you for pointing this out) I had the engineer check the system. He found a faulty transmitter box and now this has been replaced. There is a shaver adaptor supplied, which then can be fitted into the switch in the bedroom with a mirror above. Look forward to welcoming you again in the future. Best regards Maureen

Lovely place to stay
The Coach house is small but absolutely perfect for two people, a base for exploring North Wales. It is so quiet and peaceful. We shared the surroundings with a lovely pheasant who came to visit us every day. The house is well equipped and cosy. Maureen left us fresh flowers and a lovely fruitcake as well as milk for our first cup of tea. Lovely place to stay.

Perfection
If two of you(and your dog) want to get away from it all, but with all mod cons should you require them (wifi, dishwasher, satellite TV) etc then this immaculately clean and well-kept home-from-home is the place for you. The helpful owner is on hand should you have any problems, but other that leaves you to enjoy the peace and quiet of the Welsh countryside broken only by the twittering of the birds, the caw of a pheasant, and the occasional fast jet! At night you can star gaze to the sound of the owls hooting in a nearby wood. It is within a few miles of both the coast and the mountains so there is plenty of sightseeing to be done, but on wet days you can stoke up the wood burner and watch the mixed variety of birds on the feeder. The perfect place to chill. Highly recommended.

Perfect little holiday cottage
Spent 5 nights in this lovely cottage. Maureen was an excellent host, very friendly and welcoming - but made sure we had our own space. The cottage had everything that we needed and was perfect for a couples getaway. It was well presented, lovely and clean and provided us with all the necessary amenities, whilst retaining a rustic charm; the perfect place to stay in the area! I'm sure we'll be retuning to this beautiful cottage!

We were made very welcome by Maureen the owner. We had milk, chocolates, fruit tea bags etc. a very welcome pack. Maureen had even lit the fire for us which was most delightful. Loved every minute and every bird so relaxing over such a busy period. Will definitely be back

Lovely cosy holiday cottage
Just returned from a lovely restful week in the Coach House. Maureen made us feel very welcome and the cottage is beautiful, very comfortable and cosy, with everything you need for a relaxing holiday. We enjoyed watching the birds on the feeder, jays, nuthatch , blue tits, woodpeckers to name a few, not forgetting the squirrel! Highly recommended, thank you Maureen !

Just coming to the end of our stay here, don't want to go home. It is wonderful. Isolated, peaceful and beautiful. The Coach House is clean, decorated well and has been thoughtfully fitted out with quality fixtures and fittings. Judge pans, a fantastic Mira shower, Panasonic TV, Bosch dishwasher, and it just goes on. No cheap tacky fittings and no cheap-skating by the owner. Which brings us to Maureen, a wonderful lady. Gave us a very warm welcome and lots of goodies and then, although available, just left us to it. We appreciate that and, well it's just fantastic. We have every intention of coming back.

About the neighborhood
We are located right in the centre of the Llyn Peninsula, a short drive from the town of Criccieth. To the East is Porthmadog, West takes you to Abersoch and North to Caernarfon, Bangor and a trip over the Menai Straits to Anglesey will not be wasted. Criccieth boasts a clean beach with views over Cardigan Bay and the Cambrian Coastline, (catch the train from Criccieth Railway Station; on a clear day, the route to Machylleth takes you right alongside this magnificent scenery) The ancient castle sits high on its hill and is open for you to visit and you'll stand in awe as you imagine centuries old living. Golf, Sailing, Clay Pigeon Shooting, Horse Riding, Walking, Cycling... there is an endless list of activity and attraction.
Getting around
It goes without saying that to stay here and get around you'll need a motor car! There are buses, plenty of taxi firms, (if you want an evening out and not have to drive home.) If you're a cyclist then you'll find the lanes easy and forgiving, and it's not far to the pub either!

How to get there
From the East, take the A497 from Porthmadog, drive West through the town of Criccieth, drive for another mile or so and by-pass Llanystumdwy and take the next right. After 100 metres turn left and almost immediately, left again, (stone lodge on your right). You are now driving on country lanes. After ½ mile drive over the stone bridge, (River Dwyfach) and bear right up a sharp hill where the road takes you round to the right, and then the left. After another mile you reach a “T” junction, turn right. After 100 metres turn left. Drive through winding lanes for another mile, past a white house on your right, until you see another white house on your right, a post box on your left, and 2 houses ahead – TURN RIGHT HERE. Tyddyn y Felin is the first property on your right 400 metres up this lane.
