Cottage
Harviestoun House is a totally refurbished 2 storey sandstone cottage in the heart of Dollar, a picturesque small town at the foot of the Ochil hills 13 miles east of the historic city of Stirling. Steeped in history, Dollar has all facilities including cafes, restaurants and shopping on your doorstep.
First impression: perhaps the cleanest rental I have ever seen. Very well provisioned - cooking utensils, board games (we played a four-day game of Monopoly!), bathroom amenities, firewood, kitchen basics and a welcoming gift of wine, shortbread, and milk in the fridge! Very responsive owner. Four adults and two children in our party..plenty of space and privacy for all. Situated in the village of Dollar, close to cafe, deli, grocery store, pharmacy, etc., surrounded by scenic hills, close to Stirling, Edinburgh, Glasgow. We did the local walk to Castle Campbell, with stunning views. Completely positive experience.

Clean comfortable and cosy
Loved the cottage. It was ideal for the seven of us. But plenty of room for eight. Three super king beds which you could have as singles and a double. They were all very comfortable and we all slept well. The kitchen had everything you needed in it. Two shower rooms and a bathroom all had great showers. A cosy living room with a log burner. Logs supplied. And the whole cottage was very clean. Definitely recommend this cottage to my friends and family and hopefully we will get to stay there again.

Simply perfect.
The stay of the gust was outstanding good. There were no probles with cooperation and communication with the hosts. We could always count on help and a friendly hand. The House itself is very cosy and large and there are really no problems to accomodate 6-7 people ( even with such number of persons it's not crowdy there).
We will certainly come back!

Two small quibbles, otherwise perfection!
The house is comfortable, spacious, and superbly appointed. It's a brand-new house INSIDE of a charming old stone one. Everything you could possibly need is there, and you'll have room to spread out comfortably. Would definitely book again on our next visit, and would HIGHLY recommend. First quibble: showers and tubs are very slick in Scotland (Ireland too). The slippery footing feels dangerous for elderly people, so we purchased a shower mat with suction cups, which made us feel safer. The house owners might want to consider providing non-slip mats. Second quibble: light from street lights is not blocked by the very attractive blinds on the windows. Room-darkening curtains or shades would be a nice addition. So, if you're elderly, have unsure footing, and have trouble sleeping . . . take a sleep mask and buy a non-slip mat for less than 3 pounds. But book this wonderful, superbly located house as your base in Scotland!

A wonderful family stay!
My family and I stayed in Harviestoun cottage for 4 nights for my recent wedding and it was the perfect base for a special family occasion. The house was modern, well equipped and spotlessly clean. The bedrooms were all warm and comfortable and the living area and kitchen were great social spaces for family meals and relaxing by the wood burning fire. The numerous bathrooms made it easy for myself and my bridal party to get ready on the morning of the wedding and provided a great backdrop for some photos. Thanks so much, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay :-)
(It didn't matter hugely to us but some extra utensils such as salad spoons etc would have been helpful!)

Wonderful
In Dollar to visit a friend who booked this for us, so we ( group of 4 ) hadn't much idea of where we were going to stay - Harviestoun House was fantastic. It's obviously been recently refurbished to a very high standard, everything you could possibly need, everything spotlessly clean. All four bedrooms ( two up, two down ) are good sized, and if the rest of the beds were anything like mine, extremely comfortable, with crisp white linen. Two shower rooms downstairs ( 1 ensuite ) and a bathroom with shower over upstairs, all good. Kitchen and utility well equipped with enough crockery/cutlery to be able to put the dirty ones in the dishwasher without running out of clean ones ! Comfy sofas in the living room, two good TVs, and excellent wifi.
Easy ( level ) walk into the centre of Dollar where there are a few eating places and a Co-op and a deli for groceries. Parking was on-street but very easy in the road opposite. Not much by way of outside space - small courtyard area at back - but there's a lovely park area just opposite and the magnificent backdrop of the Ochil Hills.
Was a bit concerned that being on the main road through Dollar it might be noisy but it wasn't at all, there really isn't too much traffic here.
Dollar itself is lovely, we did a lot of strolling around, climbed up the glen to the castle, visited the museum ( small but very interesting, run by knowledgeable and helpful volunteers ).
All in all this is a great property in a fantastic area - highly recommended.

Fabulous house in the perfect location.
The house was exactly as described (only better). The rooms were spacious and immaculately clean and well equipped. There were 8 adults in our group - mixture of family and friends. No trouble at all finding the house - instructions were helpful and clear. We were in town to attend a wedding and tour a bit of the Highlands, Edinburgh and Fife. Great location to do all of that and more. Picturesque town with great cafe, deli and restaurant. Couldn't be more pleased.
