Mondhui itself has been a settlement since prehistoric times and above the property there are ’cup and rings’ markings. Within the grounds is a duck flighting pond which is ideal for bird watchers and beside the cottage there is a small pond. The area is a haven for birds and other wildlife including osprey, red kites, red squirrels, red deer, pine marten and badgers. From the door of the cottage you can walk directly up into the Menteith Hills and join the Rob Roy Way with hundreds of miles of forest track easily accessible.
The cottage is furnished in a contemporary, country style with handmade wooden kitchen units, granite worktops and solid oak flooring throughout. Egyptian cotton linen and hotel quality towels are provided. It is in the perfect setting for those who love outdoor pursuits including walking, cycling, golf, pony trekking and fishing - the Lake of Menteith is Scotland’s premier trout fishing venue. It is also a great location for those simply wanting to chill out and enjoy the fabulous view of the lake from the covered porch, courtyard or from the comfy couch.
Nick Nairn’s famous Cook School is only a few minutes drive away as is the popular Lake Hotel which serves good food at the lakeside. This is an ideal location from which to explore one of Scotland’s most picturesque areas or to use as a base to tour central Scotland. Within ten minutes from the cottage you can be in Aberfoyle, Callander, the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park at the David Marshall Lodge or taking a sail on the Sir Walter Scott steamship on Loch Katrine.
Stirling with its ancient castle is 20 minutes away. Scenic Loch Lomond, the single biggest expanse of inland water in the British Isles, with its charming villages and bays to explore is only half an hour from the cottage. Gleneagles is 40 minutes’ drive. The cosmopolitan city of Glasgow is less than an hour’s drive with Perth and Edinburgh just over an hour away. There are many historic buildings, castles and distilleries to visit in the area. The Trossachs is a wonderful area to visit and no trip to Scotland would be complete without spending some time in the area. Shop 4 miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
We had a lovely week in the cottage the owners are very helpful and friendly, the cottage was very comfortable and beautifully furnished. The view from the cottage is amazing and we were lucky enough to have good weather.

Excellent
My husband, myself and our dog spent a week here. The studio was lovely and everything we were looking for. Laura and Ronnie were excellent hosts. Ronnie's fresh scones are amazing. Our dog was made very welcome and spent hours playing with Bertie.
Lovely views with plenty to do nearby. Will definitely go back.

Another fantastic visit.
What can I say that hasn't already been said? Fantastic little self catering lodge. Everything you need there to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Was our 3rd visit and we are booked for a week in June which cant come quick enough.the lodge is spotlessly clean and very cozy. The view is stunning. But what really makes us want to go back again and again are the hosts Ronnie and Laura. Couldn't ask for more welcoming helpful people. Ronnie just thrives on making sure you enjoy your stay. An added bonus are the freshly baked scones. To die for. Would recommend to anyone be it for a week or just a few days.

Wonderful week at The Stable
From the moment we arrived at The Stable we couldn’t have felt more welcome. Ronnie met us with a tray of freshly baked scones (even one for the dog)! which were delicious. As were the scones Ronnie dropped in for us every day. The accommodation has everything you need, was lovely, warm and cosy and has a beautiful view in a peaceful location. We will definitely be back here. We have never stayed anywhere with such hospitable hosts, we really were treated like family! Lots of helpful walking booklets etc in the cottage which we used as well as plenty of recommendations from Ronnie. Thanks Ronnie and Laura for a perfect week.

PARADISE
Where to start! The Stable Cottage is beautiful. All appliances and furniture is of the highest specification and there’s nothing else you could possibly ask for in a holiday let. The view from the patio doors is sublime and literally takes your breath away every single time. Great location. Hidden away yet accessible for so many places to visit.
So, even with all that, what makes this place even more special is the hosts - Ronnie & Laura. Will leave you alone if that’s what you want but are on hand to help in any way. Ronnies freshly baked scones are not good for the waistline but they are so delicious you just can’t help yourself. He was great with our two dogs and even offered to look after them if we wanted to go for dinner. I’ve never met more helpful and friendly hosts. Although the Stable is a little piece of paradise, the hosts are what take this destination onto a whole new level. You absolutely won’t be disappointed!

A perfect getaway
Wow, what an amazing place! Laura and Ronnie are warm and wonderful hosts, who instantly make you feel welcome. The Stable is so cosy and comfortable, the perfect place to relax - the view and location are gorgeous. Everything inside is really high standard, including the most comfortable bed and best nights sleep I've had in ages! Can't praise this place enough, it was such a pleasure to stay there.

Return Visit
We loved the Old Barn last year and we came back and stayed at the Stable this time. Laura and Ronnie could not be better hosts so warm and friendly. Ronnie’s scones ... melt in the mouth. The welcome hamper including Prosecco a lovely thought. The Stable is compact, very well appointed, everything done to a high standard. The view from the veranda is spectacular overlooking the Lake of Menteith and a joy to sit and have breakfast every morning.
