We love this house and its history but we never forget that its here for you to have a great vacation so use it to the full and have a great time. The Strone is a 5 star graded, 4 bedroom holiday home which is situated in the village of Luss within the Loch Lomond national Park Scotland. Sleeping up to 12 guests your booking at The Strone comes complete with many quality features that you would not find with standard holiday lets. Our guests with children love the large secure private garden complete with play house and swings. A perfect example of new meets very old. This property began life as a crofter's cottage in 1850 and had an extension in original local stone built in the 1990s. Our extensive renovation of the property in 2013 included a full refit of all internal fittings and furniture. Glasgow City and airport are a 40 minute drive from the property and Edinburgh airport can be reached in around 1 hour by car. The village itself has local services for food and dining with larger shops available in Balloch which can be reached by water bus or taxi.More

Beautiful house
Just got back after an amazing 4 nights at The Strone. The host went above and beyond to make us all at home down to the little details. Beautiful house. Can't recommend enough. Lovely base for my Brother in Laws wedding

Fabulous holiday home
Absolutely gorgeous holiday home based in the centre of Luss. It was the perfect base for a well overdue gathering of friends. The Strone had everything we needed for a relaxing stay, facilities first class. The host Colette was fantastic and ensured that everything was perfect for our stay. We will definitely be back !

Another amazing stay
This is our second time our group has visited he strone. Yet again it did not disappoint. Very comfortable, beautifully decorated, every detail thought about. Great location. Colette is an excellent host. We look forward to returning next year.

Fantastic time with Friends in the most beautiful home
Had a long overdue catch up with friends at the lovely Strone. The cottage was warm and inviting, perfect base for a catch up! Can’t wait for our next visit 😊

Beautiful stay in a perfect location
The cottage is absolutely wonderful. A really high spec. Superb outdoor space and literally minutes from the many small 'beaches' on the Loch. The kids even found the secret tyre swing! A wonderful week.

Fabulous
Hi I booked this for a few days at Easter for my husband, daughter, grandson and myself. We spent 3nights and it was fabulous. The house is so clean, spacious and caters for everyone with everything. The weather wasn’t great but that didn’t stop us going out as in Luss village there’s a fairly trail which my grandson loved looking for the fairy doors. Back in the house having the beautiful log fire lite was so cosy at night especially after a rainy day. Thank you so so much Colette we will definitely be back.

Amazing place to stay!
Went here for a girls trip in February 2022. Couldn’t ask for a better place to spend the weekend. 12 of us stayed had the best time. House was amazing. Spotlessly clean. So comfortable. The attention to detail was amazing. Had everything and more you could need for time away. So much so we have rebooked for next year! Colette was amazing host. Answered all my questions on lead up to stay. Made sure we arrived safely and talked us through heating, working cookers and others. Can’t wait to go back. Don’t hesitate too book. Amazing house, amazing location and amazing host.

Stunning property - don’t hesitate to book!
12 of us were lucky enough to stay at the Strone, 6 adults and 6 young kids. What a treat it was. The whole house is luxuriously fitted out and we didn’t want for anything. The whole stay felt like such a treat, we stayed in December when the house was decorated for Christmas, it was stunning. The house works really well for big groups. Lots of space to relax and eat etc. plus plenty of space for kids to play including swings and a play house full of toys outside. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend or book again.

Amazing stunning place
We used the Strone as a base for our daughters wedding at the Lodge on the Loch. The Strone is beautiful!! Lovely large rooms so much space. Beautifully decorated and very clean. All the little touches that Collette did was fantastic. All The family and friends that travelled popped in to see us and they all were amazed at how beautiful the cottage was. We will definitely be back

Amazing place to Stay!
Just back from another wonderful stay at The Strone. This was our 5th visit now and each time is better than the last. Such a fantastic cottage, beautifully decorated and has everything that you could ever need! Surroundings are just gorgeous and the garden is a lovely place to relax and let the kids play. Collette is a supberb host and all the little extras just make it an extra special stay. Planning our next visit now! Can’t wait to go back.

About the neighborhood
Legend has it that the village takes its name from the French heraldic flower, the Fleur de Lys. According to the legend a local girl married a high ranking French officer in the 14th Century. She died in France and her body was returned to be buried by Loch Lomond. The Fleur de Lys strewn on her grave by her husband and are said to have taken root to flourish here ever since. During the Empire years Luss was a popular destination for high society wishing to escape the busy streets of the City. In recent years the village has seen a resurgence in its traditional tourist industry. Not that the Village has changed, it is still the simple crofters village on the banks of Loch Lomond that it always was but then that's what makes it so special for everyone who visits now.
