Springbank Cottage's elevated position just a two minute walk from the foreshore gives panoramic sea views towards the Ayrshire coast and across Rothesay Bay. The Isle of Bute has been named as one of National Geographic's top 10 global adventure trips. Bute is unique in that it feels wild and remote, yet is easily accessible. There is walking, cycling, golf, horse riding, fishing, kayaking, wildlife, historical sites and standing stones, beautiful unspoiled beaches, trips on the Waverley paddle steamer in the summer months, pub music sessions, a castle and the exceptional stately home, Mount Stuart. The downstairs accommodation comprises: living room, dining room, dining kitchen double bedroom and family bathroom with over bath shower. Upstairs comprises: large single bedroom with extra pull-out bed, small single bedroom and WC with wash basin. Cars can be parked on Ardbeg Road, where there is ample unrestricted parking. The house is situated up a private track and cars may be driven to the gate of Springbank Cottage for unloading/loading. NB: Access to the house is via a sloping path with approximately twenty long shallow steps, followed by a further seven stone steps to the front door (please see photographs). Unfortunately, the cottage would not be suitable for those with limited mobility or fitness. Also, if you have children, please be aware that the pond is unfenced.More

Getting around
A car is not essential but offers most flexibility and facilitate sightseeing. Buses run regularly from one end of the island to the other on the east side of the island. In summer the tourist bus drives around the island every hour and it is possible to get off and on. Cycling is a good way to get about as there are no extremely steep hills and the island is a very manageable size. Bicycle hire is available in the town. There are also plenty of taxis.
How to get there
The cottage is easily reached by car or train from Glasgow to Wemyss Bay ferry port (approximately 50 minutes) The ferry journey Wemyss Bay to Rothesay is approximately 35 minutes. On arrival in Rothesay the cottage is a five minute drive or 20 minute walk. There is also the option of busses from outside the ferry terminal.
