Lochead Cottage is a 3 bedroom cottage situated at the head of the loch. Downstairs there is a spacious double bedroom, a sitting room and a large dining kitchen. The is also a shower room, and porch area. Upstairs there are two twin rooms and a full bathroom. It has a large garden which is fenced in; ideal for dogs. There is a patio with barbecue and outdoor seating to enjoy the views from. Ellary Estate lies between Lochs Sween & Caolisport. This is the scenery which has made the West Coast of Scotland famous. The shore consists of rocky outcrops with inlets and sandy beaches, islands and islets and just cries out to be explored. The structure of the rock forms a series of large or small glens and corries which lie in the same direction making walking the hills a shear delight. ...Lochead Cottage is a 3 bedroom cottage situated at the head of the loch. Many comment that the same fascination can be experienced on a short walk, not far from the accommodation where they are staying, as from a long expedition into the hills; although it is recommend, for anyone staying more than a few days, to head out to Corrbhan Mor which is the highest point of Ellary and Castle Sween estates to see the most beautiful countryside. The area is one of outstanding unspoilt natural beauty and Ellary provides the perfect location for a quiet get away from it all peaceful holiday. The choice is yours whether you want a quiet unwind or to sample the wealth of outdoor pursuits on the door step to suitable abilities; the Estate has slipway and harbour facilities for small/medium boats and the sailing is excellent. Exploring the west coast is also possible with Oban about an hour or so by car to the north. Post Code: PA31 8PA All of our cottages are let Saturday to Saturday, with short breaks welcome outwith Peak and High season or at short notice - please contact us with your requirements. Dogs and children are always welcome - the first dog stays free of charge, and it is £10 per week for the second (maximum of 2 unless by prior arrangement). There are also various other cottages available on the estate - search Ellary. Electricity is not included in the price - it is metered and charged at the end of your stay, at cost price. Bed linen is not included, so you will need to bring sheets and towels (duvets, pillows and blankets are provided). Wifi access is free and unlimited at Lochead Cottage - it is slow though due to our remote location. Cots and highchairs are available free of charge, subject to availability.More

Lochead Cottage is a wonderful and cosy place to be. It was our fifth stay at Ellary and it is always worth to go there all the way from Germany! :-)

About the neighborhood
The distance from Glasgow to Ellary is about 100 miles and it will take around two and a half hours. Although the journey can be accomplished faster than this, it is a beautiful drive and well worth the time. Take the M8 through Glasgow and cross the Clyde on the Erskine Bridge. This takes you straight on to the A82 wich at that point is a fast dual carriageway which takes you past the suburbs of Glasgow. Immediately when you leave the dual carriageway you are suddenly in the Highlands. What were the promise of some mountains in the distance, are suddenly all around you. Look across the water at the steep steep sides of Ben Lomond, and soak up the views of Ben Lui, Ben Vorlich and many others. You are in the heart of 'Ben' country.
Getting around
There is no public transport here, so a car is necessary. We are not far from Tarbert (about 30 minutes), and the ferries to the islands. Similarly, Inverary is about 50 minutes away, and Oban just over an hour.
