Stayed there with friends for a "chill out" birthday weekend. Cottage is clean, comfy and well equipped. Views are stunning and the fenced in surrounding land is brilliant for the dogs. Rooms all good sizes including the really cosy lounge with fabulous wood burner. We had a power cut one night (area problem, not the cottage) but this just added...

Had a very enjoyable time exploring the non-tourist parts of the island - despite the weather!! Our collie enjoyed trying to round up rabbits - totally unsuccessfully!!!, but it was her holiday as well. Thank-you Hazel for your kind and welcoming gift of wine, chocs and doggie treat. Clean, comfortable and well equipped cottage. Lovely location, with glorious views. We very much enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to return.

Particularly between November and February, we are happy to offer flexible start and end days/dates, flexible duration of stay, and more flexibility on arrival and departure times - please let us know your requirements and we will try to accommodate you.

Ullinish is a coastal crofting hamlet spread along about 2 miles of quiet single track road. We have amazing night skies as there are no street lights and houses are dispersed. All within easy reach of Ullinish: Macleod's Tables, Macleod's Maidens (sea stacks), Dunvegan Castle, Coral Beach, Waternish, Neist Point, Talisker Distillery, The Fairy Pools, Uig (ferries), The Fairy Glen, The Storr and The Quirang (Trotternish Ridge).Portree is only 11 miles away and as the main town in Skye has full facilities, including:Fingal Centre which offers a library, fitness suite, swimming pool, small climbing wall and fitness classes.Aros Centre - arts/cultural activities including theatre, music and movies.There are many small arts and crafts galleries all around the Island and plenty of cafe... more
Getting around
There are lots of walking and cycling options direct from the door of the cottage, if you are just interested in chilling and not going too far.

If you want to get further afield around the Island, this is definitely easier by car. If you would rather not do too much driving yourself, there are quite a few local tour guides who provide a friendly personal touring service, some specialising in wildlife spotting and/or photography. We can offer some suggestions if you want to set this up before you arrive.

There is a bus service to Portree which runs past Wild Orchid Cottage twice per day on school days.

Isle of Skye is linked to the mainland by toll-free bridge at Kyle of Lochalsh. Alternatively you can travel by ferry from Mallaig to Armadale.

Detailed directions on how to travel to Wild Orchid Cottage will be provided on booking. If you are using SatNav, make sure you choose the route via Kyle of Lochalsh unless you have a ferry booked from Mallaig on mainland to Armadale on Skye.
