Kerr Cottage was a special place indeed. Beautiful views from every window, a stunning garden. Lock and Mountain views are breathtaking. Cottage is lovely and very well equipped. Owner is very helpful, as we’re the neighbours we met. You won’t be disappointed.

Superb location, lovely traditional cottage and garden with stunning views all round.
We woke up on the first morning to the most beautiful sunrise looking over the water to the Isle of Raasay - holiday almost complete on day one! The cottage is cosy and comfortable and very well equipped. There are also plenty of walking opportunities in the immediate vicinity.
The views from the cottage are simply breath-taking. We were also blessed with typical Scottish weather part way through the week that transformed the island into a stunning landscape of waterfalls and swollen rivers, water was spouting out from everywhere! Yes, there are midges, but plenty of other wildlife. Without going on any paid guided tours, we saw golden eagles, white-tailed eagles, ravens, otters, roe deer, seals, dolphins all within an hour's drive. And there are newts and frogs in the garden pond.
The owner Stuart is a very nice man and lives nearby so any issues will be quickly resolved.
One tip: Ignore the SatNav and take the low road off the B883 (approx 1 mile from the cottage) signposted Gentailor, Balmeanach etc. We stayed on the B883 at this point on arrival and it was not the best road for a fully laden car!

Amazing week on Skye
Can’t fault this property. Kerr cottage was perfect. Lovely garden which was safe for the kids and dogs with amazing views of the sea and the Red Cuillin. Got to see seals in the Loch Sligachan, just a short walk from the property. Kerr cottage is in a great location, a short 10-15 minute drive to Portree and Sligachan for the Black Cuillin ( which is what attracted me to Skye in the first place), it’s around an hours drive from a lot of the attractions, Storr is only 30 mins away and the fairy Glen a little further but I’d say the cottage location was perfect. We had a great week for our first time on Skye, the scenery was some of the most amazing and beautiful I’ve ever seen and weather was fantastic. We’ll definitely be back next year

Well setup modest cottage with excellent kitchen.
Tv room with coal burner but it was a bit smoky.
Gardens and view spectacular
Now 8 miles is a good deive on mostly single track so realise u are not t
Right on portree.
I have written to the owner re the allergies/asthma my wife had in both the bedrooms. This was the only tome in 4 weeks around scotland and france she had trouble. Possibly the dogs or possible dated carpets, mattress.
Stuart is a kind man but we were tempted to leave 1/2 way as she was so ill at night and could not sleep. Maybe i should have told him but all was prepaid.
Also it is my fault for booking a dog friendly house as we are new to cottage renting .
Otherwise its a good location, enjpy

Lovely little home away from home
This cottage is a well furnished home and the owner stays close by so in case there is a question he is easily reached. (We had a question about the washing machine and he popped right over and showed us how to use it). It is a wonderful machine, by the way and better yet, there is a separate dryer! Other Americans traveling in the UK will appreciate what that means! The house has two bedrooms, one large bath and a fully appointed kitchen. Large TV in the living room. My only complaint would be with the mattresses in the room with double beds. They might be okay for children but my husband and I, being senior citizens, found them a bit uncomfortable.
The cottage is in a lovely rural area and we took some nice walks around the countryside. There are friendly sheep who will greet you at the gate. It is fairly close to Portree but you must have a car to get there.
The owner, Stuart, was very friendly and helpful and even left us a carton of milk to get us started. Loved this cottage and I highly recommend it.

Kerr Cottage could not have been a more comfortable and attractive place to stay for a week!
Kerr Cottage is possibly the best self-catering location we've ever booked on our multiple trips to Scotland. First of all, Stuart, the owner, is very friendly and helpful. We especially appreciated his tips on walks which could be enjoyed right out the front door. Kerr Cottage is absolutely delightful. It feels like "home" the minute you walk in the front door. Everything worked perfectly, and everything we needed was available. I enjoyed the interesting artwork displayed throughout the cottage....even the pull down shade in the bathroom had a lovely painting on it! The garden out front is quite lovely. We never tired of the ever changing views out the windows.....of both the garden and the water and hills beyond. We found the location to be perfect for us....remote and quiet yet an easy (and beautiful) drive to both Sligachan and Portree for good meals and/or shopping.

Fantastic get away from it all place that you and your dog can chill to your hearts content.
Communication from owner prompt, courteous and detailed from start to finish. Cottage was comfortable, well equipped clean, roomy and a great place for our 3 dogs with a large utility room and and enclosed decent sized garden.
Fantastic views from every window. Cottage ideally placed to see the island.
Owner on hand for any queries.
Would definitely recommend to others.

Lovely Cottage
The cottage was lovely and the area is very peaceful
Our dog Max loved the large garden which was perfect as it was enclosed
There is everything you need in the cottage which was bigger than it looked on the photos.
It is a short journey away from Portree and easy to find with the sat nav
Many Thanks for a lovely stay

Heart of Skye
Located 15 minutes south of Portree along a wonderfully rural single track into the historic Breas ... so a GREAT place to explore all of Skye from and a better place to return to after a day of hiking or exploring ...The cottage itself is so much more than the pictures, which were wonderful to start with ... No matter where you looked, gardens, towards the water, the mountains .... picture postcard perfect. And the owner - Stuart - just a great helpful guy ... The cottage was larger than the pictures indicated and so wonderfully comfortable ... You can hear the breezes, you can see so many more stars, and Stuart's garden - are all so wonderful ... The kitchen is well equipped, and the WiFi was more than just adequate (online instructor running a course from the cottage <smile>). Great for one or two couples, or a small family ... Portree has all the amenities, but Kerr cottage (and Stuart) share with you the heart of Skye ...

How to get there
Arriving from the South via Mallaig or Skye bridge on the A87.
Approximately 6.5 miles after the Sligachan Hotel you come to a very sharp left hand bend and bridge. On the bend and about 20 yards before the bridge is a right hand turn that is sign posted to Braes. Travel half a mile on this single track road to the T junction and turn right. You are now on the B883.
Follow this road for a further 5 miles (ignoring the left hand turn to Camas Tianavaig) until you get to the next left hand turn signposted Gedintailor, Balmeanach and Peinachorrain. Turn left and follow the road for a further mile till you see the Peinachorrain sign. No 10 Peinachorran is the seventh house, about 300 yards on the left. Parking is on the drive beside the house
