Pabbay House is located in the crofting village of Back which is approximately 6 miles from Stornoway, the main town on the Island. It is a very central location and convenient for making day trips to all parts of Lewis and Harris.
The house itself is on a main bus route. We offer our guests the opportunity to be collected and returned either to the airport at Stornoway or to and from the Stornoway ferry terminal.
The house has 1 double room and 2 twin rooms and can accommodate up to 6 people. The double room is the only ground floor bedroom.
There is 1 spacious bathroom located on the ground floor also. There is a fully equipped kitchen with electric oven and hob, washing machine, tumble dryer, microwave, iron and ironing board, and a range of cutlery and crockery.

Linen and towels are provided for your stay and if you require a change during your stay then we are more than happy to provide a change for you.
Pets are more than welcome in the house as long as they are kept down stairs on the wooden floors and kept out of the bedrooms.
Children are also very welcome to stay in the house and if you require a cot for the younger members of the family then we will happily provide this.
There is free WIFI.
On a clear day there are outstanding views from the house across the minch to the mainland of Scotland. The mountains of Assynt and Sutherland can be clearly seen. One of the advantages of the Island of Lewis being situated in the North of Scotland is that between October and April the Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis can be seen on a regular basis.
Alternatively again due to the latitude the Island of Lewis experiences very little darkness during the summer months. In fact around the turn of midsummer there is no darkness at all, there is a transition from daylight to dusk and back again to daylight in a very short period of time. To fully appreciate this one really has to experience it for themselves.
The house is ideally situated for all the outdoor activities the Outer Hebrides has to offer. This includes fresh water and salt water fishing, bird watching, hill walking, cycling, or simply enjoying the stunning scenery walking along one of the many beaches in close proximity to the house.

The bed was so comfortable, best sleep I've had in months!
Boyd & Barbara Left lovely treats for us on arrival, the shortbread and cake were delicious.
The house is located close to Stornaway but far enough away to feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. So peaceful!
Cant recommend staying here enough!

Home away from home!
We had an amazing stay at Pabbay House during our Hebrides trip in august. The house was immaculate on arrival and our host showed us around the house as well as always being on call to answer any questions quickly via text. The welcome pack was the most generous I have ever seen. Little touches like Hebridean soaps and hot chocolate packs made us feel very welcome. We truly had the most comfortable stay and were made to feel right at home. We will be back!! Cannot recommend this cosy home enough!

Love Lewis. Love this house.
The house was in a fabulous location. The owners, Boyd and Barbara were so welcoming and helpful. All our needs had been thought of and we really appreciated the food and drink provided , some of which home made. 🥰
The garden and grounds are amazing. The private woods walk was a real hit with our young Labrador.
The guest information book is the best we have ever come across. Thoroughly recommend this property.

Just perfect.
What a fantastic week we have just had at Pabbay House. This house has everything you need to spend a comfortable week away.
Our dogs loved the garden, the woodland walk and the wonderful beaches nearby.
Sitting, relaxing with the peat burner glowing was just bliss.
The house is spotless and a perfect home from home.
Great hosts and a great house. I thoroughly recommend Pabbay House and can’t wait to return.

Fab stay at Pabbay House
Lovely hosts and cozy, comfortable well equipped property with amazing welcome pack. Our dog loved the substantial garden and adjoining woodland walk.

Stunning house, perfect location
What a fabulous stay at Pabbay House. The location is perfect for touring all round Lewis and Harris. We did a trip each day and looked forward to coming back to enjoy the house, the garden and the nearby beaches which the pup and I had to ourselves most nights. The private wood makes for a brilliant dog walk.
We were made to feel so welcome on arrival and the goodies left for us were so thoughtful. The house is equipped with everything you can think of.
Would absolutely recommend and hope to return one day.

Absolutely perfect
Can’t recommend this highly enough. Everything was just perfect. House was spotless, everything you need and more is provided. Home baking on arrival is an absolute treat. Lovely walk through the woodland walk and over to the beach. Walked on this beach for 45 mins without seeing another person. Really peaceful and beautiful. We cycled to Tolsta beach which is about 8 miles away on a lovely quiet road. Again the beach is amazing. Visited Callanish stones, Isle of Harris distillery, Luskentyre beach. Found an amazing little restaurant in Stornaway called Fank. Well worth a visit. All in all a delightful property which I would definitely recommend.

The warmest welcome ever...
I cannot recommend Pabbay House enough. The welcome we received, the attention to detail, the cleanliness and the personal touches like home made cake, and a fridge of delicacies made this a fantastic experience. A brilliant experience and I would definitely come back.

Perfect Coastal Cottage
Amazing location a short walk through the croft to the beach. The cottage was spotlessly clean, the welcome and support whilst there from Barbara and Boyd was brilliant. On the Island we saw Golden Eagles, an Otter and even Red Deer in the garden. We will be back.
