If you have already done your research and decided on your itinerary we are available to provide local knowledge at any time but we do realise that many people just want to be left alone to find their own way around.
We spent a lovely 5 nights at Callum and Jans house in the village of Back. Our hosts could not have been more accommodating and kind.
The house has a really nice feel and works really well for larger groups with the house laid out in a way that allowed younger ones to nap through the day while we could all relax in the house. The house is very well equipped: barbeque, coffee machine, nice showers, good kitchen, loads of hot water, smart tvs with DVDs. The list goes on. Ample parking.
The house has a really nice wee walk down to the beach and there are great spots to surf just a stone's throw away. It is far enough from Stornoway that you feel away from it all but with all the nice things to do nearby.
Highly recommended.
Thanks

Homely lovely Back holiday home
We had a lovely few days staying in the Old Croft House in Back on the Isle of Lewis. Warm welcome from our hosts Jan and Callum on arrival and we really appreciated the thoughtful touches they provided for our comfort during our stay. It felt like home from home with every need provided for. Highly recommended.

Kavita and her family were not very lucky with the weather when they were here, however, it did not seem to keep them from seeing a lot of the sites and I believe they found a few beaches nearby for the children to play on.
Theye seemed to share our love of the environment by drying clothes outside when weather permitted and switching off the heating when it wasn't required. We look forward to welcoming them and their lovely children back some other time.

A holiday in Scottish island paradise
Cannot rate this place enough. What a beautiful place to visit! Absolutely stunning! And the ideal holiday home to stay in during your trip! Just can't fault it - such a warm & welcoming couple - Jan and Calum- who made sure we had everything we needed to get settled in. A perfectly well equipped home - we didn't want for anything the entire duration of our stay! A short walk to the beach, and many more nearby to explore. A beautiful sea view from the upstairs living quarter. Very comfy beds and bedding. A downstairs living area, well-equipped kitchen diner, lovely big bathroom with bath & shower downstairs, a double room and a twin room. Upstairs; another very cosy living area, bathroom, double bedroom and single (/kids) room both with wash basins which was great. TVs, skybox of some kind or other, even a DVD player with DVD's, some kids ones. A well-equipped utility room in an outhouse adjoining the house. An IKEA high chair on request, an extra toddler bed and a downstairs stair gate - so a really great place to stay if you have small children as we did! Jan and Calum were so happy to help us with local knowledge and advice and ideas of places to visit, places to eat etc, and there are lots of books, brochures and reading to that effect available in the house. There were 6 of us but you could comfortably fit 7 plus a young child!
If you're looking for somewhere to stay during a trip to Lewis & Harris, you really can't go wrong booking in here!

Spacious and comfortable holiday home on this lovely island
Ideal accommodation for two families, 6 adults, a 3 year old and a baby. Our grandson loved the garden, and the view from the upstairs lounge is spectacular. We loved the island, so many interesting places to visit, Callanish Stones, Blackhouse Village, Lews Castle in Stornoway, stunning beaches and also managed a trip to Harris Distillery. Thanks to Callum and Jan for making our holiday so enjoyable.

Perfect for peace and quiet
I just had to return to The Old Croft House again as my previous visit had been so enjoyable and I was not disappointed. My partner had never been to the islands before and she was astounded to find such beautiful scenery and beaches so close to home. We were blessed with good weather and once again Callum and Jan were the perfect hosts. This is the ideal place to recharge your batteries and we will certainly be back.

Excellent hosts, Great accommodation
We loved our stay in Jan & Callums house. They were great hosts and nothing was too much to ask. The house was spotless and has all the essentials (including a Stornoway Black Pudding). From initial booking to departure the process was smooth and uncomplicated. The house is in a great location with easy access to superb sandy beaches (helped by the excellent weather we had) and to the rest of the Island. The younger members of the party particularily enjoyed " the Love Island Lounge " upstairs We look forward to a return visit as long as the weather is guaranteed. The large open space was especially appreciated by our 3 year old grandson.

A comfortable base
The house easily accommodated two families with a family on each floor and coming together to eat, drink and be merry in the kitchen/sitting area.
A very relaxed and easy stay made more comfortable by the owners who only live across the road. Always helpful for travel tips and destinations around the island.
A great base for a great holiday. We will definitely be going again.

Lovely, comfortable child and adult friendly home!
Just returned from a fantastic week in the Old Croft House. Our party included myself, my son, daughter and partners, and six children ages from 8 to 1.We were in Lewis for a family wedding and a little holiday. The house is immaculately clean and comfortable. The kitchen is equipped with absolutely everything you could possibly need, and more. The beds are hugely comfortable with high quality bedding and towels also provided. The well equipped utility room is perfect to keep on top of laundry. The garden provides children with lots of nooks and crannies to explore, and Callum probably regrets showing our children the rasberry and gooseberry bushes which are now much barer of fruit! On our evening walks our city children were enthralled by sunsets, meeting Megan the friendly horse, a garden full of rescued pugs, and the little white dog who followed them home!. The house is ideal for exploring the island, and close to the to the town for shopping. We had lovely days on the nearby beaches, visiting the newly renovated Castle, and the new Museum, and the lovely Castle Grounds.. Jan and Callum were so welcoming and kind, and we very much enjoyed meeting them. They even brought us golf umbrellas to protect us in case of rain rain on the wedding day. I would totally recommend this lovely house to anyone wanting to visit Lewis and Harris.
