Roag's End Cottage is situated in the village of Carloway on the beautiful west coast of the Isle of Lewis. The stone cottage has been extensively refurbished to produce an exciting mix of contemporary open plan design with traditional features. It now provides light, spacious and tranquil accommodation and is a perfect base from which to explore the area's rich wildlife, outdoor activities and cultural heritage. Golden eagles and sea eagles have been seen from the cottage and otters and orcas spotted from the local harbour. Corncrakes visit the area in the summer. The Callanish Standing Stones, Dun Carloway's Iron Age Broch, Garenehine Blackhouse village, Shawbost Norse mill and kiln and the RSPB reserve Loch na Muilne are within an easy drive from the cottage. There are numerous beautiful coastal walks or you can just relax on golden sandy beaches under big skies.More

Lovely minimalist cottage. Our stay was good. Co-owner stopped by to chat, which we found welcoming and informative. Sound is amplified in this place. Note this if you are traveling with light sleepers. Also, the skylights make the interior bright during long summer days/nights. The...More
