Borrowdale near Carloway. Near to Blackhouse village which also has a great coastal walk. About 2 km from a Brock. The callanish stones are about 10km and are a must for any visitors to the island. Lovely views, peaceful location, welcoming owner. Ideal place for our two dogs. Close to some of the main tourist sights. Would recommend it to friends.

There is one comfortable double bedroom upstairs and a twin room downstairs. You may not need the central heating on in summer time but if you like it hot, then the traditional solid fuel stove in the kitchen will heat the radiators and do the trick . We will provide you with plenty of wood, coal or peat to keep you going.The dining room and living room boast south facing views over Loch Carloway. You may wish to try your hand at cooking on top of the traditional range but if not, don't worry as the modern kitchen is well equipped with an electric oven and gas hob.<BR>

About the neighborhood
Lewis is the most populated island in the Outer Hebrides with the main town of Stornoway on its eastern shores. Stornoway has fantastic facilities including shops, restaurants, pubs, a sports centre with swimming pool, golf club and a modern theatre/arts centre.

The west coast of Lewis is bathed in the North Atlantic swell and as a result, has the most consistent surf in Europe.

Lewis is etched with sea lochs, islands and inlets making it a paradise for sea kayakers.

It is quick and easy to obtain a permit from the Carloway Angling Club to try your hand at salmon fishing. Or if you prefer there are lochs teaming with brown trout.

Caledonian MacBrayne (www.calmac.co.uk) operates a regular car ferry service between Ullapool and Stornoway, or alternatively they operate a shorter ferry crossing between Uig (Isle of Skye) and Tarbert (Harris).Ferry fares have decreased in recent years making them suprisingly affordable.
Travelling to Carloway by road:
Carloway is about 36km from Stornoway, and about 54km from Tarbert. Follow signs for Càrlabhagh (Carloway) on the A858. Remember to look out for the Gaelic name on road signs.
Flying to Lewis:
