Beach House Walk is a great location for your cycling holidays, situated close to some fantastic bike trails. There's no need to bring your bikes as there is a selection of bikes provided for your use at the property, together with helmets - all of which is included in the cost of your stay! We particularly recommend the Crail to Kingsbarns cycle path, with a starting point just minutes from the house and offering safe, quiet country roads for all the family to enjoy the peaceful, tranquil area of the East Neuk of Fife.
For Golfing Holidays:
There are 30 golf courses to choose from within 15 miles of Crail. There are 4 links golf courses all within a 15 minute drive. Balcomie Links and Craighead Links are virtually on the Beach House doorstep, and combine spectacular coastal views and extraordinary holes to provide challenging and enjoyable golf. Kingsbarn Golf Links is just 3 miles distant, and also enjoys the stunning North Sea coastline where each hole embraces the sea. The home of Golf at St Andrews is only 10 miles away: the largest, most iconic public golf complex in Europe, with seven golf courses to choose from: the Old Course, New Course, Jubilee Course, Eden Course, Strathtyrum Course, and the Balgove Course.
For Beach Holidays:
The sheltered and secluded area of Crail is said to be the one of the driest parts in Scotland, and therefore makes it an excellent choice for an ideal beach holiday. You are spoilt for choice with 17 excellent blue flag beaches to choose from in Fife. Roome Bay Beach is a mere 2 minute walk away, with many rock pools to explore and a children's play area. The coastline is part of the internationally recognised Firth of Forth Ramsar site, dedicated to conservation and protection of wetland habitats and the species which live and feed in these areas. Therefore, Crail and the surrounding coastline is a great area for bird watching at any time of the year. Elie Beach is 5 miles from Crail, and is one of Scotland's blue flag beaches, offering a wonderful walk of almost one mile of uninterrupted sand.
There is an excellent sailing club, and a water sports facility where you can hire equipment or head out on an inflatable adventure trip. Kingsbarns Beach is just 2 miles away. This charming blue flag beach stretches for about 2 miles and is bordered by rolling sand dunes. It's a very popular beach for walkers and the Fife Coastal Footpath passes above it. There is plenty of space on the beach for all the family and it is an ideal spot for a picnic. Kingbarns Golf Links, undeniably one of the finest courses in Scotland, runs alongside the beach.
Wildlife & Nature Spotting Holidays:
Animal & nature lovers will enjoy visiting the Isle of May where there are puffins, crags, seals and an abundance of wildlife. Fifeness Muir Wildlife reserve just outside Crail is where visitors can enjoy the fascinating spectacle of bird migration.
During the spring and autumn periods of migration, numerous small paths allow visitors to move quietly round the reserve - or better still, strategically placed seats allow observers to watch birds undisturbed. Approaching 150 species of birds have been seen from the reserve, including 17 species of warbler. During spring and autumn, recording is carried out on a daily basis, and the reserve is now a ringing station, with permanent traps similar to those on the Isle of May.
Birds have been recorded travelling to and from 14 different European countries from this part of the East Neuk. A log is maintained in the hut on the reserve, and the latest migratory news is posted on a display board. Visitors are welcome at all times, and the ringing station is run in a way that permits bird watchers to consistently enjoy the freedom of the reserve. Flowering shrubs have been planted, and the reserve is an excellent place for looking at the migrant butterflies it also attracts.
There is a good breeding population of birds, but during the breeding season many of the small paths are allowed to grow over to reduce disturbance.

'I have holidayed in the East Neuk of Fife for over 40 years. My ancestors are from Kingsbarns. I have very many happy memories of my holidays here, and being a mum with 3 boys, I have had lots of fun holidaying with them, showing them all the wonderful sights and places that Fife has to offer. I have also worked with Fife Council, and with the many businesses and companies in the area.
I purchased Beach House Walk in 2015, and dedicated a lot of time and love to the project to have it completely refurbished to a modern and comfortable standard; not just for my own family, but for other guests to enjoy.'

Home away from home
It was a absolute pleasure staying at Beach House Walk ! The moment you step into the home you feel like youbhave arrived at your home away from home. The home has anything you need to have a relaxing comfortable stay. The kitchen is well equipped, the house feels cozy and stylish. It is immaculate clean and very inviting. For us the garden house on the back of the property has been an absolute surprise. It is a great spot for breakfast or a wee glass of wine in the evening 😀 or even just to sit and read a book.
We can't recommend this lovely home enough to anyone who is looking to explore the area around Crail !!
Thank you Kirsty for creating such a welcoming, well-equipped and comfortable home 🏡

Quiet, beautiful family retreat!
We were looking for a relaxing beautiful place to have a family vacation in Scotland - and we found it here! We loved being able to walk the coastal paths and downtown Crail, visit close by areas like St. Andrews and the Isle of May. This was the perfect quiet retreat for our family. The children loved the playground by the beach, riding bikes, and exploring the tide pools. We highly recommend this home for those wishing to experience the beach, small town and the beauty of Scotland.

You feel at home right from the start! The whole interior is so lovingly furnished, with lots of thoughtful details. (And the garden is beautiful, too!)
The seaview, the tranquility, just perfect!
An excellent place to stay for exploring nearby or further afield, or just to relax.

Wonderful holiday in Crail
The property is very clean, comfortable, relaxing and well equipped with lots of beach themed trinkets and personal touches making it feel very homely. There were some wonderful welcome goodies awaiting us on arrival and we very much enjoyed spending time in the summer house and enclosed garden in the sunshine. We loved the scenery and enjoyed the Fife coastal paths, linking the little fishing villages and harbours and when we weren’t walking we took the bus which stopped right outside the house! Crail is a beautiful village, well worth a visit and a trip to nearby St Andrews is a must. I would highly recommend exploring the East Neuk of Fife and to stay at Beach House Walk, which is a truly wonderful home and is very accessible to the village and beach. We were sad to leave but hope to return in the near future.

Exceptional Accommodation
I booked this property for my parents who are both in their eighties. They loved it! The property was accessible and comfortable. While they did not make use of the bikes, they did enjoy sitting in the stunning summerhouse in the mornings. Kirsty was helpful and friendly going the extra mile to ensure her guests enjoyed their stay. I would highly recommend.

A terrific cottage to explore St Andrews
This charming cottage is beautifully decorated; substantially fitted out and exceptionally clean. The hosts are empathetic and responsive. Comfortable beds, dish and clothes washers; wonderful shower; spacious back garden and a cute summer cottage to sit and read on. The kitchen has so much included you can cook all your meals at home. It also has bikes and Off street parking. A shortish walk to the village shops and views across pretty fields out the back. Also good smart television; sophisticated heating and a great wifi
The coastal decoration throughout is very tasteful and adds to the atmosphere. Full of useful books as well
We will be back

Second stay at Beach House Walk
My wife and I returned to this lovely property again for 3nights. The house is well equipped with everything to make you feel at home. It is so central for touring around this area of Fife whether on foot or public transport which runs right past the house. Kirsty is very attentive and informative and nothing is to much bother, I'm sure we will return in the future.

Crail and St Andrews
Historically the East Neuk of Fife was commonly referred to by pilgrims on their way to Saint Andrews as 'Fife's Golden Fringe', and indeed the East Neuk coastline is strikingly beautiful and breathtaking.
Saint Andrews is also lauded as the home of golf, and is home to Scotland's oldest university.
Saint Andrews and the surrounding East Neuk coastline boast some of the UK's cleanest, most extensive and most beautiful beaches. Crail forms part of the East Neuk coastline, a georgous stretch of coastline dotted with idyllic, peaceful fishing villages steeped in history and charm.
Getting around
The No. 95 Stagecoach bus service was, in 2018, nominated 'Most Scenic Bus Route' in the UK. The bus provides a regular service between the fishing villages along the East Neuk coastline, with frequent stops at Saint Andrews bus station. The East Neuk roads echo the area's past; they are narrow, but reflective of the sleepy nature of the area, and as such are quiet and not prone to high levels of traffic. They can be navigated with ease by car but are also ideal for seasoned, and less well seasoned, cyclists.
