Home from home
We spent a week at the Courtyard Apartment as we were visiting family in the area. David greeted us when we arrived and kindly took the time to show us around the apartment. The apartment itself is clean, spacious, homely and very well-equipped. David was always on hand to answer any questions and recommend things to visit. There is plenty of information in the apartment regarding local places of interest and other tourist sites in Northern Ireland. We frequented The Goose cafe in the courtyard, which is open for breakfast and lunch as well as for coffee and scones in between. There are a wide variety of cafes and restaurants within a stone's throw of the property as well as other local shops and amenities all within walking distance. All in all we had a great week and will be back, hopefully in the not too distant future!

Exceptionally clean and very functional.
We (5 adults) stayed 3 nights at the Courtyard during May 2022. We found it exceptionally clean and very functional. Location was perfect - within walking distance of all Comber restaurants and bars. The owner was most helpful. We found the two singles could be pushed together to form an acceptable couple double bed as well. We also used the sofa bed - also comfortable. We'd definitely reconsider again.

Excellent Location but…
The Courtyard Apartment at Comber provides an excellent centre for touring and access to Belfast.
However, and there is a however, the apartment is wanting in a number of areas. Firstly is lack of any parking, yes you can park outside with wheels on the pavement, but car is in a traffic light queue.
The apartment is as advertised a Victorian update, but we found it tired and in need of updating, with the kitchen needing this mostly. For instance the dishwasher is probably the smallest experienced.
Bedding although spotlessly clean needs replacing especially the duvet which is so small.
Gas and electricity is in credit when you arrive but you are expected to provide more credit yourself, a situation not experienced in other such properties.
With all of this we found the owner David helpful and charming, but seemingly unaware as to how his property is viewed by us transitory occupants.
Town is good with supermarket and other essential shops especially the Deli, and two petrol filling stations.

Hello John.
Thank you for your review.
We are located in Comber town centre and as such are lucky that we have free on street parking right outside. In similar circumstances I've had to pay for parking some distance from the accommodation,
I find it difficult to understand your problem with our dishwasher, which is almost brand new. It is an undercounter small dishwasher and many of our guests particularly like its fast 20 minute cycle 5. It fits 4 settings with no problem which surely is what is needed?
The duvets are standard duvets and I'm sorry that you feel they're too small. I've never had any observation on them before.
Gas and electric are an issue with the huge increases in prices worldwide. As a result I increased our already generous credits in February but it isn't unusual for holiday lets to fully charge for these. We've held our tariff down and to provide completely free power we'd have to increase this which we are reluctant to do.
I hope that you you can see our position on these matters and understand that we try to provide excellent value and surroundings.
Kind regards, David

dirty and tired apartment in need of facelift
tired and in need of good clean, under beds ,under tvs in bedrooms and behind headboards where thick with dust, mould in the ensuite, cobwebs and dust.the kitchen was grimey.bad smell of damp in the hall.
found the instant hot water a bit dangerous as the water is boiling and i got scalded on it.
also found it very strange that the owner just let himself in one day i have never experienced that.

Oh dear. We are appalled at unacceptable comments such as these. I think that it's best that I suggest that folk look at our general responses which appreciate the level of cleanliness that we offer.
I respond to your complaints: beyond the normal cleansing routines we have we continue to have special methods of disinfection that were introduced in response to fighting the Covid epidemic.
Areas thick with dust just isn't true as is the smell of damp in the entrance Hall!
We ask guests to ventilate our 2 bathrooms especially after use to help us minimise mildew which we work hard to contain at an absolute minimum because elderly bulidings are suseptible to this especially from steam and condensation when the rooms aren't ventilated by leaving a door and window open for a short while after use.
We recently renovated not only The Apartment but the whole building at very considerable expense, hence our description is a sympathetically renovated and restored early Victorian premise. We aren't and don't pretend to be an ultra modern offering. If this is what you want, please don't stay with us!
Our very efficient gas heating system ( which many of our guests - especially our regulars - really enjoy particularly with our power showers) can produce very hot but not boiling water and that Is why I warn folk when they check in to take care and mix the hot and cold water AND we have warning advice notes at every hot tap. You were warned, I'm sorry if you then scalded yourself.
I am the Owner and only come into the Apartment when guests are staying, preferably when they are in the Apartment at the time, at their request or to leave something that was requested. I have better things to do with my time than to just let myself in!
I'm sad that you felt this way. Perplexed that you made no mention to me about any concerns and didn't complete our short questionnare which we leave for every guest so that we can respond to our guests and always look at bettering our offering from constructive advice.

First floor Apartment in Comber
A lovely place to stay. The owner is very accommodating and the location is perfect. With 2 small kids, it was perfect for a family weekend in Comber. I would also recommend the cinnamon scones in the Goose Cafe in the courtyard. Even on a cold weekend is was cosy and warm. Recommended.

Warm and Cosy
Our second stay here, it's a lovely cosy apartment right in the heart of Comber. So handy for visiting Belfast, Ards, Portadown, Newry and Balintoy. We had a lovely rest and will defiantly go back.

Central, Clean and Felt like Home
Very central location, clean and spacious. A pretty apartment comfortable for 4 people. It was stocked with everything one needed to feel at home. Would recommend if you do not have a car as parking is limited. Also wifi was playing up at times, but other than that we loved our stay there!

Many thanks for your kind review. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay but sorry you had a problem with parking. Usually it works really well as there normally are plenty of free spaces adjacent in High Street for free parking and especially at night time there are very few parked at all. Sorry also if the wifi was problematic: it only works at the front of the building because the original thick stone walls prevent it from travelling to the centre or back. Armed with this information I hope you might visit us again but I'm glad that you enjoyed the visit anyway. Thanks again. David
