In the bathroom, the oval basin, set in a marble top, came from a local manor house. There is masses of hot water and a powerful shower. The simple wooden panelled kitchen is well equipped with a gas hob and really good quality combination microwave/convection oven. Double doors open out on to the terrace. Hooke is a very small village comprising of a cluster of houses, a couple of farms and a church. There are so many walks from your door. In 5 minutes you can be in beautiful Hooke Woods, home to the Architectural Associations Woodland School. Or wend your way past the wood and down through the Mapperton valley, timeless and beautiful, with a lovely cafe at Mapperton House to reward your efforts. Head east, and you reach Powerstock Common and Kingcombe; ancient landscapes, dramatic views. A 15 minute drive gets you to the coast.

Absolutely superb and unique cottage near jurassic coast
Melanie's property is a small cottage in her garden, it is extremely clean, really well equipped and absolutely unique. It was the best property we stayed in during our holiday. The inside is decorated country living style with homemade flapjacks at arrival, a good kitchen to make yourself a meal, a nice garden to enjoy your breakfast in the morning sun and a bathtub to relax after a day of exploring. It is very near the jurassic coast (10 minute drive to Chesil beach) and we spent a very happy few days trying out different roads through the country side, enjoying the stunning views of country and coast and stopping the car wherever we'd fancy to take a walk on the many public footpaths, pick some blackberries or having a cream tea. The property is really one of a kind and will make your holiday for long or short stays. Thank you Melanie!

Lovely Peaceful Retreat
I spent a very comfortable few days in the Little House, which has all the amenities required for a couple or a single traveler like myself . The location is very peaceful, perfect for those wishing to relax and for nature lovers (Lots of birdlife, I even saw some Polecats crossing the road as i drove past Hooke Woods). Despite it being the middle of August i found access to the Jurassic Coast to be very easy within approx 20 minutes you can be in Bridport or West Bay or on your way to other highlights such as Golden Cap or Lyme Regis. Melanie was very welcoming and helpful on arrival and had left some delicious biscuits to have with a cup of tea after the drive down.

Pristine "Little House"
My Wife is one of those women who despises untidy grubby holiday lets her first words upon entering "The Little House" were and i quote "look how clean and bright it is" on that note alone our holiday started so well after a long journey down to Dorset we were ready for some refreshment and sustenance imagine our surprise to find a tin of freshly baked oat cake waiting near the kettle placed there by Melanie our host for the stay Melanie was both friendly and helpful all through the stay and our pet Shi Tzu took an immediate liking to her the location of "The Little House" is in such a tranquil little hamlet just a few miles from the "Jurassic Coast" which i must admit was why we booked our holiday in that area all in all Melanie, The location and her little Dog made for a most enjoyable experience

Perfectly peaceful accommodation
Well one week on from our lovely stay at The Little House and we're still reflecting on such a great place to stay for a relaxing break. The accommodation is just perfect for two people and not so little as the title might suggest! It is comfortable and well appointed. The heating system works like a dream if chilly outside to quickly warm up the rooms. The shower and pressure is good as is the hot water. The House is nicely located with an easy drive to nearby pubs, restaurants and country walks. The wooded and open roads we travelled were quiet and beautifully scenic. The flapjacks waiting on arrival were gorgeous and welcome fuel after several invigorating walks.

Cosy little home from home
We stayed in this lovely property for a short break. The little house is prettily presented with everything that you need for your stay. A lovely bathroom with plenty of hot water and the super king bed was very comfortable. Central heating is very efficient and simple to control. Very clean and the country chic styling is very attractive. The owner is very welcoming and friendly but not intrusive. Situated in a lovely area but close to routes to explore beautiful Dorset. We would definitely return for another visit and recommend to friends and family.

PERFECT!
I stayed at the Little House for 2 nights whilst attending a course in nearby Bridport. The house itself is utterly charming - stylish, simple, full of home comforts, spotlessly clean. I felt relaxed the minute I walked in the door. Melanie provided very good directions for finding my way there, and both she and her daughter were very welcoming without being the slightest bit intrusive. I shall definitely be back!
