The kitchen is a lovely bright room which is bathed in sunlight all afternoon and evening thanks to 3 windows on 2 walls. We have maintained the cottage feel by fitting shaker style kitchen units in cream under an oak effect worktop.. Leading from the kitchen is a porch where wet outdoor clothes can be stored.
2 sunny bedrooms ensure that you are well rested to make the most of your holiday. The master bedroom has a kingsize bed, built in wardrobe and ensuite shower room and the twin room has versatile zip and link beds which convert from 2 singles to a large king size bed.
The large family sized bathroom has a free-standing shower cubilcle, with powerful thermostatic shower as well as a bath, washhand basin and toilet. You’ll find an electric shaver point here too.

We loved the cottage. It was a great location to explore Great Bernera’s local beaches, history and wildlife and we could easily access the rest of the stunning mainland. The cottage was well equipped, comfortable, clean and well decorated. We would love to come back.

Magical
This place… no words can describe how perfect this cottage is! I will try without going on too long… Every window view offer a delight to your eyes and soul, almost too much beauty to cope with. Inside the house you will find absolutely everything you need. The beds are Heaven. The lounge so cosy you look forward to the evenings all day. Coming around the corner after a day out, seeing the cottage on the hill is an amazing feeling. Finally, before I DO go on too long, The owner, Ann is lovely and helpful and always there to answer questions both before and during stay. One of the best places we have ever stayed at!

A wonderful cottage
You will not regret booking this cottage. It is placed at the beginning of the walk around Bernera and in a wonderful position where the loch meets the sea. The cottage is very comfortable and great kitchen and really good showers! Everywhere takes time to get to on Harris/Lewis and it is sort of central !

A lovely cottage in a truly wonderful place
Atlantic View Cottage is beautifully maintained, exceptionally well equipped and extremely comfortable. Anne and Chris (the owners) were welcoming and helpful. The surrounding landscape is breathtakingly beautiful. The local wildlife is astounding.
The cottage is on Great Bernera, a small island connected to Lewis by a bridge. If you've not visited Lewis before (which we hadn't), it's good to know that there are limited opportunities to shop for food outside Stornoway, so stock up with what you need before you head west. There are fresh eggs for sale from road-side stands, and at Luskentyre there was a cake cupboard beside the road with lovely home-made cakes and biscuits, there are some cafes for lunches, but general shops for groceries are few and far between.
We walked to Bosta Beach with its reconstructed Iron Age house, white sand and crystal clear water. We visited various historic sites: the standing stones of Callanish, the Dun Carloway Broch, a Norse Mill and Kiln and the Arnol Blackhouse. Our favourites of these were the Arnol Blackhouse and the Norse Mill and Kiln at Loch na Muilne. We visited Luskentyre Beach, which was stunningly gorgeous, as was the drive through the Harris hills to get there.
The landscapes, the turquoise seas, the abundance of wildlife, the silence, the absolute darkness on cloudy nights, the wonderful night sky on clear nights, all just blew us away. We had a wonderful holiday and would love to go back and do it all again.

Excellent all round cottage
This cottage is clean, comfortable, well maintained and nice and warm. The owner was on hand (but not too close) to give suggestions of things to do and to answer queries. The ginger cake she left and fresh eggs were a lovely touch. The cottage is well placed for exploring Great Bernera including a lovely coastal walk to Bosta, and is not too far from other sights in Lewis. There aren't any shops nearby apart from a PO/shop that is closing down, so be prepared with provisions. The nearest shop and restaurant are about 40 mins away. All in all a great place for a holiday.

Wonderfully Relaxing!
We've just had a wonderfully relaxing week at Atlantic View Cottage. The cottage was warm and cozy, even when the wind was blowing a gale outside. Internet connection was good. The views from the cottage were incredible, including sun sets and the stars. We had a lovely coastal walk from the cottage up to Tobson. We would also recommend the beach at Uig, which is not too far away by car and the Eilean Glas lighthouse, which is a bit further away, in Harris.

Atlantic Storms!
Our second stay at Atlantic View coincided with a spell of very wet and windy weather (think horizontal rain!). However, between showers we were able to explore all areas of beautiful Lewis. Highlights were the beaches at Bosta, Uig and Dalmore and eagle watching in the South Lochs area.
The cottage was warm and comfortable and Anne and Chris were very helpful and welcoming.
