Lovely cottage in a secluded location, perfect for escaping the crowds in these COVID times. Well equipped and very clean with areas to store walking gear etc after exploring the coastal paths. Short walk into the village up the lane or down to Polurrian Cove to watch the sunsets. Two pubs in the village and an excellent fish and chip shop by far the best we've had in a long time. Many local walks and attractions to explore in an excellent location on the Lizard peninsula. We have visited several times and will continue to do so as it is the perfect base for our trip to Cornwall.

Idyllic location
A little hidden gem. Great base for visiting surrounding area. Nice & clean and lots of pots and utensils in the kitchen.
Lovely outside seating area, very secluded. South facing.
Comfy beds. Great for dogs.
Cons: long & very bumpy road to cottage. Bathroom / shower a little dated.

Thank you for coming to stay it was a pleasure to meet you both. We managed to complete quite a lot of upgrading during the lockdown and an update for the bathroom, being an indoor winter job, is next on the list. we hope too that, when our neighbour's building works are completed, the lane will be put back to normal. Thank you again for your visit and taking the time to review us!

Week in Mullion
Lovely week staying here. Location is close to the amenities in the village and to walk to Polurrian Cove. Very peaceful and off the main roads. Cottage had everything we needed and was a good base. We did a lot of walking in both directions along the coast path. We will definitely stay again when we return to Mullion. It is well placed to explore the Lizard peninsula.

Wonderful Retreat
Super cottage situated along a narrow rutted lane with a footpath down to Pulurrian Cove just outside the garden. Turning spots are limited so follow the instructions you will be given to avoid going too far along the lane. (4G signal is limited as you approach the cottage so open the email before you get there or better still save the instructions, we hadn’t, then couldn’t open them and did go too far)
Two spacious bedrooms, very spacious kitchen lounge area complete with efficient wood burner and shower/bathroom. There is a conservatory with drying rack, plenty of room for outdoor kit)
A great place to cosy up and relax.
Chris is a wonderful host and milk & mince pies on arrivals were very welcome.
Once settled in, the coastal path is wonderful. It’s an easy walk along the cliff top from the cove along to Mullion Harbour and the chocolate factory provides a great stop on the walk back. Heading north, Poldhu cove is a short walk. Continue on and Church Cove awaits then Jangyre ryn and the Gunwalloe Fishing Cove and the excellent Hazelphron Pub. We enjoyed a super Sunday lunch, the seafood Chowder is magnificent. Then walk back or get a taxi.
Further along the Lizard Kynance Cove is well worth a visit as is Lizard point. Whilst there C & E Retallack Butchers offers wonderful meat and most cooking provisions you will need too. Support local businesses, there are Coop’s, Spar, Sainsbury and Tesco supermarkets all within a short drive.
Finally, contact Chris direct and book rather than online via the website.

Nice little cottage, great location, friendly host and dog next door
Cwary Vean Cottage is a nice little cottage with everything you need. The location is perfect to go for a walk to the closeby beach and with beautiful views along the cliffs to the next cove (Mullion Cove or Poldhu Cove) or to charming Mullion. We also used it as a starting point to explore half of Cornwall from here, which is no problem with a car. Having our host Chris and his friendly dog Tilly next door also made us feel safe and comfortable at all times. We had a great time here!

A perfect dog friendly haven.
What a great and lucky find! I have already stayed here two years running and would have stayed again this year if circumstances had allowed - however I am booked in for 2019! This is the perfect dog friendly cottage from which to explore Cornwall and the property itself is only a few minutes walk through sheep free fields to a perfect sandy cove - idyllic for early morning dogwalks or days on the beach in clement weather.
There is plenty of parking and the cottage is spacious and very well equipped with a really useful entrance area for boots, dog towels, coats etc. It is centrally heated, so always warm, but there is also a large woodburning stove for cosy nights in - or days if you are a winter visitor like me! The beds are extremely comfortable and there is plenty of storage space in the bright rooms. Unusually for a cottage, the kitchen and living area is surprisingly spacious which is a bonus as the cottage sleeps four, so no falling over each other - or any pets!
The walks either way along the headland to neighbouring coves are perfect, with stunning views and the village is within very easy reach for local shopping or visits to the pubs. Mullion itself is as quaint as only Cornish villages can be, but get in the car and you are within reach of wondrous places all over the Cornish peninsula with something to suit all ages and tastes, from Lands End and the Eden Project to Tintagel - and back via the Minack Open Air Theatre and a plethora of standing stones and burial chambers!
Chris, the owner and his dog Tilly are exceptionally friendly, welcoming and helpful, without being in the slightest intrusive. He lives on site with his wife in the property next door and is a mine of local information should it be required. I would add that as a single woman I would feel very safe should I be staying there alone with this immediate access to the owners.
I would also say book early - many people, like myself, are returning visitors which actually says it all!

Thank you Steph-we love seeing you every year and missed you this time. Your week has your name on it whenever you decide to sample more of the Celtic scenery.
Since your last visit we have had a new floor laid throughout the Cottage (very durable and dog friendly so no worries there). I shall look forward to your verdict next visit. I think you will approve.....we are very pleased with it!

Pet friendly and pretty cottage in ideal location.
A really lovely cottage a few minutes walk from Polurrian cove. The cove is close enough for the family to pull on the wetsuits and enjoy the surf to start the day. The cottage is very comfortable and ideally located to visit attractions around southern Cornwall. It is well equipped, spacious and very cosy if you are visiting in colder months. The owner is friendly, welcoming and will do everything to make sure you have a comfortable stay. We have enjoyed our stay there so much we have visited twice already and we will keep on returning. The family all look forward to our holiday in this cottage including our dog.

Thank you! You know it is always a pleasure to have you all to stay. Knowing that you have all enjoyed yourselves is the icing on the cake! I think we are very lucky at Cwary Vean, not just to be in a lovely quiet location between the village and the beach-but also with so many varied and interesting places easily accessible from here, that there is no chance of doing everything in one week! We are lucky too that the Cornish people are so friendly and welcoming-I tend to take this for granted, until our visitors remind me.
Thank you for your review-we look forward to your next visit.

Peace and quiet in a secluded location
Beautiful location at the top of Polurrian Cove. The lovely beach is just a short walk down the footpath through the field. A wonderful place especially for the dogs.
A 10 minute walk down the hill to Mullion village with its shops, pubs and restaurants.
The cottage itself is very warm and comfortable and the owner, Chris is extremely friendly and helpful.

About the neighborhood
Cwary Vean is a great centre to explore the peninsular-equally it is close to the beach and 'from the garden gate' walks inland or on the coastal path. Some guests do not use their car from arrival to departure-others are out seeing something new and different every day. There are numerous sandy beaches, gardens, castles, manorial homes and other tourist attractions. My favourites are St Michael's Mount and The Minack open air cliffside theatre. You can buy fish straight from the boat in Newlyn and Cornish pasties in the Village- hot and ready to eat.
If I tell you too much there will be no adventures of discovery and surprise delights left ........ so that's it , the rest is yours to search and discover.
Getting around
Buses run from the end of the lane (.3 of a mile from the Cottage) to Helston and Lizard. Some guests bring cycles and modern multi shift gears make the hills more manageable than they were on my old 3 speed bike!
You can even rent a ride from the local riding stables (Newton Equestrian).
Walking is Good too!.

How to get there
DIRECTIONS TO CWARY VEAN
Post code for Sat Nav: TR12 7HU NB: Sat Nav will only bring you to Laflouder lane (albeit with some unnecessary detours), you will still need these directions for the last .3 of a mile to Cwary Vean-Sat Nav will take you past Cwary Vean to the last house in the lane.
M5 TO EXETER then A30 to Okehampton, Launceston, Bodmin, Truro etc
Stay on A30 until the roundabout at Carland Cross (several large wind turbines), take A39 to Truro stay on A39 through Truro and follow signs for Falmouth and Helston leave A39 where it turns left at Ponsonooth roundabout (about 7 miles beyond Truro) and go straight on taking the A394 to Helston. Just before Helston and after hamlet** of Trewennack, at new roundabout take road to Culdrose and Lizard. Go straight over the next roundabout (Maytree and Premiere Inn). At next roundabout turn left onto A3083 and straight on at the next one (Sainsbury’s access) and straight on again at the next one (the start of the airfield with helicopter will now be on your left with the hospital on your right). After passing the end of Culdrose Airfield go straight over at the roundabout still on A3083.
100 yards or so after the roundabout turn right towards “Cury, Poldhu and Mullion golf club”; if you miss this turn you will go to Mullion via a longer route, but this way the Golf Club is 3 miles and Cwary Vean is 1.3 miles further from there.
After going through Cury and past the Golf club, Poldhu is the first beach you will see. At the top of the hill after the beach you will enter a 30 mph zone and see a ‘Mullion’ sign set in a garden wall on a fork. Follow the main road down the right fork for a few hundred yards to the bottom of the small hill, and then take the first right turn into Laflouder Lane (not Laflouder Fields, which is second turn!). Check your trip meter, as Cwary Vean is 3/10s of a mile from this turn off. Do not turn off this lane, even when it becomes narrower and unmade.
After several houses you will reach a point where the lane continues up to the right and a beach footpath goes down to the left, there is a large white square sign on the fork listing the houses, with Cwary Vean first.
Cwary Vean is 20 yards further up along the lane; the first house, after the footpath fork, it is on the left hand side. There is a fisherman’s yellow marker ball (small football size) on the telegraph pole opposite the entrance. The house name is written in granite to the right of the gate posts (there is also a house sign in the flowerbed), there is an advertisement board on the open gate. There is generally plenty of space to park and unload.
Your entrance on foot is through the garden gate to the left of the property; follow the gravel path round into the covered porch. If we are not here to greet you, the key will be in the door or the top drawer of the deep freezer in your porch. There is a parking plan in the cottage notes, to ensure easy access during your stay.
Have a safe journey!
A clear run from the Cornish/Devon border (Tamar Bridge on A30) to Cwary Vean is 90 mins
** Beware of the‘vulture’average speed trap on the 30 mph speed limit through Trewennack
