Basic barn accommodation

Recently stayed here with a friend, so having two bedrooms was a pre-requisite. I had the double room and my friend had the twin room. The barn is one of several conversions on a farm. The cottage is entered on the ground level, but bedrooms and bathroom are accessed via two small flights of steps, which could be an issue for anyone with mobility problems. All the flooring is wood, with rugs on the floors in the living areas. We were satisfied with the standard of the accommodation and facilities for the short time we were there. The grounds and surrounding area are very picturesque. It is also within a reasonable driving distance of Looe and Polperro. There are radiators in the barn, but these were switched off, so the bathroom was a bit chilly in the morning, but would hope this would be turned on in colder weather, as the only other heating is electric convector heaters which have seen better days. The shower was adequate but needs new fixing as it was difficult to position the shower head, which kept sliding down the pole. The barn has a lovely garden area at both the front and rear with garden furniture at the front. Unfortunately is no wi-fi provided and there is a very weak or non existent mobile signal at the property, so contact with the outside world is impossible unless sitting in a layby on the main road.

Lovely cottage but not as advertised.

Located next to Higher Penhole Farm East Taphouse Amongst several other barn conversions . . Booked with Skykes Cottages who have we have used before and properties always been great. Only just returned early from Swallow Cottage . We have a dog and in order to ensure we could cater for our dog we opted for this property as it was advertised as having a fridge/freezer. To say we were disappointed is an understatement . We discovered there was no fridge/freezer and the fridge in the property didn't even even have an ice compartment. This resulted in us having drive almost 20 mile round trip, every other to get food for our dog. Property was well equipped with welcome basket which was. A very nice touch as we arrived in the evening. I think ice bucket on the kitchen worktop was a complete waste of time. Turning the shower on could be difficult as the dial was very stiff and needed two hands. Fridge/Freezer was essential for us and we would never have book this property if we had correct information.
