Skiing (Info from basecampbaker)
Anthony Lakes Ski Area typically cranks it up in November and stays open into April and has the best powder in Oregon, with an average annual snowfall of 300 inches
The Rock Garden chair lift serves twenty-one runs that drop over 1000 vertical feet. The dry climate in eastern Oregon, coupled with the 9,000-foot peaks of the Elkhorn Range result in a powder so dry the Anthony Lakes crew has to occasionally water it down around the lifts.
Located in Baker County along the Elkhorn Scenic Byway, this little-known mountain riders’ hideaway is located just 19 miles west of I-84 between Baker City and La Grande Oregon.
Anthony Lakes is also one of the only ski areas in Oregon where skiers can Own the Mountain For a Day exclusively for private groups of up to fifty people. This one of a kind group getaway is available on Mondays January through March.
If you like to take in the scenic views at a slower pace, you can cross-country ski or snowshoe on more than 30 km of groomed trails through the Anthony Lakes Basin and Elkhorn Range of the Blue Mountains. The world class Anthony Lakes Nordic Center was one of five nordic ski areas featured in the November 2010 issue of National Geographic Traveler.
Beautiful old home with up-to date amenities for a perfect family gathering.
This was a wonderful overnight stay as we traveled from the Oregon Coast to Idaho and Utah. I wish we had been able to stay longer! The inside has all the charm of an old victorian home but has modern up-dates to provide everything a family needs for a comfortable stay. We were so happy to have a downstairs bedroom and bath for grandma and grandpa who had trouble climbing the stairs. The downstairs bath is also equipped with a walk in shower, also ideal for older guests. There were plenty of beds upstairs for everyone to have their own space. Everyone commented on how comfortable the beds were. The kitchen has everything needed for simple or extra special meal prep. We will definitely come again!

Perfect-Inside and Out
We stayed at the Wisdom House for one week to prepare for and view the Total Solar Eclipse. It was perfect! We often had our morning coffee on the balcony of the second floor and then an unobstructed view of the eclipse. We did not lack for anything in the house and had many meals on the patio including a BBQ using the pig. Located close to all the conveniences on Main St....besides the organic store mentioned before, a nice deli one block further, and then one more block gets you to a wonderful bakery. Very comfortable for the five of us which included 3 adult children and more if needed.

Lovely, HistoricHome!
The owner has done a fabulous job bringing this historic home back to life. Nice upgrades in many areas including air conditioning. Organic grocery store just a two minute walk down the street. Would definitely stay here again!

Wonderful charm and history!
We had an extended family girls' getaway with 8 women and a baby. Veronica was so very helpful in all ways, even providing a high chair and sleeping bed for the baby. The house is lovely with a great floor plan and we all had a wonderful and memorable time in this special house. (BTW, we used both air mattresses, which easily auto-inflated and were very comfortable.) In the middle of a fun town, beautiful yard with pleasant patio and grill, two dining areas, two full bathrooms, comfortable beds, laundry room, lots of charm and history in the house and city: we had a great time and would enjoy a return visit!
P.S. A small note - potential guests might want to be aware that there is no dish washer.
