We had a lovely stay in Marley Cottage for the time of our stay in Porlock. The house was very spacious, clean and dog friendly. The parking spot right in front of the house was very useful! Everything you need is within walking distance (pubs, restaurants, shops, ...). We also started our walks from the village, there are some beautiful coastal walks. We would recommend a stay in Marley Cottage at any time!

Marley cottage couldn't be handier for the picturesque village of Porlock, with its winding roads and thatched cottages. Although it is a cottage, it is very spacious and has been beautifully renovated. The furnishings are excellent and tasteful. The owners have provided everything you could possibly need for a stay, including a washing machine and tumble drier.

Porlock is a beautiful village, it is small but quaint the people are welcoming . Marley cottage is situated at the end of a pretty lane. As stated by the owner it is very narrow so bigger cars beware, you can't turn anywhere if you are faced with an oncoming vehicle. We drove a Rav 4 and it was tight. The turn in to the car parking space is very small, if it could be widened by two or three foot it would be perfect for getting in and out of. The garden is small but pretty, it needs a little attention. The house itself is an end terrace with shared access for the other residents in the row. You couldn't let young children out to play as it is not an enclosed space. We were out exploring to late everyday so this wasn't an issue. The house itself was very clean, the living room and dining area are one which is of benefit when staying with family. The kitchen is small but well equipped. The bathroom is downstairs and doubles up as a laundry area which was great. Bedrooms are a good size. Overall a good place to stay, great location for exploring west Somerset. It is a slower pace of life which is very welcome whilst on holiday. Also there's a good park and playing fields 3 mins walk from the house.

When booking for a short breakaway we chose Porlock based on the fact we had 'heard of it' somewhere and it was within the travelling distance we wanted. We found Porlock very easily. It is a lovely little village with all the conveniences we needed - lots of cafes, individual shops, mini markets with a vast array of goods (everything you could think of at reasonable prices), restaurants to suit all pockets, a lovely church, a children's play park.......and all within a few minutes walk either way of the main street. Marley Cottage took a little finding as it is snuggled away (and the AA directions appeared a little different to the actual). However, Marley Cottage was a joy to find. It was really clean and fresh. The layout suited us with three double bedrooms upstairs and the bathroom, kitchen and open plan lounge and dining area downstairs. Storage heating was easy to use and the added bonus of a woodburner to take the chill off a few really wet and windy days. The details state there is only room for a small to medium car but we have a C8 and managed (with a little bit of practise) to park quite comfortably. Warning - the lane to the cottage is narrow so you do have to take care and pray you don't meet another car along the lane at the same time. We had trouble locating wifi or 4G but after the first hour or so we didn't really care and it was lovely not to have to check emails or social media! All in all a lovely holiday and if we ever decided to return to that part of the world we would most probably book Marley Cottage again.

Anne, Thanks for taking the time to post this helpful review, I am so glad that you enjoyed Porlock, Exmoor and the cottage. With regard to the car I try and ensure that no one is disappointed or worried by the narrow road, hence I suggest a small or medium sized car. I am so glad you managed with a larger car. Best wishes Stephen

We took the children (5&3) along with the Grandparents to this wonderful cottage. It was very well appointed and we were not found wanting for anything. The area is nice with lots of good walks and plenty of interesting things to do.

The cottage is central to town but quiet. It had everything we needed for the week. It was nice to see no MDF furniture; it was all oak. The shower was a little underpowered but adequate. A single WC was a challenge for two teenagers and 4 adults but we coped! One also has to be very organised when cooking as the kitchen is a little on the small side.

Janet and I have just come back from a lovely week's holiday here. Although the cottage is positioned in a secluded area approached by a narrow lane, I had no problems getting my car (Fiesta) in and out. The cottage is well cared for and beautifully furnished with high quality matching furniture containing everything you need for a lovely holiday including a nice touch of fresh flowers on the table. The position is literally yards away from the village centre and we would highly recommend The Ship for anybody who's looking for an evening meal. Good food and a nice pint!

Our family had an enjoyable stay in this comfortable cottage. A small point, the wardrobe in the second bedroom is too big, a smaller one would allow the doors to be opened without minor gymnastics and hitting the bed. That aside, we all enjoyed our stay at Marley Cottage.
