Doctor John Smith's Cottage is situated in the Conservation Area of the historic town of Lydd on the Romney Marsh in Kent. A charming period cottage built in 1810. Recently refurbished and decorated to a very high standard, it retains many original features with exposed beams, and courtyard garden. The cottage offers 1 spacious double bedroom, and 1 single bedroom, living room, and fully equipped kitchen/diner with a range cooker, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and washing machine. Included also are a flat screen television, HD Blu-Ray DVD player, and HD satellite reception. The sheltered private courtyard is equipped with garden furniture and barbeque. The Apple Barn is accessed via the courtyard garden and houses my late brother's private collection of memorabilia relating to the adventures of the former owner, Doctor John Smith. Guests are welcome to enjoy this collection. The Apple Barn has a twin bedroom with single beds, flat screen television and its own bathroom with shower. There are no separate cooking facilities. The Apple Barn is not let separately to the cottage. Due to the problem of allergies dogs are not allowed the property. As the cottage is on a number of levels it may not be suitable for small children - please contact the owners for advice. This is an excellent base for those wishing to explore the area. There are extensive walking and cycling routes to enjoy and it is close to the Dungeness nature reserve. Ashford International Railway station is a short drive away for day trips to France, or you can even fly from Lydd Airport! Testimonials 'What a cute cottage! Very lovely area, highly recommend The George for friendly staff, good food and internet. Amazing Who collection - I loved waking up and seeing the Tardis out the window!' 'Had a lovely time! This was a great holiday! Thank you for all the hard work in setting this cottage up!' 'As an LA based fan it's difficult to find Doctor Who based adventures so thank you for making this location/home available for new memories.' 'I love everything here. I am in Nerd Heaven!' 'Had a wonderful time in the cottage. Beautiful and cosy place, very welcoming. The area is also nice and charming. We really enjoyed exploring the area by day and discovering classic who by night. Thank you for an amazing week.' More

Good location for visiting the local area. Nice pubs in and around Lydd. Handy for visiting the coast, and travelling to Battle, Hastings, Folkestone, Hythe, Dover, and the little railway, which was fun!
