Keepers is an apartment in a recently built barn using traditional materials on an oak frame at the 20 acre small holding of Greenfield Farmhouse, Huntington. From balconies there are wonderful views over to the Black mountains and across the top of our 10 acre wood. It is a peaceful haven and greatly appreciated by bird watchers.

Away from the cares of the world in a lovely rural retreat
A really well-designed building with a beautifully-proportioned living area full of light. Restful views over the trees and opportunities for birdwatching on the balcony.
Very private.
Welcoming and helpful hosts.
Note that washing machine and microwave are downstairs in the lobby.
Lots of footpaths nearby and Hay on Wye is within easy reach, as well as Kington and Hereford.

A wonderful week
We just spent a week at this wonderful accommodation. The owners Marilyn and Peter were very friendly and helpful providing a great atmosphere. The barn had everything we needed and was so quiet we slept really well. I spent a long time watching the birds at the peanut feeder on the balcony, mostly tits and the odd nuthatch but we never saw the spotted woodpecker even though we heard him on the roof. There is a copse below the barn which leads onto a footpath which we took and ended up at the local pub, a very quirky place with some interesting locals. The area is great for walking with plenty of information left in the barn. All in all a great place.

Beautiful spot for a great getaway
Keepers was the perfect hideaway for a wonderful weekend break. Tucked away in glorious countryside, the accommodation is clean and comfortable with two balconies from which to enjoy the views. The whole place looks newly decorated and is a great base to explore the surrounding area.
We were given a warm welcome that included fresh eggs from the chickens that roam free in the grounds.
The whole place is hidden away if you want a quiet break, while local towns are within easy reach by car (or bike - the quiet lanes would be ideal for cyclists).
We took our dog who had the time of his life, and we hope to visit again in the future. Many thanks!

Perfect setting and memorable views of the landscape.
Keepers provided excellent and restful accommodation in a perfect setting. Sheep in the fields, chickens at the back door and an endless stream of woodpeckers at the bird feeder provided constant interest.

It was a pleasure to host David and Bev who seemed to enjoy this very special place as much as us and to share it with them. Keepers was left in an immaculate way and we very much hope they will visit us again.

nice place to stay just a little isolated
The stay at Keepers was fine just a little isolated for ourselves... the weather didn't help was raining and windy. If you have lovely weather would have been a much better place. There is a balcony to sit on but it does need some attention to the standard it does need cleaning and tidying was covered in moss etc. the place itself is good but the beds very uncomfortable especially the fold out bed in the sitting room, not recommended for a good nights sleep ! Would recommend if the beds are replaced.

Most guests comment on the pleasure of the peace and quiet of Keepers and indeed watching the birds feeding from the balcony or sitting out there themselves. The bed in the living area is described as a sofa bed and to make it more comfortable a mattress topper it has a mattress topper. We will try to stop the rain in the future!

Splendid isolation
We wanted a place away from it all and that's what we got. A true back end of beyond and turn left.
Lovely accommodation; very generous for 2 of us with large living area and good sized bedroom and shower room.
Well equipped with reliable wifi too.
Entertainment of a range of small birds feeding form the bird feeders on the balcony at breakfast.
Easy to get to Hay on Wye (great range of eateries) and Kington (for walks).
Very friendly and helpful hosts.
Overall a great place for a short break. Just not a place if you like a quick trot from the place to get the morning paper!

Beautiful property in a beautiful place
We were very happy with our stay here. The cottage is spacious for two and very well appointed. The location is excellent if you want somewhere quiet and rural. There are lovely views, whilst getting to Hay or the Black Mountains is easy (NB a car is essential). On top of that, the place is a bargain!

We would so enjoy another visit here, go if you can!!!!!
If you have a dog and enjoy his company and loyalty, take him here to be spolt for walks. You too, will love the care Marilyn offers. Greenfield is peaceful, rest all you want with a book, or simply enjoy the radio watching the birds feed on the balcony. Walk to the lovely church or walk the Brecon Beacons. Nothing is too much trouble and it is extremly tasteful and comfortable. It ranks as one of the best hidaways we have discovered and could find no fault, except perhaps driving the country lanes, but they were there long before Marilyn!!

Idyllic location, great accommodation and dog friendly.
We stayed in Keepers for 2 nights. Very comfortable accommodation and made to feel very welcome by Marilyn and Peter as was our dog. It is set in a wonderful location with glorious views across the valley. There is a trail through woods on the doorstep which was perfect for our dog. We had a lovely walk along Offas Dyke which is not far away. Thoroughly recommended.

About the neighborhood
Huntington is a small village of scattered farms close to the border between Wales and England, marked by Offas Dyke which is a footpath travelling the length of the boundary. Unusually there are two churches, the United Reform Church and St Thomas a Becket which lies hidden in the fields. Nearby The Swan, a very old pub, is thought to have been built on the site of an inn dating back to the 13th century. There are remains of Huntington Castle, possibly built in William the Conqueror's time and remains of a motte and bailey. The whole area is a wonderful place to enjoy peace, quiet and beautiful scenery as well as having plenty for the active and those who enjoy history and geology.
