Pearl Cottage is a lovely Cotswold stone cottage in Blockley, built in 1837, at the end of a short terrace of four houses called Albert Cottages, all with semi-circular topped windows. Blockley is a picturesque, historic village that benefits from having two great pubs and a community owned village shop and cafe, as well as a Norman church in the centre of the village used for Father Brown on UK TV. It's the perfect base from which to explore the many beautiful towns and villages of the Cotswolds, as well as further afield places such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Blenheim Palace and Oxford. Completely renovated and refurbished in Winter 2016, Pearl Cottage's decor combines light and fresh contemporary with a traditional feel. It oozes style - natural neutral fabrics, wooden carvings, sumptuous chairs, quality crockery, glassware and cutlery, and a delightful wood burning stove - are just some of the features. It has fast wifi throughout, a SMART HD TV and a well presented kitchen with a massive dining table. Pearl Cottage sleeps a maximum of five people, in three bedrooms, with one bathroom. At the back we have an enclosed garden, and free on street parking is readily available along the quiet road. Pearl Cottage is an ideal retreat for friends or a family looking for a lovely cottage in a beautiful location. Please note - there is no stair gate and so for some families with very active toddlers and young children the cottage may not be suitable. There is free parking along the street, usually directly outside the house. More

About the neighborhood
Blockley is situated to the north of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and is a typically lovely Cotswold village with honey-coloured stone houses nestled between green rolling hills and built around a Norman church dating from 1180. The village has two pubs and a lively village shop & cafe, and is within easy reach of all the major attractions in the area. The village has a long history having once been one of the Cotswold’s famous ‘Wool Towns’. Laid out along the fast-flowing Blockley Brook at the bottom of the valley several mills used to employ hundreds of workers and the village even used to have its own railway station!
Getting around
The village is a quiet, idyllic Cotswold retreat. Leaving the cottage on foot, there are many walks you can take into the hills surrounding the town. Only slightly further afield by car or local bus are the towns of Stow-on-the-Wold, Chipping Camden, Broadway, Bourton-on-the-Water and Moreton-in-Marsh. Moreton-in-Marsh has a direct train to London (c90 minutes). There are plenty of local taxi firms and you can hire bikes. You can spend years exploring the delights of the Cotswolds – all of the seasons offer something unique from glorious hot sunny days walking the hills and fields, to cold blustery days spent in front of a pub fire chatting to the locals.
