Lovely location - shame about the military manoeuvres!
Our 2 night stay coincided with apparently very rare MoD activity. Our nights were disturbed by low flying helicopters and we awoke on the first morning to the sound of small arms fire in the distance. The owner, Jenny, was dismayed but in fairness to her it was entirely beyond her control. Nonetheless, I am unable to comment on the tranquility of the location other than to say that it is a lovely setting. The accommodation has everything 2 people would need and is very comfortable. Access to the bedroom is up quite a steep narrow staircase so reasonable mobility is necessary. We visited in Spring so heating was not required; other reviewers are better placed to comment on Winter months. The surrounding area provides some good walking with great views. The Hatch and Gallipot Inns are excellent watering holes and do give the hand risen pork pies of Nick The Butcher of Hartfield a try. In summary, The Piggery provides a great base from which to explore a lovely area but try to find out what the Army's doing!

Great cottage...rustic charm!
Colemans Hatch, Hartfield, Ashdown Forest. Very central for exploring the area, cottage actually in the forest so dog walks right outside the gate. Lovely garden with stream running through, we saw a Kingfisher!!! Lots of National Trust properties within easy reach.....Great Craft Fair at Hever Castle the weekend we were there! Great walking in the Forest, saw deer very close by, a beautiful place!! And a charming cottage! Owners made us very welcome.

We liked it so much we stayed again....and we still love it
A wonderful little 1-bed cottage by a winding stream in the heart of the Ashdown Forest. About half and hours stroll to Pooh Sticks Bridge this is in AA Milne's country. As a peaceful serene piece of English Countryside it takes some beating. Jenny and Paul could not be more welcoming. If you like walking, tranquility, gorgeous rural pubs and Winnie the Pooh you can't go wrong.

A wonderful stay
We stayed at The Piggery for a week, using it as a base for visiting gardens in Sussex and Kent. It was a perfect spot. Warm and cosy, with everything we needed. Comfortable sitting room with table & chairs, plus kitchen, bathroom and a washing machine downstairs, and a bedroom upstairs in the loft. Our hosts, Jenny & Paul were extremely helpful and friendly, and went out of their way to make our stay successful, offering books and advice on what to see. We had an excellent meal at the local pub. We would unhesitatingly recommend The Piggery.

6/5 An Oasis in the English Countryside
It's hard not to stray into superlatives in describing just how good our romantic 2-night stay at the Piggery was. But in a nut-shell it is a beautiful cosy 1-up, 1-down converted outbuilding with a wood stove and lots of tasteful decoration. If you are after a peaceful break in the country, with lots of walks and meals at rural pubs then this is what you are looking for. The fact that it is a gentle 30min stroll to Poo Sticks bridge is just the icing on the cake. Oh and Jenny and Paul are superbly welcoming. Do yourself a favour, if you need a romantic break in the country, in a quinessentially English way, then book this fine establishment.

Perfect little piece of heaven and peace just an hour from London
Jenny and Paul are so friendly and their hospitality is second to none. The Piggery is just so cozy and just perfect for a total rest. Walks in the forest are on the door steps, so many little towns nearby to visit, Winnie the Poo bridge is walking distance. All in all I had a perfect week on my own and feel refreshed. This is all thanks to the Piggery, Janny and Paul. I highly recommend it. I will definitely go back as soon as I feel I need a good rest.

Lovely cottage in Winnie the Pooh country
Great place to stay and explore the Forrest walks all around where Winnie the Pooh was written. Beautiful countryside and a fantastic setting for a lovely little cottage at the piggery. Everything you need plus a roaring fire and beautiful stream running past with a private deck for a glass of wine. Even a little honesty mini bar. Jenny and Paul were great hosts, very friendly and approachable. And their dogs were lovely too! We will definitely stay again

Perfect getaway spot!
We had an absolutely lovely time at the piggery. We were warmly welcomed (Jenny even offered to pick us up from the station because we were without a car)! The fire was made up for us when we arrived and we had everything we needed. The garden and stream were gorgeous - can imagine they are even more so in the Summer! Plenty of lovely walking routes near by and the local pub is not to be missed! Hope to visit again soon. Thanks for a lovely stay!
