light provided by large windows. It is in an enviable position in the
ever popular seaside town of Southwold, a stone's throw from the beach,
pier and High Street.

A very average experience
The house is well positioned, close to the pier and beachfront. The walk into town is a little longer, but still very manageable. There was ample street parking nearby the property, so the lack of dedicated parking was not an issue.
There are four bedrooms; one master with a king bed, one with a double bed and two with two twin beds. All the bathrooms are at the rear of the property, none are adjacent to the bedrooms.
One living room on the corner of the property; a dining room which seats 8 with the expanding dining table; and a series of rooms off the dining room, a kitchen, utility room (2 fridge, 1 freezer, 1 washer, NO dryer), mud room and a downstairs walk-in shower bathroom. There is a very small courtyard from the mud room which is used to house the bins.
The house was given two stars by us for a few reasons: We had a few issues during our stay which is why this house has been rated poor.
First: The house was not clean upon arrival. The floors, sofas and surfaces were not clean and we had to spend the first afternoon cleaning the house again. On our final day we were still finding dust under and around the sofas.
Secondly: One of the twin beds upstairs collapsed whilst one of our family was sitting on it. The bed should have been able to support the weight of an 11 stone adult, but clearly that wasn't the case. Given the sharp metal it exposed, they were lucky that it wasn't during the night where they might have fallen against it.
Third: The showers are impossible to adjust to a safe temperature, it wildly varies from cold to boiling hot. This meant that all the showers were unsafe for children to use. This was mentioned in the visitor book back in August 2020 and hasn't been addressed.
Finally: The dishwasher does not work, this was reported in the visitor book already; and it still has not been fixed - there's obviously no urgency to resolve maintenance issues. It runs but never gets hot, it just blows cold water on the plates and never actually cleans anything. It led to a significant issue with dirty pots, pans, plates and cutlery throughout our stay. We had to almost totally re-wash all of the glasses, cutlery and plates by hand to ensure that we weren't eating from dirty dishes. There were soiled pans left in cupboards which were obviously months old.
At no fault of the owner: This property has become the dumping ground for lots of local bins. It's very clear which bins belong to the house, but there was at least three other sets of bins left alongside the house which we had to navigate to leave or enter by the back door.
