Relax and enjoy the beautiful Coorong National Park in contemporary, self contained accommodation. This affordable holiday house is situated on the Coorong Waterfront 15kms south of Meningie, just 2 hours drive from the centre of Adelaide. An ideal stopover if you are travelling between Adelaide or Kangaroo Island and the Limestone Coast, Great Ocean Road and Melbourne. Enjoy the lagoon and birdlife on the kayaks provided, pack a picnic and explore the national park or stay cosy by the fire. Coorong Waterfront Retreat accommodates up to 6 people in 3 queen size beds/rooms and includes a full kitchen, laundry facilities, bathroom, TV/DVD, reverse cycle air conditioning, BBQ, kitchen garden and landscaped garden. Long stay discounts apply.

Amazing

An excellent location to see pelicans, swans, cormorants and an amazing variety of birds from your very own front window. The retreat has 3 bedrooms and is immaculately clean with clear instructions for visitors and enough games and entertainment options for months. This place deserves a rave review for how they look after guests. There is an induction stove-top, telescope, bicycles and kayaks, and much more.

Perfection

Absolute waterfront, with 180 degree views across the Coorong to the ocean, a wonderful wood fire and no lights anywhere at night so the stars were breathtaking. This accommodation has been so thoroughly thought out, you will want for nothing, there’s even a coffee machine. Plenty of firewood provided, plus a kitchen garden and bush food garden where you’re invited to help yourselves. The beds are very comfortable and the whole house is spotless. I can’t recommend staying here enough, and we will certainly be back as soon as we can

Excellent

Very quiet and lovely location, and an excellent property. Very clean and comfortable. Kitchen and lounge area very well equipped and super clean Communication from hosts excellent before and during stay. One bathroom for 6 beds and apparently limited water supply - could be a bit of a issue for a large group but didn't bother us.

Beautiful house , fabulous location.

We all had a really lovely few days in this great house. Everything you could need is provided including the herb garden and a pantry with basics and treats! It is sparkling clean, the wood fire was great as the weather wasn’t that brilliant, but it didn’t matter as we explored the area on foot and Meningie provided some fun on Sunday with a vintage caravan display and market. Will definitely come again. The owners are exceptionally helpful and welcoming.

Sparkling!

The weather was disappointing but we had a wonderful stay anyway. The view from the large windows was constantly changing and always interesting. The cabin is modern and very well equipped for a really comfortable stay. Sparkling clean and many amenities and conveniences included. A real home away from home. We couldn't be happier and have already booked our next stay.

Outstanding relaxing stay in the Coorong

Fantastic stay at Coorong Waterfront Retreat. Awesome location, opposite the water. Impressive bird life in the area and the views from the lounge room are breath taking. Our children loved taking the kayaks out and we really enjoyed the bike rides along the water front. The house itself was clean, beautifully appointed, and had brilliant information about the local area. The small touches such as welcome gift, sustainable garden with local herbs, telescope, and even a Coorong based board game made it an even better stay. We loved the quiet location, was a great way to relax. Would come back again.

Completely perfect in every way

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect retreat! With it’s stunning views across to the water, this beautiful home-from-home has been thoughtfully (and tastefully) furnished and equipped to provide everything you could possibly need. Wendy and Dean are there if you need them but you have complete privacy otherwise. There is a wealth of information provided about the abundant bird life, the native frogs in the garden pond and the area in general. Bicycles and kayaks are provided for the use of guests but the real star of the show is the house itself which could not have been better. Highly recommend!

Beautifully appointed home in excellent location, overlooking the Coorong lagoon.

So comfortable, even on a winter's weekend. Very well appointed and loved the "Coorong styled" bush garden at the back of the home, also access to the herbs in the garden. Managed to take out the bikes and kayak which was a bonus. And impressed by the art works in the home, and great range of books, games and information brochures.

Wonderfull Coorong retreat and adventures

What a wonderful retreat, right on the waterfront of the Coorong, south of Meningie. The house is well-appointed, inside and out, spacious, modern design, easy living with quality household facilities. The comprehensive and easy access Information on the local area, its extensive natural resources, wildlife, local walks, activities and local indigenous culture and crafts was very helpful in planning our activities. One highlight of our adventure was taking the kayaks provided to cross the Coorong waters and then hike across the massive sand dunes to the southern ocean. Magic!!!, Storm Boy Country.. A retreat for all seasons, we will be back!!! Roger and friends

Everything you could want or need

This accommodation provided everything we could want/need and it was all high quality and immaculately clean. The hosts had gone the extra mile with everything from crockery, utensils, fancy teas and coffee, a gift basket with genuine bush tucker, house and tourism information, entertainment products, kayaks and push bikes, washing liquids and even candles for a relaxing bath. Most importantly, the beds were comfortable. We particularly enjoyed the vegetable garden, sitting by the frog pond, and spying on pelicans through the telescope. And you couldn't get a better location, right on the waters edge, looking across to giant sand hills.

About the neighborhood

Coorong Waterfront Retreat is nestled amongst a small, peaceful waterfront settlement of holiday houses, shacks and a few permanent residences. It is one of the few built locations fronting the Coorong National Park. The waterfront is rugged, natural and undeveloped. The Coorong (saline lagoon) stretches for 50kms in either direction and the water crossing in front of the Retreat is 2kms. Much of the crossing is shallow although it does exceed head height in parts. A fisher can sometimes be spotted setting a net for Coorong mullet (prized through Australia) directly out from the Retreat. The shoreline varies throughout the year but there is always space for making your way along the waterfront to explore or to launch the kayaks.

Getting around

You can use the kayaks provided and paddle on the lagoon directly in front of the house or you can drive to any of the many points of interest in the Coorong National Park or around the Lower Lakes.
