My husband and I stayed here for a few nights while we were road tripping for our honeymoon & it was probably the highlight of our whole trip. The roundhouse was absolutely gorgeous and we just loved how self sufficient the house was and the beautiful flowing cascades literally at the doorstep. Completely private and a great way to get away from the hustle and bustle of life and escape to nature.

This place is honestly amazing! Nestled into the Daintree is not an exaggeration. The rainforest is right on your doorstep and is not more than 2 metres from the edge of the house for roughly 270 degrees around the house, creating a magnificent outlook. The effect is absolutely delightful and felt like we were (comfortably) right in amongst it. Out kids loved exploring the cascading rockpools as well as sitting around the fire at night, as did we. My husband is a 'clean freak' (his words, not mine!) and couldn't believe how clean the whole place was. I loved the small touches, such as having Daintree tea, nice coffee, scissors (don't need them often, but great to have them when you do) and other kitchen items. There seemed to be just enough of everything. The kids learn about sustainability at school and loved the idea that it was off the grid, and did not seem to mind at all that there was no internet. It was really hard to come up with something in the way of an aspect we didn't like, so the only thing I could say is that if you want to swim in the rock pools they do require a degree of navigation across rocks so could be tricky if you are not sure footed. Overall though, a wonderful place to stay and we will definitely be back!

The Roundhouse at Cascade Falls is a hidden gem nestled in the Daintree Rain Forest. Windows look out on the cascading waterfalls easily accessible down a pebbled path to the pools. The luscious greenery of the forest and rushing creek can be enjoyed from the two different patio tables located just outside the great room. The kitchen is well appointed with everything needed to cook for family meals, including a full-size refrigerator. The open concept kitchen, dining room and great room are spacious. The downstairs bedroom has a queen size bed with a sliding door to provide privacy or quiet a family might need for children. A circular stairway leads to a large loft upstairs. The built-in queen size bed is extremely comfortable and additional floor space both up and downstairs could easily accommodate a family of 6. (A roll-away bed was in the laundry room.) Besides a big screen television and numerous videos, there were several games for entertainment. We honestly didn't touch these, we were too mesmerized with the incredible beauty surrounding the Roundhouse! Our vacation allowed us two nights at the Roundhouse and we sincerely wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy the serene tranquility. We will definitely go back!

Having spent two nights here at the roundhouse from 21 April 2017, with my partner and two children 16 and 13, my only regret was not changing our plans and leaving Port Douglas a day earlier and staying for three nights. On arrival you feel truly blessed to be in such a beautiful location...the views from the house to the cascades are exquisite and the house is lovely. To quote The Castle.... "feel the serenity". The creek is beautiful but be careful as it is slippery. As a lifelong visitor of mountain creeks you do need to take care and James and Ali rightly advise you of this. Take your reef shoes or old sneakers! On a purely practical front the fridge and freezer are large, hot water plentiful and the home was naturally lovely and cool. The available ceiling fans were enough and I never thought we needed AIr conditioning despite partner being on chemotherapy. Although I was surprised by how regularly it rained (you could set your clock by it) and generally the weather would have been described as mild unless standing in the infrequent full sunshine when the temperate would spike. The kids forced us out of the mezzinine/loft bedroom and then complained about the sound of heavy rain of the roof, so if you are a light sleeper you might need earplugs, but don't let this put you off just be prepared. We had no problems with power or gas during our stay (as noted with reviews for other properties in the area). The hot water is continuous gas and running a bath is not a problem, although I did have to fiddle with the taps to get hot water to flow from the bath tap.. So don't give up to soon. There is no washing machine and I doubt you could get your washing dry between rain anyway so don't turn up with a load of dirty clothes. I would not hesitate to return or recommend this property to friends or family and would suggest you stay for three nights. Especially when compared to the price of quite basic accommodation for a family of four in Cape Tribulation ... this is a great place to stay! Don't hesitate to contact if you have any questions and keep your eyes opens for amazing fungi growing in the garden and surrounds.

This is the place to be if you want to forget about the rest of the world. Tranquil and magical would be the best words to describe this place. My husband and I spent 3 nights at the cottage and loved every second. When we drove in we realised that we had hit the accommodation jackpot. The photos honestly do not do it justice. The cottage is well equipped, hidden away in the forest and comes with it's own private swimming hole at the bottom of beautiful cascades and a mini waterfall. It rained most of the time that we were there but that won't dampen any stay. The Daintree sparkles in the rain and there's much to explore. We recommend 'On the Turps' and 'Whet' for dining and 'Coopers Creek Croc tours' and the 'Daintree discovery Centre' for fun things to do. Oh and Floravilla Ice Cream factory - we recommend trying the Iron Bark honey and Daintree Rainforest flavours.

We stayed in the Roundhouse for 2 nights and it was absolute bliss. The accommodation is situated in such a quiet and tranquil area which you can go out and explore. There is nothing more refreshing than taking a dip in the creeks when it's warm and humid outside. One of our favourite treats was being able to wake up in the morning and have our first coffee along with the large lizards which were also out for a sun bake. And who wouldn't enjoy sitting outside at night in the darkness looking up at the stars and hearing all the little noises the rainforest has to offer. Here you can forget that the rest of the world exists.

We stayed at the Daintree Cascades Roundhouse for 2 nights and did not want to leave. The house was simple, relaxing and with tasteful furniture in a stunning environment. It is right beside the beautiful rainforest cascades which we swam in and explored with our 2 girls who loved it! The noise from the cascades can be very loud depending on what rain they have just had. We have already recommended this amazing house and environment to many people-enjoy:)

My family and I stayed at the Roundhouse for 2 days to enjoy the rainforest and believe me, there was no better way to enjoy it. The owners, James and Ali, were extremely helpful and professional. The house was bliss, the photos on Trip Advisor don't do it justice. The house is circular and all glass doors so you can enjoy the view of the rainforest from any part of the house. It was extremely clean, and surrounded with louvers that are netted to ensure no creepy crawlers come in. However, if you aren't a fan of creepy crawlers this might not be the place for you, as we still got some unwanted visitors, mainly a large huntsman in the house that bit one of us. But you are in the rainforest afterall so these things are inevitable. The kitchen came fully stocked with all utensils, and just a few metres down from the house you have a natural stream with a creek you can swim in. Unfortunately it was a bit dry when we were there so we couldn't swim in the stream closest to the roundhouse, but we used the larger stream of the Cottage as that was unoccupied. The place doesn't come with wifi or even a mobile signal, so it is a perfect way to get away from it all and really be at one with nature. It does however come with a home phone for emergencies or to book any tours. The only downside to the place is that it does get a bit hot inside during the day since there are only 2 fans, one in each bedroom and these are not mobile. I would recommend adding another fan in the living room/ kitchen area, but we managed to keep cool by cooling off in the creek. The place is accessible by any normal car, and is only a 30 minute or less drive up to Cape Tribulation. We could only stay for 2 days, but I would recommend staying for longer as it the perfect place to really unwind and relax.

The Round House is indeed round (well, octagonal) and has floor to ceiling windows around most of its circumference, so while you sit inside, you see and hear the rainforest everywhere around you. Birds and butterflies abound and one evening we saw a big lizard on a nearby rock - very cool. Apparently a cassowary visits now and then but we did not see him (or her). You have your own private waterfalls and rock pools just down the steps from the house, which sound beautiful and are lovely to dip in. You can see and hear the falls from inside the house, which is wondrous. As it rained prodigiously one of the days we were there, the waterfall became wild and even more spectacular. The house was spotlessly clean and pristine in every way, with beautiful wood/stone/glass construction and details. It is even more gorgeous in person than in the photos online. Practical info: • It has a full kitchen and bath (with tub), two bedrooms (one in the loft), a spacious dining area (seats 6) and lounge/living room with three sofas and a big flat-screen TV for watching DVDs (of which there is a large supply on hand). • There is an outdoor BBQ and table/chairs for four. • No mobile/cell phone service of course and the house is hydro-powered by the water running by! • There is a smaller cottage on the property as well, but it is a good distance away and is accessed by a separate driveway. It even has its own waterfalls, so we never heard or saw anyone while we were there. • The house is barely an hour north of Port Douglas and offers a great jumping-off point for activities in the Cape Tribulation area - horse rides on the beach, small, almost private tours of the Great Barrier Reef, salt-water crocodile spotting on then Daintree River, rainforest walks.... • Ali and James were perfect, gracious hosts - available if we needed them and otherwise invisible. My husband and I rented the house for three nights, and I cannot imagine a more beautiful, romantic haven. I would even come here alone on a quiet retreat, yet it would also be great for a family. Truly spectacular, and not to be missed.
