This is a charming stone cottage in a quiet river valley near Ashbourne in the Peak District. It is very comfortable, clean and well equipped. Swallow Cottage is well situated to explore the area. Tissington Village and Dovedale are 10 minutes away. The swimming pool looked inviting for warmer weather and there is a beautiful orchard for a stroll.

Stayed with our two children (aged 1 and 9) and had an absolutely magnificent time. It truly is a beautiful cottage in a beautiful part of the world - we loved every minute. The owners are so lovely, making it an even more perfect place to stay. The grounds are wonderful to explore, the pool is fantastic and the cottage itself is homely and cosy, with everything you could need to enjoy a break there. It is also in a great location with many wonderful walks to enjoy - our favourites were Dovedale, Thor's Cave, Chatsworth and Tissington. We loved it so much we have already booked for 2021! Thank you so much for a wonderful holiday xxx

Spent 5 days at this lovely cottage for our honeymoon. The cottage was spacious and well equipped and has a good outdoor garden. Amazing swimming pool which was a blessing when the heat got above 30 degrees!! Izzy and Simon were very welcoming and happy to give advice on places/pubs to visit. Walked into Tissington from the cottage (path bit overgrown but still lovely). Visited Herbert's fine tea rooms for breakfast and Edward and Vintage sweet shop for lovely fudge and mango ice cream. Cottage is close to Dovedale and Ilam park and a nice drive to Chatsworth House. Enjoyed meals at the Old Dog and The Duncombe Arms. A wonderful place to stay for our honeymoon. Thankyou.

Wonderful welcome from Izzy, home made cake and a bottle of wine. Cottage has everything you need and is a home from home. Beautiful scenery and lots to do and see. The Heights of Abraham was a great day out and a trip to the cinema in Derby due to a rainy day was good as the Showcase cinema is in a massive shopping complex.

We felt at home immediately in this cottage . Plenty of space for all of us in and outside the cottage. It was better than my expectations . Could spend all day relaxing by the private pool or exploring the Peak District.

Our first mini break as an engaged couple! And what a fabulous break it was. Charming, cosy cottage with beautiful grounds in a stunning setting. Loved the little touches by Izzy. It was amazing to see the Peak District in the snow and can't wait to return in the summer to see it in the sun! Looking forward to our next visit. Thanks Izzy xo

This beautiful cottage is very remotely set near Fenny Bentley but still only 2 miles from Ashbourne. The owner Izzy was so very accommodating and had made our stay feel extra special adding little touches to celebrate our anniversary. The log fire, huge sofa, array of books, dvds and gorgeous four poster bed made it such a wonderful weekend. The country walks and pubs in nearly villages provided amazing scenery and food. We will definitely be returning again with our 2 boys.

A very disappointing stay in a cottage in some need of updating. From an unclean oven, blackened with baked on grease and dirt, to badly stained glasses this cottage did not live up to expectations. We left early our only regret is that we did not invite the owners in to discuss these issues. On contacting them upon our return they seemed unhelpful and uninterested. We would not recommend a stay here.

I am so sorry that you found your stay at Swallows Cottage disappointing and really do wish that you had mentioned these two items whilst you were staying with us. I had cleaned the oven myself so I can only apologise if you thought it was not up to scratch and I agree, you are quite right - some of the tumblers had suffered frosting (from dishwasher use) which I have replaced. Both these issues could have been resolved within an hour of your arrival and I am just so sorry that we didn't have an opportunity to rectify the situation whilst you were with us. With all best wishes, Izzy

We have just arrived back from a lovely weekend away in the Peak District. Swallows Cottage is a dream, very homely, comfortable and in an amazing setting. We spent a whole evening exploring the grounds with our children who spent hours fishing for newts. Izzy the owner is very warm and welcoming and has everything covered from; eating out recommendations, days out, encouraging us to use the beautiful pool to adding a very addictive coffee machine to the kitchen. I would like to think we will return here, my children didn't want the weekend to end. Excellent base for lots of lovely villages in the Peak District not to mention Tissingdon.
