Beautiful retreat in the countryside
We were a party of 10 and stayed at this wonderful barn conversion for a short stay to celebrate my 50th birthday. It was in a very peaceful situation with gorgeous countryside around and the property was fully equipped with everything we needed. We enjoyed exploring the local area with a trip to Chatsworth, the nearby small town of Matlock and also Alton Towers for some theme park fun! We also hired some bikes to ride around the nearby reservoir which took about two hours and was again a beautiful place to explore (although it did have some tricky hills to get up!!) Overall the property was a very beautiful place to stay and a great base from which to explore the area and we would definitely love to return one day in the future. We were provided with a lovely hamper on arrival and the whole process from initial booking to departing was smooth from start to finish with plenty of information provided along the way. Thank you for a most wonderful stay!

Excellent accommodation in a stunning location
Set in a beautiful rural location, affording privacy yet with stunning views Valley View Barn is the perfect accommodation for a fabulous holiday. Holiday attractions are easily accessible and varied. We were a party of 11 covering 3 generations from 70 to 19 months and the barn and amenities suited us all perfectly. The barn is well equipped, comfortably furnished, super bike storage, large south facing patio and parking for numerous cars. The booking staff were friendly, accessible, and very attentive. I have no hesitation in highly recommending this accommodation. We certainly hope to return.

Beautiful cottage in wonderful location
A group of 14 of us stayed in this beautiful cottage for a long weekend. There was more than enough room for all of us. The welcome basket was a nice special touch upon arrival. They cottage was clean and had all amenities that we needed. We arranged a raft building activity at tittesworth reservoir water sports which was a lot of fun as a team building exercise. The cottage is very private and has amazing views from the patio.

Perfect Group accommodation
Valley view barn fiited our needs perfectly; we were a large group of friends and family attending a wedding nearby. The property has plenty of parking, the amount of ensuite bedrooms and how they are spread throughout the house worked really well for us (some early risers/some party people!) and the communal areas are plenty big enough and light and airy. I would definitely stay again, from booking to check out, we had nothing but a perfect experience with the team who run the barn- in particular Sophie. A couple of things I would say; if you are staying here make sure you do a big shop before arrival (the nearest shop is around half an hour drive away) and also, make sure you put the extractor fan on when cooking anything, there is a smoke detector in the apex above the cooker which we fell afoul of!

Great place for a family weekend away
Lovely barn and cleaned to a very high standard. Lovely welcome hamper with wine and local products. Very well stocked with washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, first aid box etc. Plenty of bedrooms most with own en-suite. I would just say that it was a bit of a tight squeeze into some of the showers but large bath available if necessary!! Very private and picturesque with large enclosed patio, great for bbq and great for kids to run around safely. Sophie was extremely helpful and friendly - nothing was too much trouble. Provided lots of local information before our arrival which was very useful. My only constructive comment would be that the floor plan was hard to understand when trying to arrange who slept where. Overall a lovely weekend in Derbyshire. Would definitely recommend the barn.

Perfection!!! Beautiful barn surrounded by beautiful countryside.
Very impressed with the booking process and very useful information from Sophie. Particularly liked the 'what not to bring' list - a genius idea! Once there we were all very impressed with the barn and it's amazing location. Inside and outside provided everything we could wish for and for a party of 12 with age range 9 - 70 that is saying something. The kitchen is extremely well equipped. We loved the massive dining table, plenty of room for 12 hungry guests. Bedrooms very comfortable and roomy, option to have twins or doubles meant that everyone was happy and the floor plan we received after booking was a great help deciding who went where. Comfy seating area, plenty of room. Indulgent welcome basket and chocs for me and hubby celebrating our 70ths. I could keep going with the praise - just perfect. Thank you.

Fantastic accomodation for family groups!
Family of 11 ranging in age from 16 to 83 Perfect amenities and fantastic welcome pack I would agree with an earlier review that some of the showers are a bit small but what an amazing conversion! From the outside, you wouldn't think this place could accommodate 14.. very cleverly designed. Excellent communal space meant we could all be together One slight criticism, again mentioned in another review- the smoke detectors in the kitchen! Very loud and extremely sensitive even with the hob extractor on... Oh well just an excuse not to cook! Will definitely be recommending to friends and families Thank you

Lovely place to stay
Really nice barn conversion, comfortably accommodated our party of 9 celebrating 40 years of nursing. Kitchen had everything you could need for cooking, which we did every evening. Lots of glasses, and crockery so not having to wash up all the time. Nice to have dishwasher with tablets provided too. The big communal living/ dining/ cooking area was great, we could all be in one space together, very sociable. We didn’t use the outside as it rained but the brief grimes of the view were lovely. Bedrooms very comfy, and it was nice and warm. Would recommend it for a big party of people, especially with all the zip lock beds to adapt to every bodies needs.

Great location and lovely barn conversion
We stayed here as a group of 10 adults and 4 children over the Christmas holidays. The house was a great base for exploring the Peak District with easy access to Ashbourne for supermarkets and shopping! We visited chatsworth estate and dovedale steppingstones while in the area! The house itself worked well and we were able to cook an excellent Christmas lunch with all the equipment in the kitchen! The owners supplied a lovely Christmas tree and welcome hamper for us which was a nice touch. I’d recommend this place large groups wanting a quiet location in the Peak District!

Amazing!
Our rather large extended family had an excellent and enjoyable stay at Valley View Barn. Decorated and furnished to a good standard. Lovely patio and large green space. Brilliant base to explore the peak District. Service provided by the valley view barn team was second to none - excellent communication throughout and prepared to go the extra mile. Would highly recommend, and I'll be booking again in the future.

About the neighborhood
The Barn is adjacent to a footpath and stream which joins Tissington Trail and conveniently connects to Carsington Water (where the famous Ellen McCarthur learnt to sail); offering our guests good walking and cycling opportunities from the holiday cottage. Valley View Barn is within driving distance of Bakewell, Buxton, Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, Carsington Water, Thorpe Cloud and Alton Towers.
Getting around
We would suggest travelling to and from Valley View Barn via car as the easiest mode of transport. However, if you wish to travel via train and then taxi to the property, we would suggest using Ashbourne Taxis. Alternatively, if you have a larger party at Valley View Barn, we would recommend hiring a coach from Warringtons Coaches in Thorpe, to take you to and from Peak District attractions.
