Brilliant cottage, great hosts
Excellent cottage, with everything you need, very comfortable sofas and beds which is always good, situated on a working farm with lots of animals and two extremely friendly dogs. Great to talk to Martin and Joanne, great hosts, about the sustainable way they manage the farm and make it wildlife friendly. We love the area and would love to return maybe in the winter when the birdlife is busier. Its far enough from the hustle and bustle of the Lake District but easy enough to get to places, Inc RSPB Leighton Moss, Campfield Marsh and WWT Caerlavrock over the border in D & G

Cosy cottage on lovely friendly farm.
Had a lovely 2 night stay in the Old Grainstore as a family of 4. The cottage was beautifully clean, spacious but cosy and filled with absolutely everything we needed. Joanne's home baking was absolutely delicious and she and Martin were very friendly and helpful. Our children loved meeting the 2 dogs and feeding the chickens and we had a lovely weekend exploring the local area.

Everyone catered for
We have just returned from a 5 night stay at The Old Grainstore.
Martin and Joanne made our family feel so welcome, everyone was catered for, especially our 13 month old granddaughter, providing her with lots of toys.
Nothing was too much trouble.
The cottage was scrupulously clean, comfortable and cosy.
Very well equipped kitchen and the welcome tray of cakes was delicious.
Thank you Martin and Joanne, the dogs, sheep, cows and chickens.

Beautiful cottage
The cottage is lovely and spacious and also very clean. You are welcomed with a lovely welcome treat. The host is Joanne who is super lovely and friendly. All the essentials are catered for within the cottage. The beds are really comfortable to get a fab nights sleep. Great location to get out and about as we did with our 2 boys. Added bonus for them was feeding the lambs and the calf’s and they loved the owners 2 dogs. Couldn’t fault this cottage and we hope to return next year too. Thanks Joanne x

Space and tranquility
This is such a lovely clean, light and peaceful cottage to spend a week.We felt warmly welcomed by both human and doggy hosts and enjoyed the home made banana bread, bread and jam.We were content to have a cosy rainy day playing board games while one member of the family had to work, for which the WiFi was good. The beds were super comfortable.
We are so glad to have found The Old Grainstore- thank you for a lovely week.

Beautiful and spacious cottage with all the amenities.
Located in the heart of the Northern Lake district. Forms a great base to cover all the lakes and the western coast in 4-5 day trip.
Joanne and family are wonderful hosts. Supercool and Super friendly !!
Easily one of the best places I've come across so far 😊

Absolutely superb
We have stayed here many times and as always everything was perfect! Cottage was spotlessly clean when we arrived but probably not so much when we left. The kids loved the freedom of roaming around playing with the toys inside & out. Feeding the calves, the lamb & of course the dogs was brilliant. We all enjoyed a visit from the ice cream van but Oliver was especially happy when the bell rang! Nothing is too much trouble even when my grandson went into their garden to ride the swing. Their eggs are the best. Thanks Joanne and all the family for making it our home from home! See you soon

Excellent in all respects
I don't normally write reviews but here goes...
Despite the fact that the electricity was off it was all exactly as promised. A mark of a good setup is the reaction when something goes wrong. Joanne was instantly on the case and it was fixed within minutes of arrival. The location is great for a break or a longer holiday, with lots to do locally, our cottage was well prepared, warm, bright, up-to-date and clean as a whistle. Could not fault it. Joanne runs the operation and was helpful and friendly at all times. All good we certainly would like to go back.

Stayed here lots of times over the last three years it is our yearly getaway now.
Lovely place to stay anything you think oh no I have forgot they have it all in the cottage. We have stayed in both cottages and both are immaculate. They are lovely and clean and smell amazing as soon as you walk in. Beds are super comfy and shower and bath are lovely too. Joanne and Martin are lovely hosts and the things they do to make your stay special are amazing. The welcome tray we always look forward to with the gorgeous Bananna bread and lovely jam. They leave little games, toys and books out and even a bear on the bed kids love this!
Outside they have football nets swing ball and other outdoor toys which are great.
Other extra bonus is it has a dish washer no dishes to do and a lovely cosy log fire.
You can also book to feed the calves which the kids love to do also. There is plenty to do around and lots of places to visit.
I remember booking this as a gift for partners 30th 3 year ago and so glad I did!
Kids ask every year can we go back to the cottage.
Thanks again for having us would highly recommend these cottages to anyone 😊
