We booked this cottage for our honeymoon, and were certainly not disappointed. It's a lovely, good-sized cottage with everything you could want for a wonderful stay. Helen, the landlady, has stocked it with every conceivable amenity from cookery books and implements to CDs and a hot water bottle! She was really helpful prior to our booking and we were not...

Management response:

Thank you so much for taking the time to write thisi review. I am so glad you had such a great stay and honeymoon and hope it helped lay down lots of memories for the future. One of the things that first appealed to me when I viewed the cottage was how close it is to such a lively village...

We had a great week here. Ideal location both in terms of being in a quiet village (with all all amenities on hand) and lovely view over the river. Yes a tight squeeze in the car park but our Passat could manoeuvre just fine and get in and out. Only slight negative would be that the cleaners maybe weren't doing...

Management response:

Thank you for your review and I am glad youhad a great week. I am very sorry about the cleaning and will pass your comments onto the agency to whom I pay (a lot of!) money to clean it and will await their comments.

About the neighborhood
Staveley is popular with walkers and cyclists but retains a strong sense of community and is a ‘real’ rather than tourist village. There are often village events (e.g farmers’ market, history society evenings, artshows, cycle challenges and fell races) and a biennial carnival. The villagers are friendly towards visitors and the shops and local businesses helpful. As well as a butcher, village store, pharmacy and post office, the village has an artisan baker, tea room and 2 pubs. The popular Staveley Mill yard is close at hand and has a great bike store, brewery and beer hall and a walkers' café which is a favourite with locals and visitors alike. It is also home to a number of small businesses including a furniture maker and art gallery – both of whom welcome browsers.
