Low Mill is a charming Visit England 4* 17th Century cottage near Lakeside.Originally used by the mill workers at the nearby Bobbin Mill, the mill is now a museum owned by English Heritage.
The wood-burner, stylish bedrooms and the peaceful patio garden makes for an ideal romantic break.
Although families will not be disappointed, as the cottage sleeps five. Plus cot and a highchair are available for a baby too.
As well as the family bathroom with bath and shower there is a downstairs toilet. There is full central heating as well as the multi-fuel burner.

Unfortunately I booked this cottage not knowing it didn't have an enclosed garden. As the cottage is located on a busy back road (no paths) it made taking my dog a challenge.... The cottage itself was lovely just not right for our stay.More

Low Mill Cottage is in a pretty hamlet 100 metres from the Bobbin Mill, an interesting visitor attraction and working example of the early textile industry. Homely, comfy beds, great location for all amenities. Our second stay at Low Mill as memorable as the first....More

After parking your car, at the rear of the property, you enter the delightful garden/patio, where you can enjoy meals 'al fresco', then enter via the modern kitchen. The rest of the downstairs has traditional slate flooring, original ledged and braced wooden doors and chic furnishings.The lounge/dining room has French doors, that open onto the patio for when the weather is warm and sunny, and a woodburner stove for the chilly winter evenings, although there is also full oil central heating at the property , together with LCD TV and a DVD. About the neighborhood
The Lakeside is home to the Windermere Lake Cruises, which can transport you up the lake to Ambleside and Bowness, or across the lake to Fell-foot Park, where canoes and rowing boats can be hired.

The area is great for famlies, as well as the 'Aquarium of the Lakes', there is also 'Go Ape', situated in Grizedale Forest and the Haverthwaite steam railway.

High Dam, is a must! as the walk is directly from the cottage door, it is the 'Hidden Tarn Hows'!
Cyclists, walkers, families are all catered for in this quiet area of Lake Windermere
Getting around
The Windermere Lake Cruises leave from Lakeside. You can travel up to Bowness and Ambleside from here. You can also sail across the lake to Fell Foot Park, where small boats and canoes can be hired, and there is a cafe and gift shop.
Tickets for the cruises, The Haverthwaite Steam Railway and The Aquarium can all be purchased from Lakeside.

By Car-Take junction 36 off the M6. Follow the A590 towards Windermere, then follow the signs for Newby Bridge.
When you reach Newby Bridge, Follow the sign for Lakeside.
