So good I immediately booked a return visit
I booked Wastwater Cottage and The Farmhouse to host a Wellness Weekend Health Retreat. Everything was perfect and I booked the very next day to host another event for longer this time in September 2019. I have no hesitation in recommending Select Cottages.

Home from home
Beautiful cottage with a home from home feeling. Arrived late at night but everything was easy to find and we soon settled in with a cosy feeling living area and bedrooms. There was tea and coffee and biscuits laid out in kitchen and milk in fridge which was a nice touch. We travelled with grown up children and 2 grandchildren and there was everything we needed including cot, high chair and various games and DVDs and TV. The weather was warm so we went on minature steam Ravenglass railway. The station was easy walking distance and we enjoyed a few hours at coast on beach and had a good lunch in pub, before returning to cottage. The property is one of a row of about 3 or 4 cottages been converted from farm buildings and it was clean and homely. The garden is open to your neighbours but large enough to have barbecues or use the picnic tables without feeling cramped. There is also a fast flowing beck at bottom of garden so please keep all children under your supervision. Beautiful area in stunning countryside.

Thank you for your lovely review. It sounds like you thoroughly explored our special part of the Lakes and we are delighted that you found the cottage comfortable and homely. The Whillan Beck is a lovely feature and we do, as you suggest, ask parents to supervise children at all times. The river flows quickly after heavy rain but goes back to a bubbling beck very quickly and our picnic spot by the river is always popular with guests. Thank you from the team at the cottages.

A brilliant weekend
A lovely cottage; worked very well for a group of 8 friends. 25m from the pub and not much further from walking straight out into the National Park. Great walks nearby and good location for Scafell Pike and Wastwater too.

Brilliant find
Spacious, well provided for accommodation. Very snug. Great surroundings. Loved Boot. Ate two nights at Boot Inn. Loved by all the family. Great walk to Scafell. Esk Trail really only suited to serious mountain bikes. The lanes were quiet enough to cycle on. Got the train back from Ravenglass with the bikes. Memorable. We shall return.

Beautiful Cottage
A beautiful and spacious cottage with fantastic trails right from our doorstep. Our host was so welcoming - he greeted us as we drove onto the property. He offered great suggestions for walks in this great park. There was a lovely pub serving delicious food only a few steps away. We had a wonderful holiday at this magnificent property. I can't wait to return!

Wonderful Weekend in an Idyllic setting
We arrived in Boot, a cosy little hamlet of inns, cottages, a shop and a beautiful old mill. Wastewater is a converted barn, set within beautiful grounds with a little beck to the front. The garden was ideal for games and barbecuing. The views are breath taking. The cottage is also perfectly situated for Blea Tarn, Wastewater, Scarfell, and the three-foot track to the little railway. The piano provided great fun and entertainment too. We all enjoyed ourselves, and would highly recommend this as the perfect 'get away' for family events and fun. There was something for everyone to do.

Couldn't have chosen a better location and accommodation for our stay in the Lake District
We rented this cottage at a time when Cumbria was experiencing the worst floods so we were concerned but received reassurance and carried on with our plans. We are extremely glad we did not miss the opportunity to experience the charming atmosphere of the spacious cottage and the beauty of Eskdale area. We traveled with two small children and grandparents to spend Christmas holidays in the Lake District and we found it very easy to reach points of interest and find activities for all of us. Attractions are very close: the Hardknott Pass, Eskdale Rail, all kinds of walks and even a historic Mill and Church. We even discovered a beautiful waterfall a short and medium walk away. The rain did not hamper our adventures. We were able to drive to Windermere, Grassmere and Keswick and the distances were just right with two restless children. We all enjoyed the Safari Zoo, some sea side towns, mountains and lots of water. In fact, we thought the wet weather made it all more beautiful. The cottage was well supplied, clean and conveniently located in a walking distance to two great pubs but remote, at the same time. We got more than we hoped for.

Cosy cottage with all our needs catered for
Stayed here for a week as part of my 70th birthday celebrations with my family. The cottage catered for all our needs, both young and old, and I wished that I could have stayed longer. It was so cosy yet spacious inside with a fabulous choice of bedrooms and bathrooms, we felt spoilt for choice. The cottage is in a wonderful location and is served by a couple of local inns which served delicious food, and just down the road is a wonderful steam railway where we spent a fabulous day travelling up and down the railway track. Would really recommend this cottage and area for a fantastic break in the Lake District, and can not wait to hopefully return one day.

Even more fantastic fun in Eskdale
Wastwater Cottage was rented for a week after Christmas and for the New Year with friends staying in adjacent cottages (three families of 2+2). We spoke to Greg about how we would manage to get 12 of us in the accommodation ....he bent over backwards to help and ensure that we had the best deal for us all. We had such a great time. Whilst the weather was wet, we were able to get up onto the beautiful fells and have some quality walks in Eskdale Valley and adjacent Wasdale. The cottage itself was deceptively spacious and we used this as the central place for meals, kids playing and post-walk teas....and G&Ts! We stayed when the weather was arguably at its worst and when many parts of the Lake District were flooded or on flood alert; we had absolutely no issues despite being next to the river and a mill. We have stayed in the other large cottage here before plus the farmhouse and will be coming back here again. It is just so great and there is literally nothing else that you need to bring; there is good washing facilities and places to put muddy boots. I would thoroughly recommend this beautiful setting for future holidays on your own or with family. Lucy, Nick, Jess, Alex, Sarah, John, Oiefa, Amelia, Toy, Justin, Josh and Toby thank you very much for making our stay fantastic....Happy New Year.

A beautiful cottage in a fabulous location
We stayed in Wastwater cottage towards the end of the summer season and everything was just perfect! The bathrooms have been beautifully renovated to add a little modern touch to the converted barn. Inside the cottage is very roomy with the high beamed ceilings making it big enough for a family. The kitchen is very well equipment with everything you could want! The new beds were also a very nice touch! 10/10

About the neighborhood
Bridge End Farm Cottages have colourful and well maintained gardens with wonderful views. The cottages are tucked away in a secluded location within the picturesque and historic village of Boot.<BR><BR>Boot has a fantastic setting in the valley of Eskdale eloquently described by the famous Lakeland author Alfred Wainwright:<BR><BR>"Eskdale, one of the loveliest of Lakeland's valleys, descends from the highest and wildest mountains in the district to the sands of Ravenglass in a swift transition from grandeur to beauty... It is a place of many delights, the finest of all valleys for those whose special joy is to travel on foot and a paradise for artists."<BR><BR>This is the heart of the Lake District National Park with the highest, deepest, steepest, and oldest! Within walking distance are Scafell Pike, England's highest mountain, dramatic Wastwater, its deepest lake, Hardknott Pass, its steepest road and Boot Mill, its oldest working water mill. It is a very special area for walkers with many of the finest walks in England on the doorstep - see section on website on Walking.<BR><BR>Boot Village - Bridge End Farm Cottages are in the village of Boot. It is one of the Lake District's "scenic hamlets", nestling beneath mighty Scafell and despite having only some 20 to 30 residents boasts a church, post office, craft shop, corn mill museum and two traditional Inns. The village is secluded but not isolated.<BR><BR>Our 2 village pubs, The Boot Inn (formerly The Burnmoor) and Brook House Inn are only 50 yards and 150 yards away and there are a further 3 pubs in the valley - The Woolpack, King George IV and Bower House. They are all within a pleasant walk or 5 minutes drive of Boot and serve good food and Cumberland Ales. Imagine returning from a long day on the fells to a well-earned pint of real ale and hearty meal in front of a roaring log fire on a crisp winter evening or in the beer garden on a balmy summer evening!
