Perfect home away from home.
This home is perfect. We've stayed three times (twice before Covid and once since), each time for at least a week. It has everything you could want - big kitchen, cozy fireplace, comfortable beds and views for days. We will be back.

Perfect Trinity Home
This house is amazing. Perched on the rocks over looking the bay and the light house. It was perfect for our family of 7. You can’t get a better view then from the deck!! Easy 2 min walk into to Trinity. Absolutely would recommend this house to everyone.

Best house, property, location and VIEW on the island. Here’s why!
Simply put. Commander’s Keep is…heaven. Have stayed at CK many times and I cannot recommend the property or location more.
The House - Traditional, Cozy, Elegant (clean!). Has absolutely everything you need and more.
Location - easy to get to from both Gander and St. John’s. It’s a place you can stay for a few days or 10 days…even weeks. So much to do in the area.
The View - not sure there is a better view on the entire island. The Skerwink Trail, The Bay, Icebergs, Whales, Sea otters, The lighthouse (the sound of the lighthouse, late at night as the fog rolls in…eerily relaxing) the Church (and waking up Sunday morning to the sounds of its glorious bells!)
Trinity - Rising Tide Theatre - won’t find better community theatre anywhere. 5 stars. Be sure to take in the Trinity Pageant, Dinner Theatre and at least one play. The Restaurants! - Fisher’s Loft, The Twine Loft, Bonavista Social Club and so many more! If it’s a clear day, try to reserve at Fishers Loft (late seating) so you can witness the spectacular sunset. Bonavista Social Club - worth the drive for the sunset alone - BYOB. They do not take reservations. Overall, the town has an abundance of things to do - great shops, restaurants, theatre, hiking trails, iceberg/whale watching tours - you’ll find something new every day and it’s all literally steps from Commander’s Keep!
Lastly, the owners and the property managers - You will not find nicer, kinder, sweeter people! They go above and beyond to ensure your stay is perfect! Going to Commanders Keep is like coming home. As soon as you arrive, you’ll walk out onto the incredible deck that floats above the cliff…you’ll look out…and exhale. Heaven.

It's as Good as it Looks and More!
First of all, the location is fantastic and the views from every window are truly extraordinary! We never tired of just looking and soaking it all in. In fact one of our best days was spent doing just that – sitting with a good book and soaking it all in. From the house you can walk in just a few minutes all around the charming village. The house itself is everything you would want in this setting – beautiful, immaculate, comfortable, and extremely well equipped. Highly recommend Harry Hibbs Returns at the Rising Tide Theatre and whale watching with Sea of Whales Adventures. Hiking in the area is fantastic. Lots to do. Just go. Stay there. You will love it.

Superbe maison, site exceptionnel
Maison très bien équipée. Accueil chaleureux de Madame Alma. Avons été très satisfait de notre séjour dans un décor exceptionnel.
NB Les portes du foyer devraient être nettoyées et ... avons nous besoin d'autant de consignes affichées?

Best view in Trinity
We have stayed at Commanders Keep probably 4 times now over the years, having initially stayed in an Inn at Port Rexton. We decided to change to Commanders Keep because we saw it on a walk and then realised we could rent it! We rarely use the kitchen despite its incredibly well stocked contents but have found it is absolutely the best location, and the loveliest house, for our special times in Trinity. The pleasure of the fantastic deck over the water, the beautiful gardens, the coastal walk and ease of access to town...from your own very beautiful private house. Can't imagine staying anywhere else in the area.
So far we have brought 3 different guests to stay with us and they all agree. It's fantastic.

The View is Spectacular!
The location of this house is amazing!
Catherine, our host, was extremely responsive and attentive.
The house is lovely - clean and well appointed - everything you'd want in the kitchen and enough supplies provided (toilet paper, paper towel, coffee, etc) - which is key when staying somewhere for a vacation.
Be prepared for lots of wind on the balcony, given its location.
No BBQ - and when on holidays, it's not ideal for meals - perhaps something can be added to the balcony to block from the wind to accommodate a BBQ.

Thank you for your positive comments about the views, the attention to details, and our efforts made so your stay would be the very best possible!
In Trinity, the traditional appearance of the homes is a top priority to the Trinity Historical Society and Town Council. For that reason, any kind of windbreak, even plexiglass (that could protect for the use of a BBQ) is out of the question, because it would break from the traditional appearance.
That is why, as you have noted, the gourmet kitchen is so very well equipped with top quality cookware and utensils, and has a layout with which previous guests, who were actually professional gourmet chefs, thoroughly enjoyed!
We are sorry you missed BBQ'ing while you were here.
We hope the outdoor blankets we provide for snuggling in the Muskoka chairs on the deck were cozy for you and allowed you to enjoy the 'total experience' of rugged Newfoundland, including its winds!!

Spendid isolation, beautiful views, fabulous home
We had the privilege of staying at Commander's Keep for two weeks the end of May, beginning of June 2016, and cannot say enough positive things about this beautiful home. Carefully constructed in the saltbox style by local carpenters, the home is beautifully done inside and out with attention to detail. The kitchen is fully stocked so that even a gourmet cook will find anything he/she needs to cook. The view is spectacular, looking out into Trinity Harbor, to the lighthouse across the way. We were treated to views of icebergs, whales, a seal, many different birds, and enjoyed a fire every evening in this beautifully-appointed house. Also had the opportunity to read about the history of the area, and watch many old movies from the well-stocked DVD collection. Looking forward to going back in the summer or fall to catch the beauty of flowers.

Fabulous home, spectacular location, panoramic Trinity Bay ocean/town views.
Commander's Keep exceeded expectations. The house has a beautiful natural wood interior with stylish charm and décor. A large walk out deck fronts to the ocean, with unobstructed views of the harbour, town, and lighthouse. The well appointed kitchen is welcoming, and there is a large dining table in front of wall to wall windows overlooking the ocean. A 2-way fireplace graces the dining area, and a cozy sitting area on the other side that we enjoyed for relaxing conversations, books, music, and TV if so inclined. The cozy beds made for sound sleeping after lots of sea air while whale watching, and some hiking on the trails in town and surrounding area. We certainly enjoyed coming ''home'' to this lovely house at the end of every day. Highly recommend it for a 5 star stay in the pretty historic town of Trinity Bay, Newfoundland.

Perfect family vacation home!
We were fortunate to spend time at Commander's Keep on our vacation to Newfoundland this month. The house is perfect -- fabulous location, lovely decor, wonderful layout. Plenty of room for our family of four to be together and still have privacy. Pictures don't do it justice. The views from the windows and deck are awesome. The house was cozy on chilly days and bright on warm sunny ones. It's in easy walking distance to shops and food in Trinity, which is a nice community, and was a good base from which to explore the peninsula and beyond. We only wish it were closer to home so we'd be able to escape here more often.
