Wonderful apartment in Makrigialos
To week holiday for 2 adults and 3 children. All the amenities in the apartment and access to a large roof terrace, very close to beach and town. Attentive staff and fantastic pools. Would not only recommend but also go again!!

Lovely apartment with great views and close to town.
We spent 2 wonderful weeks in this apartment. It had a well equipped kitchen with nice dishes, glasses and utensils. The balcony was lovely and the rooftop terrace even better, pictures don't do it justice. The bed could have been better, but we got use to it. The only thing missing was a hair dryer, luckily I had packed a small travel one. The complex is very well cared for with lovely pools and lots of pool loungers. We were surprised at how quiet it was and were told this was normal for June. Apparently July and August are much busier. The onsite café was great to have with very nice food and ice cold beer at very reasonable prices. Make sure you try the mojitos. The walk to town is a bit far on a hot day, although we did it a few times. We had a car so it wasn't a problem. The onsite manager Areti was lovely and very helpful with restaurant suggestion. We were pleased with all of the restaurants she suggested. The only disappointment was the welcome package we ordered from the resort for 30 Euros. It was very lacking for the price and we discovered that it was easy to stop at a grocery store in Lerapetra on the way from the airport to pick up what we needed. Although there is a washing machine and a dishwasher, there isn't any soap. Not a problem as long as you know to bring both. Overall, a wonderful vacation in a lovely apartment within a very nice resort.

Fantastic spot: great weather, lovely sea view apartment, loved Makry Gialos town
Stayed in this apartment for ten days mid September 2018. Weather was Fantastic, and meant that we could explore the beaches, towns and taverns in the area. A highlight for us was running up to the Cave & Dragon tavern where the food is delicious and the friendliest staff. The views were insane in the morning! The apartment offered everything we needed. Kitchen was fully equipped meaning we could cook some nights in which allowed us to admire the gorgeous sunsets from the balcony. The roof top balcony is a huge plus for this apartment, it really is special. A bonus was that the apartment was cleaned, towels and bedding changed midway through our stay. The small town of makrygialos just a few km's away offered a number of great restaurants and beaches. We did the pirate boat trip to the nearby island which was paradise. Overall a fantastic stay, would highly recommend. We hope to be back. Thanks, Sarah

Great place to stay
This was our second stay at Simon's apartment in Lagada. Both trips, one in October 2017 and the latest in May 2018, were fabulous. The resort is really well equipped, with 2 good sized pools with plenty of sun loungers and sun shades, if needed. The cafe is a really nice spot to grab a light meal or drink - we couldn't get enough of the milkshakes! The staff are really friendly and helpful and Simon was kind enough to arrange for them to get some milk, bread etc, for our first morning. The apartment itself is very nice, clean and well appointed and had everything we needed to cook if we wanted to. There was plenty of space for our family of four, with the option of a sofa bed and extra single if needed. Being a penthouse apartment, it has a fabulous roof terrace, which was great for relaxing on and has lovely views of the ocean and mountains - really stunning at sunset. Makrygialos had plenty of nice places to eat serving beautifully cooked traditional food, but you can also get a pretty good pizza or pasta in a lot of places as well. As for the cake shop/ cafe... sensational! We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and will hopefully be back to stay at Simon's apartment again next year.

Wonderful stay at Lagada Beach Resort
We have just returned from a wonderful two weeks at Lagada Beach Resort. Simon’s penthouse apartment was everything we expected it to be. There is a fantastic view from the main balcony and the roof terrace, beautiful to wake up to in the morning and the roof is perfect for star gazing at night. We had great use of the pools and they were never overly busy. The beach is about a five minute walk away and was perfect for an early morning or evening walk. If you scramble over the hill at the end of the beach and onto the next one, there is the most perfect little taverna serving beautiful food at the end. The walk into town takes about 30 minutes and is best done in the evening as it is quite hot in the heat of the day. The town had a great selection of restaurants and most are at a really reasonable price. I would say this is the most unspoilt part of the island and my highlight was going up into the hills to the Vreiko Cave which was such an adventure. We stopped off at a lovely taverna in Peifki on the way back which was owned by a lovely German couple who served really delicious rustic food and we had grapes from their garden to end the meal. We also loved our trip to Sitia and went to see a local football match while we were there. Again great restaurants here to. A go on the crazy sofa at George’s Watersports on Makry Gialos Beach was great fun for the kids. The staff at Lagada Beach were extremely friends and very helpful, we loved going to the little cafe on site, great for breakfast. The kids thoughly enjoyed the movie night which was laid on one evening at the cafe. All in all we had an amazing two week stay and have made some wonderful memories. If you are looking for unspoilt Crete, this is definitely the place to go.

Hi Amanda, Thanks for your review. Sounds as though you had a great time. I would agree the Lagada Resort sits in an unspoilt area of Crete, so many people return year on year. I can’t wait to get back out there myself again. Thankyou for your booking and I hope you will return again soon. Kind regards, Simon

Excellent apartment and resort, fantastic area
Just returned from 12 days here, with 3 small kids. We were sad to leave! The apartment itself is excellent. It was modern, clean and very well equiped. The roof terrance and balconies have amazing sea views and were perfect for the evenings once the kids were in bed. The whole resort was kept spotlessley clean, and the pool areas are particularly great. The biggest pool is split into 2 main pools plus 2 kids areas with benches and ledges that the kids spent hours jumping off into the water. The second entirely separate pool is smaller and deeper, and closer to the cafe and toilets. We used both. Despite it being high season, the resort and pool areas never got too busy and never felt crowded. We loved the general area of Marky Gialos. It is a fairly small town but has plenty of restuarants, and most are directly on the beach, meaning that after we had eaten the kids could play while we had a drink. Quite a few have bits of kids play equipment. The beach there is lovely with nice soft sand and very calm water. It was very windy during our stay, but the sea at the harbour beach was protected by the harbour and remained very flat. We had hoped to use the beach which is close to the resort (approx 400m walk) but it was not very good for kids. It gets deep quickly and has a strongish current, although the strong winds whilst we were there will not have helped. We had a car and visited many other lovely beaches and coves not far from the resort. We also visited Sitea, which is well worth a trip. And we visted restarants in the surrounding villages, which made a nice change from Makry Gialos. I would strongly recommend a car, especially if you have kids. It is possible to walk to the nearest restuarants but it is a bit far for small kids, expecially when it is hot in the day, and you need to walk on the road which has no lights or footpath so not good for kids at night. Makry Gialos is only a 5 minute drive away. We really recomend Cretan Trails for a trip - we did a day kayak trip with the kids along the coast. It was a fantastic day out and the kids absoluely loved it. Tony was an excellent guide and was really great with the kids. There is a cafe at the resort which does plenty of drinks and snacks. It would be nice if it did something a bit more substantial, such as pizzas, so that it would be possible to eat there in the evening if you didn't want to make the effort to go out to eat. I would say that was the only downside to the resort for us - you need to go out in the car if you want to eat in the evening and don't want to cook. All in all it was an excellent holiday.

Perfect !
We spent 8 nights in Simon's apartment and just wish it had been longer. The location is a short drive from the main town and had it been cooler then it is walkable. The deserted beach is a few minutes walk from the apartment and can be seen from the front balcony and roof terrace. Everything was immaculately clean and we were surprised that the towels and bed linen was changed half way through the stay. The pool was never crowded and there was always somewhere in the shade or sun depending on your choice. Unfortunately it was far too hot to use the roof terrace except in the evening. If going to Lerapetra it is worthwhile stocking up at Lidls as the local shops can be expensive. We found restaurant prices very reasonable and can recommend Agyrovoli on the harbour. We need to go back as there are so many to choose from! Thoroughly recommend this property if you like privacy and peace and quiet combined with easy access to restaurants and shops.

Perfect apartment - unspoilt and pretty area
One of the best holidays I have ever had. The apartment was just perfect for me and my daughter, it was clean, everything worked well and it is in the prettiest spot on a wonderful stretch of unspoilt cretian coastline. The resort manager was very kind and helpful and efficient too. Everything about the holiday was easy from straightforward car hire to brilliant private coves for snorkelling let alone fantastic local eateries and pretty mountain villages. who knew that pomengranite Raki was the best thing known to man?! No hassle, no fuss just lots of sun and fun. really really enjoyed and will most certainly be back.

About the neighborhood
Lagada Resort is a modern, beautifully designed complex of apartments and bungalows set at the foot of the mountains, right next to the sea. It really is the perfect place to relax and unwind by the pool with a good book or to use as a base to explore Eastern Crete. The resort is immaculately maintained with onsite management team who can assist you should you need anything. If you want a change from the pool, just a short stroll away is Bayview Beach, unspoiled, practically deserted and safe, with soft sand and crystal clear turquoise water. The resort is situated just a few minutes drive from Makrygialos which is a typical, quaint Cretan seaside village with friendly locals. You will find everything you need in terms of supplies should you wish to cook in the apartment but if you prefer to go out there are a wide selection of excellent bars and restaurants that run along the seawall where you can drink and dine with the sea lapping at your feet. As these restaurants are right on the foreshore they offer spectacular views across the Lybian sea, particularly at night when stars fill the sky and the moon casts a beam of light across the water. With the many local beaches and restaurants, beautiful scenery of the Makrygialos area and the inviting pool and comfort of Bayview Resort itself, many visitors are tempted to go nowhere else as Bayview offers the perfect holiday to those looking for rest and relaxation.
