Later, you'll take a hike upward from the lodge on the fire-break trail that starts from the parking area. Then you'll take a picnic lunch down to the picnic tables and watch the kids enjoy the fully equipped playground area...all on the property. There is even a small hibachi grill in case you want to cook hot dogs on the spot. For the afternoon, you'll have to choose between reading a good book on one of the decks, or learning to play a musical instrument. There is a keyboard and beginner level guitar, mandolin, and banjo hanging on the walls waiting for you to create the Appalachian vibe. If you want more excitement, you can drive 15 minutes into Todd and try tubing or kayaking on the river as well. However, you'll want to make it back to the lodge for that sunset! That evening, you'll want to take the family back down to the playground area and build a fire in the fire pit (fire wood provided). You can sit in the chairs around the pit and roast marshmallows, tell ghost stories, and watch the stars until late at night, before you go back in for your nightly billiards challenge. Convenience is important. There are two sets of washer/dryers (one on the top level, one on the bottom level). And if you forgot anything, you're only 20 minutes from Boone with stores and restaurants. Access to the New River, one of the oldest rivers in the world and the only river in North America that flows South to North, is at the Big Hill Community Park just a short drive from the cabin and is perfect for tubing, rafting, fishing, and more. There are outfitters who host rafting and tubing trips, as well as guided fishing trips on the New River (as well as the other nearby rivers).  This is a special treat in the spring, summer and fall!  Life at "A Moon River View" is relaxing and refreshing. You'll enjoy your stay, and look forward to your next visit! The Story Behind the Name We were always a musical family, some with formal training, and others off us with back-porch training.  Therefore, we knew our cabin had to have a musical name, and we wanted something that referenced the New river within walking distance of the cabin (and visible from the front deck in win
