The Mountain House Retreat is situated on 10+ beautiful acres in the Catskill mountains with panoramic views, a private fresh water pond and lovely forest landscape. This fully furnished mountain house, has an open living space with fireplace. 5 bedrooms, 2 baths, internet service, 2 outdoor decks overlooking the mountain views and 2+acre spring fed fresh water pond. Bocce court. Kayaks and inner tubes available to use on the pond. Wonderful for friend and family get togethers! Only minutes from downhill and cross country skiing, ice skating, fishing, golf courses, whitewater rafting, restaurants, antique shops, concert halls, art galleries, wineries, theaters, and more!

Great family gateway
We booked the house for a family ski weekend. The house is situated in a quiet environment with nice surroundings, 5 minutes driving distance from Windham slopes. It is spacious, clean, functional and well equipped. Very bright and pleasant living space with nice views. Also safe for our toddler. Great care has been given to make it welcoming. Perfect for a family gateway.

Great house for weekend getaway
This is a place you would like to spend a weekend or even longer with friends and family. The lake is right near the house, with everything you need. The fire pit next to the lake is so wonderful, we all love it so much. This is a great house, we will book it again in the future.

Great vacation getaway with private lake
This house has it all. The private lake and view are beautiful, you can spend the whole day out there! We really enjoyed the house, very clean, not cluttered, big open living area. The bedrooms and beds were also comfortable. They provide loads of extra towels which was good since we were in the lake so often. The upper porch was great for the babies since it does not have steps. This home is a real vacation, away from it all with a private lake, boats, tubes, the sprawling grounds to play ball and more, the view and all. (We thought it would be too far away from any civilization but found it to be the perfect blend. It has a huge grassy area in the front which sets it away from the road with no neighbors too close by, yet there are cars that drive by every once in a while so you don't feel totally alone.) We really enjoyed our stay.

natural beauty and attention to detail
The following is an excerpt from an e-mail sent to the proprietor and the assistant/property manager to inform them of our complete satisfaction-just beautiful! We loved it so much we returned! "In addition to the beauty and tranquility of the property, we also have made note of the way in which both yourself and Kip treat your "house guests"-just simple things such as firewood, kitchen facilities, paper products etc. and asking if we are in need of anything shows your attention to detail. Beautiful! Relaxing! Perfect!
I spent 4th of July weekend with a group of friends at this wonderful mountain retreat, and it was all that we wished and more!! The views are spectacular, the private pond and the mountains added so much to our stay. It was like being on a private resort...the home had everything we needed to have fun and enjoy this long summer weekend, and we are already planning to return next year. Thank you so much for providing such an amazing spot for a long weekend getaway! And it must be noted how accommadating and easy it was to communicate with the owner and with flipkey whenever I had any questions-- 5 Stars!

Located in the Northern Catskill Mountains of upstate New York. Windham and Hunter Mountain Ski areas are only minutes away as well as Catskill State Park. Located between NYC, Boston, and Montreal. 1/2 hour from Albany International Airport and Hudson/Amtrak train station. 25 minutes from NY State Thruway Exit 21.
Getting around
Car recommended. The Mountain House can also be reached by bus (Adirondack Trailways) to the town of Windham, then taxi (Majestic Mountain Taxi) from the bus stop in town to The Mountain House. Or, via train (Amtrack) to the Hudson, NY train station, and taxi from train station to The Mountain House.
